A modern commercial vehicle is faced with varied and
complex tasks. It is therefore important that the vehicle
is perfectly equipped to deal with the manifold challenges
of day-to-day work at all times. The Transporter more
than meets these high expectations. Its numerous inno-
vations stem from dialogue with experts and more than
60 years of experience. The result is a commercial vehicle
that not only fulfils the norm in terms of flexibility, it
sets a whole new standard.

The Transporter:
room for more.
Just as every customer has different needs, every job
requires an individual approach. It's good when you can
rely on a vehicle that caters to all your needs and that
reflects the professional way in which your company con-
ducts its business. After all, your company vehicle is
your business card on wheels.

The Transporter:
more comfort-
able than ever.
A Transporter must be able to do more than simply convey
employees and materials from A to B. In practice, it often
serves as a mobile office and much more. This is why the
Transporter has top-level interior and ride comfort. Com-
fortable, ergonomically shaped seats, numerous storage
facilities and a wide range of multimedia options help
to make your working day a little easier. Everything naturally
features the high quality materials and workmanship that
you expect of a Volkswagen.

The Transporter:
now even safer
for drivers and
passengers.
Safety takes priority. This applies to all areas of work and,
of course, to the Transporter as well. Many modern safety
systems therefore guard against unpleasant surprises.
For example, the Electronic Stabilisation Programme can
prevent the vehicle from breaking away, brake assist helps
to build up brake pressure faster, and the driver and front
passenger are protected by standard airbags in the cab.
The range of safety features offered can be supplemented
by additional functions as optional extras. You therefore
have even greater reassurance on the road in future.

Many challenges await us on the roads: wet leaves, coarse
gravel, muddy earth. With 4MOTION permanent all-

pleasure, as power is distributed to the front and rear
axle according to the driving situation. 4MOTION there-
fore assures good traction, optimal handling and ex-
cellent steering characteristics, even in difficult condi-
tions. Should you often drive off the beaten track, a
man ual rear axle differential lock is available as an option.

The generously sized load compartment of the Transporter Delivery Van has outstanding functionality and
versatility. Depending on the wheelbase and roof height, it offers payloads ranging from 0.8 to 1.4 t and a
load compartment volume of 5.8 to 9.3 m
3
. The almost vertical side panels enable this volume to be used to
the full. Many Transporter models with a long or short wheelbase, and a medium high or high roof, can be
combined with a wide choice of door types. These help to save time and effort when loading and unloading.
Depending on the vehicle version, six, eight or ten lashing eyes ensure that the load is held firmly in place.
For even greater load security, lashing rails on the side panels and a high partition are available as options.

The Transporter 19 18 The Transporter
The Transporter Delivery Van range is as varied as your requirements: the normal and medium high roof
versions have a tailgate as standard; the high roof version is fitted with rear wing doors. These wing doors
can be optionally ordered with an opening angle of 250 to give easy access to a load compartment volume
of up to 9.3 m
3
in the Delivery Van with long wheelbase and high roof. A second sliding door makes for ease
of loading and unloading and is available as an optional extra for vehicles with a normal or medium high roof.
Individual versions can be ordered with a variety of partitions. All of them, whether half-height or full
partitions with or without a window or sliding window provide added safety. The load compartment has
various folding lashing eyes and half-height side panel trim as standard. Full trim up to the roof frame
is available on request. As an option for the floor, there is a choice of robust hardwood or rubber flooring
that can be washed clean.

of the engine, engine management, transmissions, aerodynamics and tyres a combination of efficient
motor engineering, technical highlights and aerodynamic measures. The Transporter BlueMotion a

The Transporter Kombi.
The Transporter Kombi has convincing features throughout and a particularly ingenious interior concept. For
example, by using the optionally available modular seat-securing system, the 3-seater bench seat can be
mounted in any of the seating rows as required depending on how many employees have to be conveyed. The
remaining space can be used for stowage. Right from the short wheelbase version there is room for up to nine.
The Kombi with long wheelbase also offers a maximum of nine seats but with more freedom of movement for
passengers or with extra load capacity. Here again, the optional modular seat securing system enables you to
rearrange the rear layout in a matter of moments, so that it ideally fits for your next assignment. When getting in
and out of the vehicle, passengers have comfortable access through the large sliding door on the front passen-
ger side. Available as an option for the cab or the cab and passenger compartment, the heating and ventilation
system and the Climatic air conditioner make sure that there is always a good working atmosphere en route.

