(a) comparative

Objectives : By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to:
(i) find at least 5-10 adjectives in the passage.
(ii) complete the table with correct form of comparative adjectives.
(iii) describe the animals with the adjectives.

Teaching Aids : word cards, task sheet, pictures of animals.
Steps:
Set Induction
1. Teacher pastes pictures of an elephant and a cat on the whiteboard. Pupils talk about
the pictures.
Presentation
1. Teacher explains what the adjectives are.
2. Teacher introduces the words of adjectives using word cards.
3. Teacher distributes a passage to each pupil and reads the passage with the pupils.
4. Teacher asks pupils to identify and circle the adjectives found in the passage.
Practice
1. The pupils learn the comparative form of the adjectives through word cards.
i) Prepare word cards of adjectives in different colours. (For example; the
adjectives big and bigger on the green word cards, while the adjectives small
and smaller in pink )
ii) Teacher distributes the word cards to the pupils.
iii) Pupils look for their partners with the same colour of word cards.
iv) Pupils paste the word cards on the whiteboard.

2. Teacher drills on the words.
3. Pupils are then given the task sheet, and write the correct comparative forms of all the
adjectives in the task sheet, with the teachers guidance.
Production
4. In groups, pupils choose their two favourite animals.
5. On a piece of paper, pupils use adjectives to describe the animal that they have chosen.
6. The activity begins and the teacher observes them.
7. Discussing the words.
Closure
1. Teacher asks the pupils to read again the passage with correct stress and pronunciation.








Siti has a cute cat, Kiko. It is black. It has a long tail and
short whiskers. It has a pair of bright eyes. It is
mischievous. It likes to sleep in the small round basket. It
drinks fresh milk and eats fish. She bathes Kiko with clean
water twice a week. Kiko likes to play with its four adorable
kittens.
