HEADLINE = How ICareer boosts your hospitality career

SUBHEAD = The Professional Bar & Restaurant School offers graduates the Cornell
advantage

If you are interested in a career in the hospitality industry, then heres a word of advice: there
are a lot of institutes out there so it wouldnt hurt to explore your options before you sign up.
A good place to start would be the Professional Bar & Restaurant School.
We are different because our focus is on producing work ready graduates for the industry.
Our learning environment promotes enterprise and working links with industry
professionals, says Paul Sutcliffe, Principal, the Professional Bar & Restaurant School and
the Cornell Institute of Business & Technology next door.
Paul says the hospitality industry offers great potential for a rewarding career but employers
need staff to walk straight in and hit the ground running with the right training, skills and
attitudes.
With campuses in Auckland CBD and Wellington, the Professional Bar & Restaurant School
is a specialist hospitality training institute with a strong focus on what employers are looking
for. It has developed NZQA accredited programmes in hospitality and hotel management that
serve to upskill industry players in the areas they need to further develop their careers.
The School has now joined hands with the Cornell Institute of Business and Technology to
provide their students with Cornells ICareer student support services.
ICareer provides end to end support for every student that enters and leaves the School. It
helps students get ready for the workforce and make a confident entry into the industry. The
main focus areas of ICareer are to:
Aid students with seeking an entry level job whilst studying. Earn While You Learn can
make a huge difference to students welfare and employability.
Prepare students for the job market, also forging a career path within the area of their studies
and expertise.
Assist you to prepare an individual CV and cover letters.
Give one on one advice to you to prepare for an interview by conducting a mock interview
and creating a real life scenario to aid readiness.
It is a measure of the quality of tutoring, mentoring and support services available at the
School, that an increasing number of their graduates are being snapped up by the industry.
We are often the first port of call for employers looking at quality staff, Paul says.