To ensure the highest level of flexibility for the passenger compartment, you have a choice of two wheel-
bases, three roof heights and a large number of seating options for the Transporter Kombi. For example,
the short wheelbase version can be ordered with two or three rows of seats. Depending on the selected
seating layout, a 2-seater bench seat with an armrest is available for the second row of seats or, alterna-
tively, a 2-seater bench seat combined with a single seat and easy entry function. A double-folding 3-seater
bench seat can be fitted in the third row of seats, depending on the seating configuration. And the
Transporter Kombi with long wheelbase is even available with a fourth row of seats. For a detailed list of

The Transporter Chassis.
The Transporter Chassis offers you almost endless possibilities to create just the vehicle you need with a
selection of various box bodies and all kinds of special bodies. It is available as a robust carrier vehicle
with a gross vehicle weight (GVW) of 2.8 t or 3.2 t and a payload of up to 1.6 t whether it is a single cab
version with short or long wheelbase or a double cab with long wheelbase. The special body of your
choice can be secured easily and safely to the chassis with the help of standardised mounting points. To
increase the permissible rear axle load as well as the GVW to 3.5 t, the Transporter Tractor head basic
vehicle can be assembled with particularly lightweight special chassis types by various manufacturers. In
this case, the final vehicle approval and entry in the vehicle documents is carried out by the special body
manufacturer at a later date. The Tractor head basic vehicle can be combined with variable wheelbases
and different chassis versions (low frame or high frame chassis).

The Transporter Dropside Van.
The Transporter Dropside Van is a real workhorse but passengers by no means miss out on comfort. This
applies to both the single and the double cab. The double cab offers seating for a total of six and has four
doors as standard allowing passengers to get in and out more easily. All in all, three different load platforms
with aluminium dropsides and tailboard are available for the Transporter, depending on the wheelbase and
cab version. Easy-to-operate safety fasteners ensure convenient access to the load platform on three sides.
Extremely robust lashing eyes are fitted to the platform and can be folded flush with the surface.

No matter whether you choose the Transporter Dropside Van with a single or double cab, or with short or
long wheelbase one thing is certain: there is always an ideal balance between payload and manoeuvrability.
The modular principle of these vehicle versions means that the load space, equipment and passenger
capacity can be selected to suit your requirements exactly. The single cab with long wheelbase, for example,
provides a large load platform while the double cab can accommodate five people in addition to the driver.
Alternatively you can choose the Low-loader with a low load platform height to make loading and unloading
even easier.

7-speed dual clutch gearbox (DSG) (not
illustrated). The modern dual clutch
gearbox is capable of changing gears with
no interruption in power flow. When
the gearbox is in manual mode, the in-
strument panel gives the driver a gear
recommendation for a particularly fuel-
efficient driving style. In conjunction
with BlueMotion Technology and the
multifunction display, the DSG includes
a freewheel function: when the driver
takes his or her foot off the accelerator,
the engine is temporarily disengaged
to save fuel.
2.0 l Common rail engines. The TDI engines are particularly efficient thanks to a com-
bination of a small displacement, turbocharging and direct injection. Accurate
injection processes under high pressure ensure that fuel is burned evenly, resulting
in high performance at low fuel consumption. The efficiency of these engines is
further supported by the low maintenance costs. A 2.0 l TDI engine in three different
output levels as well as a 2.0 l BiTDI with 132 kW
1)
are available for the Transporter.
Engines, running gear and transmission.
The next generation 2.0 l common rail TDI engines in the Transporter stand out for
their high torque and excellent efficiency. They reduce fuel consumption and CO2
emissions to a minimum. The 2.0 l BiTDI engines have two exhaust gas turbochargers.
For the driver, this means: increased torque at lower engine speeds, enhanced per-
formance at high engine speeds and improved engine response. Upon demand, the
powerful engines can be equipped with a 7-speed dual clutch gearbox including
the highly efficient freewheel function and 4MOTION all-wheel drive. All TDI engines
have a particulate filter and fulfil the strict Euro 5 emission standards as a matter
of course. Two dynamic 2.0 l TSI petrol engines with exhaust gas turbocharging are
also available.
Mechanical differential lock. A mecha-
nical rear axle differential lock is
available in conjunction with 4MOTION
all-wheel drive.

