NCI 4 2014 INCREASED TERRORISM THREAT LEVELS ANC RESPONSE MEASURES

1. As a precaution and consistent with the Governments recent decision to increase the Terrorism
Threat Alert level to high, the decision has been made to raise the Defence Safebase Alert level to
CHARLIE.

2. SADFOs and BSM of Defence Bases/Establishments may adopt additional Safebase Charlie
security measures if they consider them warranted, including random searches, inspections of carried
items, vehicles and personnel when entering a Defence Base/Establishment.

3. Staff and cadets are directed to observe the following precautions until further notice:

a) ANC Uniform is not to be worn in public

b) Cadets are not to be issued with innocuous weapons for use outside cadet precincts

c) All unit access points are to be manned and locked on parade days and nights

d) Confirm all civil police emergency response arrangements

e) Access to Defence Bases/Establishments or sites will not be affected; however, parents should be
advised that arrangements at bases may be different

f) Planning for Annual Continuous Training should include consideration of a Security Risk
Assessment
