1. Cardinal Numbers
A cardinal number gives information about how many. Since cardinal numbers show
quantities, they are also called counting numbers.

The use of cardinal numbers:
To tell the time, date, and phone number
Example:
1. I go to school at 06.15.
2. She will visit me on November 17, 2012.
3. Her number is 081234622145.
To show the speed
Example: 80 kph, 120 kph, etc.
To show the price
Example: Rp 56.000,00, $ 12, $ 98, etc
To show physical appearance, such as weight and height
Example: 40 kg, 167 m, 153 m, etc.
2. Even Numbers
Even numbers are numbers that can be divided by 2.
Example: 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, etc.
3. Odd Numbers
Example: 1, 3, 5, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, etc.
4. Decimal
Example: 1. 0,5 = zero point five 3. 7,4 = seven point four
3. 3,8 = three point eight
5. Simple Calculation
Example: 1. 7 + 9 = 16 (seven added by nine is sixteen)
2. 11 10 = 1 (eleven subtracted by ten is one)
3. 5 x 6 = 30 (five times six is thirty)
4. 12 : 3 = 4 (twelve divided by three is four)
6. Friction
Example:

7. Ordinal Numbers
Ordinal numbers explain the order of things in a set: first, second, third, etc. They are used
to show dates and rank or position.

Interviewer : Where do you live in Jakarta.
Alya : I live with my uncle in Depok, not in Jakarta.

Interviewer : Where and when were you born, Alya?
Alya : I was born in Purwokerto, on the twenty-eighth of February nineteen
ninety.
Interviewer : How many siblings do you have?
Alya : I have one brother and two sisters. I am the second child in my family.
Interviewer : What are your parents?
Alya : My father is a teacher in Purwokerto and my mother is a nurse, also in
Purwokerto.
Interviewer : Does your uncle in Depok has a telephone?
Alya : Yes. His number is 021 5466 388.
Interviewer : Whats your phone number?
Alya : My number is 081 325 114 243.
Interviewer : What are your skills?
Alya : I can make programs on a computer and I have a TOEIC Certificate. My
score is 750.
Interviewer : Very good. Do you really want to work in this company?
Alya : Yes, sir, I do.
Interviewer : OK, I have seen your application. Next week, on Monday, September the
eighth, please come here again to see the announcement whether you are
accepted or not.
Alya : Thank you, sir. Can I leave now?
Interviewer : Yes, and please ask another applicant to come in.
