Indicates the start of an HTML document

<HEAD>

Defines the head section of an HTML document

Defines the text that will appear in the browser’s title bar

<BODY>

Indicates the start of a web page message Attributes:

BGCOLOR

assigns background color to the entire page

BACKGROUND

assigns background graphic to the entire page

TEXT

assigns text color to the entire page

<P>

<H#>

Example:

<BODY BGCOLOR= “Yellow” BACKGROUND=”Storybook.gif”>

Indicates the start of a paragraph Attribute:

</P>

ALIGN

aligns paragraph to the LEFT, RIGHT, CENTER

Example: <P ALIGN=Center>

Defines and assigns the heading level for each message Example: <H1>This is the biggest heading size. </H1>

</H#>

<FONT>

Changes current font settings Attributes:

</FONT>

ALIGN

SIZE

FACE

COLOR

positions text to the LEFT, CENTER, RIGHT

assigns text font size (from 1 to 8), 8 is the biggest

assigns text style

assigns text color

Example:

<FONT SIZE=5 FACE=”Arial” COLOR=”Red” ALIGN=”Right”>

<LEFT>

Aligns individual test to the left of page

</LEFT>

<CENTER>

<RIGHT>

Aligns individual test to the center of page

Aligns individual test to the right side of the page

</CENTER>

<B>

Displays text in boldface

</B>

<I>

Displays text in italics

</I>

<U>

Displays text with underline

</U>

<MARQUEE>

Lets a string of text or graphic scroll across the screen Attributes:

DIRECTION

specifies the direction where text is moving

BEHAVIOR

the manner how text behaves while moving

Sub-attributes:

<OL>

Sequentially numbers each enclosed list item , also used to indent text Attributes:

TYPE

START

specifies how the list is to be numbered

 

specifies the starting value in a list

Sub-attributes:

Example:

<UL>

Marks each enclosed item in a list with a user-defined bullet Attribute:

TYPE

specifies how the list is to be marked or bulleted

Sub-attributes: Circle Square Disc

Disc

Sub-attributes: Circle Square Disc
 

Example:

<UL TYPE = “Square” <Li> text…</Li> </UL>

 

<LI>

Refers to the text to go in the list, goes together with the <OL> and <UL> tags

 

Example:

<OL TYPE=”I”> <Li> text <UL TYPE=”square”> <Li> text </UL> </OL>

 

<BR>

A one-sided tag used to insert a hard break or Enter key

A one-sided tag used to display a horizontal line across the page

Attributes:

SIZE

refers to the thickness of a line

WIDTH

refers to the horizontal width of a line

COLOR

refers to the color assigned to a line

ALIGN

refers to the position of the line

Example:

<HR SIZE=3 WIDTH= 100% COLOR=”Blue” ALIGN=”Center”>

A one-sided tag used to display an image or graphic on the page Attributes:

-none-

WIDTH

sets the horizontal width of an image or graphic

HEIGHT

sets the vertical size or image height

ALIGN

positions graphic to the LEFT, CENTER, RIGHT, TOP,

VSPACE

MIDDLE or BOTTOM defines the vertical space between text and graphic

HSPACE

defines the horizontal space between text and graphic

BORDER

defines the line or border surrounding the graphic

Example:

<IMG SCR=”bear.gif” WIDTH=100 HEIGHT= 100 VSPACE=20>

<A HREF>

means Hypertext Reference, to link to other web pages

</A>
