NOTTE STELLATA ITALIANA
ITALIAN STARRY NIGHT
GOOD WINE, GOOD FOOD AND GOOD FRIENDS
The 2014 Gala, our most elegant event, provides a great
evening among friends, fantastic food and amazing
entertainment at 6:30 p.m. on November 1, 2014.
This joyful evening acts as the launching pad for our
most signicant fund raising event of the year. The
anchor of our fundraising is our stunning Silent
Auction which offers Italian food baskets, oils, liqueurs
and wines to the successful bidders.
The evening begins with a serenade of soft music, a
glass of prosecco and mouthwatering hors doeuvres.
Guests will be able to admire the auction items prior to
the evenings dinner.
As we move into dinner, we will begin our journey
through the taste sensations provided by the nest
Italian chefs in Dallas. This enchanted evenings multi-
course Italian style menu will be accompanied by wine
of your choice. Finish your meal with mounds of sweet
Italian cookies crafted by our own members, a steaming
espresso and palette pleasing gelato.
The evening pace accelerates with music and dancing.
This is not an evening to be missed!!
Donations of all sizes and dedicated volunteers are
welcome.

premier event of the year ~
NOTTE STELLATA ITALIANA
ITALIAN STARRY NIGHT
Scheduled for Saturday evening, November 1, at our spectacular home
The Italian Club of Dallas, 14865 Inwood Road, Addison.
As you may know, this event is our major fundraiser of the year and
it can take place only with the help of our supporters. We would like
to ask for your support in making this evening come alive through
event underwriting. Our Underwriters are the foundation of each
ICD celebration, helping cover the events operational expenses so that
as much of the revenue generated as possible returns to the Club for
programming, community outreach, and much more. These funds are
vital to the ICD to serve as the Metroplexs most important informal
ambassadors of Italian life and culture.
Notte Stellata Italiana Underwriters will enjoy several benets for their
support including complimentary tickets to the event, premiere table
locations for dinner and dancing, recognition before, during and after the
event and much more.
All donations are tax deductible. Sponsorships are available at a variety
of giving levels and can be made directly at the Italian Club or here on-
line.
2014 Underwriting Levels
Stella Oro - $3,000 (includes 10 Gala tickets)
Stella Argento - $2,000 (includes 8 Gala tickets)
Stella Bronzo - $1,000 (includes 4 Gala tickets)
Stella Blu - $250 (per case of wine for our Silent Auction)
Additionally, donations can be made for an amount of your choosing.
No donation is too small and every contribution of funds, sponsorships
and time will be greatly appreciated! If you have any questions regarding

TAPENADE
DID YOU KNOW?
that Amadeo Pietro Giannini the founder of the Bank of America and
fondly known as Americas banker was through his banks the rst to
offer home mortgages, auto loans and installment credit? Also, that he
was the rst to offer his employees prot sharing and stock ownership
plans?
that Giannini and the Bank of America withstood the Great
Depression intact and was instrumental in funding the survival of large
industrial and agricultural interests as well as the movie industrys United
Artists, Walt Disney and even the Golden Gate Bridge which would not
have been built when it was were it not for Gianninis civic and regional
farsightedness in funding the bridges construction.
that Giannini said he didnt want to be rich. His philosophy was that
a man didnt own his fortune, his fortune owned him. To him he didnt
see money as the worlds greatest resource; it was people that he saw as
the greatest commodity.
that Giannini did not usually take a salary. At one time his board
of directors voted him a $1,500,000.00 bonus which he immediately
donated to charity. He used most of his money to start charitable
foundations. At his death in 1949 his estate was valued at a modest
$500,000.00.

STATE FAIR OF TEXAS PERFORMANCES

Museum on Sunday, October 19. A fag ceremony is presented at 11:00
a.m., and our rst performance will be sometime between noon and 2:00

again at 6:00 p.m. We would love to see you in the audience as we join
other cultural groups in sharing our traditional dances with the many
fairgoers who will be there that day. Call Carrie 214-886-6498 or Maria

SPECIAL OLYMPICS AND HUNGER BUSTERS READY TO GO
As of this writing our Hunger Busters and Special Olympics Bocce
Tournament Charitable Outreach each have more than adequate
complements of Italian Club volunteers to monitor the Tournament and
to start off the school year at Hunger Busters. Most gratifying has been
the response of twenty-two of our members volunteering to monitor the
Special Olympics Bocce Tournament. This is not to say that our Hunger
buster volunteers who persevere throughout the entire school year arent
greatly appreciated as well.
The long range weather forecast promises a sunny day for the
Tournament. Look for details of the Tournament in the November issue
of Il Cicerone and for future ICD Charitable Outreach initiatives.
And as always, please seriously consider volunteering a few hours a
month not only for our Charitable Outreach but also for other functions
and events that help our Club. Check our newsletter for volunteer
possibilities that may appeal to you.

WESTFEST 2014
Remember the little town of West on I-35 as you head south, before Waco? West celebrates its Czech heritage every year with a three-day festival on Labor
Day weekend. A year ago last spring the town suffered a terrible tragedy when a fertilizer plant exploded and caused the death of several volunteer remen,
much suffering, and loss of homes. The town did not give up but is rebuilding and continued its festival both last year and this past Labor Day weekend on
August 30 and 31.
Many dance groups representing various cultures were invited to perform and received a fee, as did our I Colori Italiani and I Piccoli Colori, who returned to
Westfest after a lapse of several years. Members who performed include Bill Lombardi, Frank DeSimone, Andrew Chobany, Carrie Harris, Maria Chobany,
and Anna Battaglia, who is studying in Italy and was home for the summer. Children dancing included Lauren Lee, Alyssa Calo, Elizabeth Bushey, and
Shanna Miletta. Spotted in the audience was former dancer Bryan Pettersen and his family and also ICD friend, David Monk. A person from Austin in the
audience chatted after the show about how much she enjoyed our dances and recollected similar dances she had seen in Italy.
Not only was there dancing but also food booths with Czech specialties such as kolaches and sausage, polka bands for everyone to enjoy, games, and rides.
The popular Grammy-award winning band, Brave Combo, is always one of the favorite bands and had the super-huge tent packed with dancing festival goers.
