We are presented with a typical advert for a beauty product, in this case perfume. The model sits left or centre of the frame with the perfume bottle sitting either left or right bottom corner in front. The colour purple is the main colour presented here. It connotes that link with part of the title being named as midnight. Midnight colours are often referred to as a deep blue or navy or a deep purple. Both purple and blue is used within this advert. Purple is also seen on the lipstick that Emma Watson is wearing, a tint of it shown within the title Tresor Midnight Rose and in the lighting. The idea of midnight is obviously the main theme here within this advert. Furthermore we have one light directed at a small section from the side of her face and neck. This could indicate moonlight because of that glow and contrast between the lighter and darker parts on her body. A female is represented for this advert because there is no masculinity within the title or bottle. A male would not fit the purpose, therefore having a female; it gives off that flirty, mysterious feeling. I would also say that due to the name of the perfume it could also give off that wanting to go on a date wearing that perfume because it signifies flirty. Emma Watson is in fact French therefore using her as the cover of their French stylised advert fits the picture. Also they may have used Emma to appeal their brand as her fan base, for example women aged 25-35. She seems to be having her head facing downwards but her eyes are gazing up as if she is looking at the midnight sky. Her strong hold of the open mouth could imply a gasp that she likes what she sees or wants what she sees. Even though she is not looking at the audience directly, she is still drawing out attention to her eyes and what she is looking at. It drives the audience crazy because they want to know what shes looking so intrigued for. Her makeup is dark; again it reflects that flirty feeling. In fact I would call it a devious look, where a woman would tend to look her best for someone in order to impress. The way she is dressed also, her chest is out with a deep blue covering her shoulders. The darker colours always appeal more on a woman because it makes the skin look darker and more tanned which is strangely quite appealing for woman. I also noticed that on one of the necklaces that shes wearing there are two stars. This could be a hidden link into the idea of midnight again with the night sky being covered in stars for example. The shot is a medium shot where it has only captured her face and just below her shoulders. In focus is Emma Watson with the background behind blurred. Its hard to tell whether or not the blurred background is just a colour or scenery behind her due to the odd blue and black/ brown shown by the side of her head. I believe its just the colour but Im not 100% certain. The image is smooth and high key of light. Bold, intriguing colours are used to fulfil the image, not a patch of white is seen. The font style on Emmas head represents again that flirty touch to the advert. It signifies that French style, italic has a French connection with it. Its also in that shade of purple connecting itself with the rest of the advert features.