4MOTION all-wheel drive. Engine torque
is distributed as required between the
front and rear axle. The electronic differ-
ential lock ensures even traction by
directing more power to the wheels with
better road contact for enhanced safety.
Heavy-duty running gear (not illus-
trated). Volkswagen offers various
running gear options for special use
for example, the extremely robust
heavy-duty running gear for slippery,
loose surfaces as often found at
building sites.
Wading depth: up to 300 mm. With the Transporter you can easily cross puddles or
standing water up to a depth of 30 cm. Flooded roads and building sites after heavy
rainfall also present no difficulties. Measured with a full load at a maximum of 30 km/h.
Approach angle: 21; departure angle: 17. Short inclines are no problem for the
Transporter. Due to the wheelbase, the bumpers do not make contact with the
ground even when the approach angle is 21. Measured with standard equipment
and a full load.
Ramp angle: 14. So that the journey
over difficult roads does not end ab-
ruptly, the Transporter with short wheel-
base can even easily cope with crests
with a ramp angle of up to 14. Measured
with standard equipment and a full load.
Hill-climbing ability: 37. Small earth
mounds on building sites and steep
inclines with a slope of up to 37 can be
mastered almost effortlessly by the

Transporter with BlueMotion Technology.
With BlueMotion Technology, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles is setting a whole
new benchmark for sustainable mobility. A technology package consisting of a start/
stop system, regenerative braking, cruise control and low rolling resistant tyres
significantly lowers vehicles fuel consumption. It can be combined with either a 2.0 l
TDI engine with 62 kW
1)
, 84 kW
1)
and 103 kW
2)
or with the 2.0 l BiTDI engine with

