Voice To IR Translator For Remote Control In Homes
Abstract
With more and more household electronic appliances using remote controls, it can sometimes
become complicated to operate various appliances. Especially so when you are using a device that
you are not very familiar with. Also with so many settings on devices these days it has become
difficult to put all the functions on remotes. To overcome this problem on certain devices like TVs
the manufacturers have started adding menus through which you can select the settings. But then
for a user not familiar with these menus the process becomes even more complicated.
Hence there is a need for a device or a system through which the user is no longer dependent on the
remote controls, and also not restricted by the number of buttons on the remotes. This project aims
at a replacement for a conventional remote through a voice based remote control device that can
take the voice commands from the user and convert them into IR signals that are similar to the
signals of conventional remote.
With this project the user no longer has to remember buttons and the functions. All the user has to
do is to say the operation and the device will interpret the voice command and convert the voice
into a IR signals equivalent to the signals created by the appliances remote control.


Existing System
1. IR based conventional remotes that require the user to operate manually.
2. The user has to remember the function of the buttons and the devices operation etc.

Proposed System
1. A voice based system that is very easy to use.
2. This will be a universal system and the user does not have to remember any settings or
information specific to the appliance.
3. This can be used by anyone and also in multiple languages.
