Course Description
This is a principles course in macroeconomics. Macroeconomics is a branch of economics that deals with
the performance, structure, and behavior of the economy as a whole. However, in order to understand
aggregate variables such as GDP and unemployment, we need to understand that the driving force behind
these variables is the economic decisions faced by individuals.
Therefore, in this course, we will analyze together a model of aggregate economic behavior from what
economists know about individual behavior.
Attendance:
Attendance at the lectures is at your discretion. I do have one request: If you do attend, please be on

2. Lectures will mostly be present on the blackboard but occasionally I will use Power Point Slides.
Therefore, under no circumstances students are allowed to use laptop during lectures. Violators

Note: To make things fair, during lecture if my cell phone rings then all students attend that day will
receive an extra 8% point to their final grade.
EXAMS AND GRADING PROCEDURE:
There will be two midterms during the semester and one comprehensive final examination. The two
midterms will be given during regularly scheduled class periods and will count for 50% of the final grade.
The exams will consist of multiple choices, short essay question. The comprehensive exam will count for
30% of the final grade. The remaining 20% will consist of homework (10%) and performance during
class discussion (10%).

question(s) that I grade, you will get a ZERO for that homework.
Class Participation
Sometime during lectures, I will randomly ask students to answer questions. If you do not know the
