1. The Technology
We are extremely pleased to know of your keen interest in our PFRO water treatment system. Up till 1986, most
RO Plants were still using Spiral Wound or Hollow Fine Fiber Membrane Modules (with Spiral Wound having the
majority of market share). However, due to design flaws, the SW Membrane Modules had an inherent problem of
scaling and/or fouling which causes operational inefficiencies.
Having been aware of the inbuilt deficiencies and operational difficulties in the SW Membrane and Hollow Fine
Fiber Modules, German Govt. Lab. GKSS researched and developed a far more superior RO Membrane Module,
which they called, Plate and Frame Module (PFRO).
The latest in PFRO technology is lighter in weight and size. It is also conveniently easy on maintenance. PFRO
Modules have since established itself internationally as the most efficient RO Membrane Modules.
This unique configuration gives an open channel, unrestricted and fully turbulent feed water flow system. These
advantages allow PF RO to offer superior systems, which have become a benchmark of quality in Waste Water
RO Industry.
Now we briefly summarise hereunder the salient features of our offered PFRO system for your kind perusal and
consideration:
1. PFRO Membrane Modules do not need any chemical pretreatment during reverse osmosis for standard sea
water. Therefore there are no pollution of coastal sea due to presence of dosing chemicals vis-a-vis
Chlorine, Dechlorinating Agents, Polyelectrolyte, Sodium Hexametaphoshphate etc.
2. Membrane Life is typically 5 years even though we do have membranes working over 5 years. The
membranes can be replaced individually at fraction of cost.
3. The technical note on comparison of our PFRO Membrane Modules with conventional membrane systems was
submitted to you during discussion.
4. PFRO Membrane Modules offer fully automatic plant with fail-safe features for unmanned reliable
operations.
5. The offered system is not only designed for sea water desalination but also offers flexibility and
affordability in its operation on raw water quality variation.
6. The system operating parameters are pre-adjusted as per the seasonal variation in the raw water source and
salinity prevalent in the backwaters. i.e. the system product output in quality and quantity remains
unchanged despite variations in raw water qualities. This ensures extremely reliable performances
throughout system lifespan. The energy consumptions are also reduced accordingly. These unique
features add tremendous versatility and ruggedness to plant design.
7. Conversely PFRO can also operate on fewer system /trains of RO Membrane Modules to produce higher
output per system due to better raw water quality.
8. We follow a proven technology plant design from our collaborators whose Quality Control personnel
regularly visits our factory to ensure strict adherence to design methodologies.
9. All components of the plant are of proven quality control with prolonged performances and low failures rates.
10. The main components of the plant design meet stringent German engineering quality standards for
materials in saline water and high pressure application ensuring consistency/reliability. We do keep stock of
almost all the parts including membranes to provide full technical support and services to our customers.
11. We have professionally trained service staff stationed in Singapore to provide prompt after- sales service to our
existing customers.

13. PFRO Systems offers only advanced PF membrane module systems, which have been developed after years of
R&D in collaboration with German Research Institute for improvement on Spiral Wound membranes for
water treatment solutions.
14. Worldwide, we have over 8500 sea water desalination installations.
15. PFRO Membrane Modules has a power consumption of 3.3 KWhr/ M3 of permeate produced with ERI energy
recovery device.