engine can also be ordered with a 7-speed dual clutch gearbox (DSG) with integrated
freewheel function (in combination with the multifunction display). This allows an
even more economical driving style. Upon demand, the two powerful engines can
also be combined with 4MOTION all-wheel drive. Thanks to BlueMotion Technology,
a Transporter with the 62 kW
1)
or the 84 kW engine
1)
, for example, only requires an
average fuel consumption of 6.7 l per 100 km, which corresponds to combined CO2
emissions of 179 g per kilometre.
BlueMotion Technology badge. This
badge shows that you drive a particu-
larly fuel-efficient vehicle in order to
keep the impact on the environment at
a minimum.
Low rolling resistant tyres. The
Transporter with BlueMotion Technology
achieves ground contact with low
rolling resistant tyres. The lower roll re-
sistance reduces fuel consumption,
which also leads to less CO2 emissions.
Start/stop system. It automatically turns the engine off when the vehicle is in neutral
or the clutch is released for example, when stopping at a red light. To resume driving,
all you have to do is press the clutch again to restart the engine.
Regenerative braking (not illustrated).
Thanks to special energy management
software, the voltage in the alternator is
boosted when the vehicle coasts or
breaks. This ensures that the vehicles
battery is recharged and relieves the
strain on the engine, which leads to a re-
duction in fuel consumption. Further-
more, it enables the alternators voltage
to be reduced whilst driving.
1) Transporter, 2.0 l TDI engine with 62 kW and 84 kW and BlueMotion Technology, fuel consumption in l/100 km: urban from 8.7 to 8.3, extra-urban from 6.7 to 5.8, combined from 7.4 to 6.7. CO2
emissions in g/km: combined from 195 to 176; efficiency class C. 2) Transporter, 2.0 l TDI engine with 103 kW and BlueMotion Technology/4MOTION, fuel consumption in l/100 km: urban from 9.9
to 8.8, extra-urban from 7.1 to 5.8, combined from 8.3 to 6.7. CO2 emissions in g/km: combined from 214 to 182; efficiency class D to C. 3) Transporter, 2.0 l BiTDI engine with 132 kW and Blue-
Motion Technology/4MOTION, fuel consumption in l/100 km: urban from 9.6 to 8.6, extra-urban from 7.4 to 6.1, combined from 8.2 to 7.0. CO2 emissions in g/km: combined from 216 to 184;
efficiency class D to C. 4) Transporter BlueMotion, 2.0 l TDI engine with 84 kW, fuel consumption in l/100 km: urban 7.5, extra-urban 5.6, combined 6.3. CO2 emissions in g/km: combined 166.
Transporter with BlueMotion Technology, fuel consumption in l/100 km for diesel: combined from 8.1 to 6.7. CO2 emissions in g/km for diesel: combined from 214 to 176; efficiency class D to C.
The fuel consumption of the Transporter BlueMotion has been further reduced com-
pared to a Transporter model with BlueMotion Technology: with an average of just
6.3 l per 100 km, the Transporter BlueMotion is the most economical vehicle in its class.
This result has been achieved thanks to a combination of an efficient 2.0 l TDI engine
with 84 kW
4)
and several fuel-reducing measures.

Safety.
You should not only feel comfortable in the Transporter but safe too. An intelligent,
comprehensive safety system gives you support during the journey and offers you
the best possible protection from injury in the event of an accident.
Airbags. Whether you have to drive out to building sites or on main roads and motorways every day, you should have optimal protection.
The Transporter is therefore standard equipped with airbags for the driver and front passenger. Side and head airbags are optionally
available for the cab (see illustration). When a 2-seater front passenger bench seat is selected, it is not possible to order side or head
airbags. The front passenger airbag can be deactivated by using the vehicle key.

these alter the vehicle height.
Daytime driving lights (not illustrated).
The separate lights integrated in the
headlights are switched on automatically
when the ignition is activated and lower
the risk of an accident in daylight. If
you select the optional bi-xenon head-
lights for your vehicle, the daytime
running lights will be fitted with ener-
gy-saving LEDs.
17" brakes (not illustrated). The dual
piston brakes on 17" running gear have
greater reserves of safety and are
more powerful to ensure a safe arrival.
Electronic brake pressure distribution
(EBD). When the vehicle weight is
transferred to the front wheels during
braking, EBDprevents the rear wheels
from locking.
Electronic Stabilisation Programme
incl. electronic differential lock (EDL).
The electronics can prevent the ve-
hicle breaking away through controlled
inter ven tion in the brake and engine
management.*
Seat belt warning. When the seat belt
is not fastened, the seat belt warning
gives the driver a visual and acoustic
warning as a reminder to fasten the
belt before setting off on your journey.
Tyre monitoring display. Should there
be changes in pressure on any of the
four tyres, a symbol is displayed to warn
the driver to check tyre pressures as
soon as possible.
Anti-lock brake system (ABS). ABS pre-
vents complete wheel lock and therefore
significantly improves the vehicles
manoeuvrability when full braking is
applied.
Brake assist system. It recognises
the speed at which the brake pedal is
actuated. In the case of ref lex or
emergency braking, the system builds
up full brake pressure more rapidly.

