Update of September Meeting

October Meeting Preview
Our 2014/2015 season had a terrific start. The distribution of flyers
throughout Grant City prior to the meeting remains very effective in
bringing numerous new faces.
Our first guest speaker was Dr. Irene Deitch, founder of the OPTIONS
College Study Program for Mature Learners at CSI. The numerous courses
offered should be of interest to anyone. See our website for the schedule.
Next were Marybeth Melendez, Democratic candidate for the 64th
Assembly District, then Gary Carsel, Democratic candidate for the 24th
Senate District. Both presented their campaign platforms for the upcoming
elections.
Serious traffic concerns were raised for Lincoln Avenue and Hunter
Avenue which were addressed by the Commanding Officer if the 122nd
Prectinct, Captain Robert Bocchino and Officer Douglas. Updates will be
provided at subsequent meetings. Captain Bocchino also brought to our
attention a local incident of a skimming device placed on an ATM, and a
spike in Green Dot money card scams.
Ralph Porzio represented Senator Lanza, Carmine Raimondi represented
Assemblywoman Malliotakis, and Lauren Centineo represented
Councilman Matteo.
