Fall Fundraiser Finale
As a special THANK YOU to all of our students for doing their best with our Fall Fundraiser, all of the children
were treated to a fun reward show by Circus Mojo on Friday.

Top fundraising students from each grade were asked to be assistants during the performances, and kids who
raised $50 or more got to participate in a bonus session that taught them how to do a cool circus trick!
Students raised $12, 496.07 this year with our Fall Fundraiser. These generous donations will help to fund the
22 in-school enrichment programs being offered this year to our kids!

JFB PTO at Work for OUR Kids!
This is why we raise funds! Here are two wonderful programs offered to our students this week:
October 6 and 7, 2014: The Reason for the Seasons;
Cincinnati Museum Center (first grade)
Using globes, students learned about the seasons and
found out why spring and summer are warmer times
of the year and fall and winter are colder. They
created the sounds of spring and explored the effects
of camouflage with real animal mounts from Museum
collections. Then, they won a seasonal prize when they
correctly identified which animal had visited by
studying scat and tracks left behind.

October 10, 2014: Readers are Leaders; Midwest School Shows (second grade)
This interactive assembly reinforces elementary grade level reading and English language arts skills by using
entertainment, illusions, humor, and fun props to review reading comprehension, phonics, and help
encourage students to discover that reading can be fun. The show also incorporates routines that help
students discover story building and creative writing.



Box Tops for Education
Clip and save Box Tops for Education to help earn rewards for JF Burns! Every Box Top that you send in is
worth 10 cents for the school AND counts towards your childs classroom tally. The classroom with the highest
number of Box Tops collected will receive a special reward! A collection sheet was sent home in Friday folders
last month, and you can print additional sheets at the end of this newsletter. Visit jfb-pto.org/Rewards or
contact Paula Voegele or Amy Edwards for more information. The first collection deadline is Friday,
10/24/14.

Staff Appreciation

Help Wanted
Are you interested in becoming more involved with your childs school this year? We
have many different ways you can help out. Some projects are quick, one-time
opportunities while others have a longer commitment. No previous experience is
required! Please contact Shannon Russell if youd like to learn more!

PTO Membership and School Directory
Its not too late to join the PTO and get your School
Directory! Just send in your $5 dues and a membership
ASAP. Directories will be distributed in late October.
Membership forms can be found online and at the end of
this newsletter.

10/16 conference night dinners! We
are currently trying to fill spots for our
last fall conference on 10/26. Please

Fall and Winter Parties
This is just a friendly reminder that the $3 donations for Fall and Winter class parties are due by Friday,
October 17th. Please just send the money in an envelope with your child's name on it and the teachers will
pass it on to the Room Parents.