Comfort.
A Transporter has never been as comfortable as it is today. Many equipment options,
otherwise only to be found in passenger cars, are available for you on request
powerful air conditioners, well-thought-out ventilation concepts and innovative
driver assistance systems, to mention but a few.
ParkPilot. An acoustic warning is sig-
nalled to show the driver the distance
between the vehicle and obstacles when
parking. In addition to the acoustic
warning, the display of the RCD 310
radio or radio/navigation systems
gives a visual indication.
Side Assist lane change assist. Should
the sensors register a vehicle in the
blind spot when you change lanes, the
system will warn you via a visual signal
in the door mirror.
Turning lights. The inner fog light on
the bend illuminates the edge of the
road when you are turning off at a speed
of 40km/h or less. Possible dangers can
therefore be recognised more quickly for
greater safety during the journey.
For short wheelbase only.
Rear Assist reversing camera. A cam era
at the rear helps you to park. It trans-
mits an exact image of the area behind
your vehicle to the display of the navi-
ga tion system and shows you the antici-
pated path.
Electric II package and Electric III package. The Electric II package corresponds to the
Electric I package but also offers an electric folding function for the door mirrors.
For the Electric III package, the door mirrors are additionally painted in the vehicles
colour.
Electric I package. The Electric I pack-
age consists of electrically heated and
adjustable door mirrors and electric
windows. The corresponding switches
are integrated on the drivers and front
passengers door.
Light and Sight package (not illus-

with a coming home and leaving
home function illuminates the area
around the vehicle for more safety
when getting in and out. The rear view
mirror dims automatically when the
lights of the vehicle behind are too bright.
This gives you better forward visibility.
In addition, a rain sensor in the mirror
registers even light rainfall on the
windscreen and activates the windscreen
wipers immediately.

1) Only with short wheelbase and normal roof. 2) A reduced GVW rating is possible as an option for vehicles with a short wheelbase and normal roof (not for Transporter Rockton/Rockton
Expedition). 3) Standard gross vehicle weight (not for Transporter Rockton/Rockton Expedition). 4) An increased GVW rating is possible as an optional extra (3.2 t GVW is standard for
Transporter Rockton/Rockton Expedition). 5) As the first step for the Dropside Van, please select the Chassis in the online configurator. 6) The weights listed here already take weight
differences for medium high and high roofs into consideration. 7) Length x width x height. Vehicle width includes door mirrors.
The vehicle drawings are not to scale. Payloads depend on the engine version. Equipment can result in an increase/decrease in the unladen weight and consequently affect the payload. Please
contact your local Volkswagen dealer for the appropriate information. The payload ranges listed here have been established bearing in mind equipment that can be selected or omitted, and
other features which do not belong to the standard scope of delivery or standard specifications. A vehicles actual payload, which results from calculating the difference between the gross
vehicle weight and the unladen weight, can only be determined by weighing the individual vehicle.
Further vehicle data and details on the availability of individual combinations of gross vehicle weight, engine, gearbox and body versions are given in the price list and technical data pamphlet,
and on the Internet at www.volkswagen-commercial-vehicles.com

* The fuel consumption and emission values listed here have been ascertained in accordance with the measuring method stipulated. These figures do not refer to a particular specific vehicle
and do not constitute part of the offer but are purely for comparison purposes between the various types of vehicle. In addition to the fuel efficiency of a vehicle, driving behaviour as well as
other non-technical factors (such as environmental conditions) play a role in determining a vehicles fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. In addition to weather and traffic conditions, extra
equipment and accessories (attachment parts, tyres, etc.) may change vehicle parameters such as the weight, rolling resistance of the tyres and the aerodynamics, and thus influence the fuel
consumption and driving performance values. Note in accordance with the currently valid version of directive 1999/94/EC: A guide on the official fuel consumption and the official specific
CO2 emissions and power consumption for all new passenger car models is available free of charge at every point of sale in the European Union and, for prospective buyers in Germany, at
DAT Deutsche Automobil Treuhand GmbH, Hellmuth-Hirth-Strasse 1, 73760 Ostfildern. Efficiency classes evaluate vehicles based on CO2 emissions while taking the unladen weight of the
vehicle into consideration. Vehicles that comply with the average are classified as D. Vehicles that are above the current average are classified as A+, A, B or C. Vehicles that are below average
are characterised as E, F or G.
