1. Motivation
Title of the game: PICK ME UP
The teacher will divide the class into three groups and discuss the mechanics of
the game.
Game Mechanics:
Each group should have an equal number of members (10 members).
The teacher will provide game materials: chop sticks, marbles and 2 boxes for
each group.
There will be a starting point in which each group should line-up and then
boxes and marbles will be place in a table 2 meters away from the starting
point.

TECHNO 7- Electronics
The main objective of the game is that each member of the game should pick
a marble in a box and transfer it to the other box using a chop stick.
A member can only change player once he/she already transferred a marble
to another box. If marble is not safely transferred like it falls outside the
other box it should return to the first box before the player can pick it again
using chop stick.
Each group will only have 3 minutes to play the game and the group that will
have the most number of marble transferred will be the winner of the game.

2. Lesson Proper
Teachers Activity Students Activity

Today we are going to discuss all about safety
requirement with the use of PPE but first what is
PPE?

Correct! Thats the PPE and this is specialized
clothing or equipment worn by the employees
for protection against health and safety hazards.
PPE is designed to protect many parts of the
body such as eyes, head, face, hands, feet and
ears.

So class, can you give me examples of PPE?

So now lets talk about safety requirements. Who
knows about the safety requirements and what
are the things to consider ensuring safety?

Great!

Now lets try to elaborate further safety

Maam PPE refers to Personal Protective
Equipment.

Maam examples are gloves, googles, hard
hat, chemical proof clothing, ear plug and
boots.

Maam safety requirements are things need
consider at work or using tools and equipment
such as:
Follow all cautions, warnings, and
instructions marked on the equipment.
Ensure that the voltage and frequency
rating of the power outlet matches the
electrical rating labels on the system.
Use properly grounded power outlets.

Maam! Weight of the tool. We should use the
lightest weight tool possible to avoid injury.

requirements by hand tool design, selection and
setup. Okay class what is the first thing to
consider in hand tool design?

Yes, thats right! You should avoid using heavy
tools as possible so you can do work easily.

Now the second one is balance. Balance is
needed to consider especially when lifting heavy
tools. Now class, could you give the proper way
of lifting tools?
Very Good! Okay, whats next requirement to
ensure safety in tool selection?
Nice! Torque is simply refers to tendency of
object to rotate while applying force into it. One
of the very good examples of tool which require
torque control is hand drill. Now who can give
me the best way to control torque?
Yes thats correct. For example while using hand
drill; you have to make sure that it is not set
above the recommended setting to avoid
accident.

Next is Grip. Could you give me the best design of
the tools that will allow user to make stable and
efficient grip?

Very Good! One of the good example of tools
which you can use grip are cutters and pliers.

Maam The tool's center of gravity should be
close to the body, close to the handles, and in
line with the center of the hand holding the
tool.

Maam, the next one is torque control.

Maam Torque settings should be set to the
minimum required by job specification.

Maam, the tool handle should be cylindrical
or oval in shape, with a diameter between
1.25 and 1.75 inches. Tool handles should
contact as much of the hand and fingers as
possible. Grips should be made of non-slip
compressible and nonconductive material.
Avoid form-fitting handles (handles with
finger grooves), since they may not fit the
hand size of every user. Handles should be
kept clean and free from slippery grease, oil,
or sweat.

Maam the open span should be about 4
inches and the closed span should only be
about 1.5 inches.

Lets proceed to the next one which is Span.
In tool design span refers to the distance
between the two handled manual tools. You
should be able to use the hand tools easily if it is
designed with good span. Could you give me the
recommended open span for two handled tools?

Great! How about the spring-loaded handle
tools? What are the advantages of it and what
are the good examples of these kinds of tools?

Very Good! Spring-loaded handle tools simply
have springs that are usually made out of steel
which makes tools more convenient and easy to
use as it automatically retract or expand and you
only need to apply a minimum force to use it.

Now, lets proceed to the next thing to consider
in tool selection which is shape. Tool shape is
very important in selection. You have to select
the right tool shape for your specific work. For
example you need to drill something, then you
need to use a pistol-shape tools like hand drill
but you should also need consider the proper
way on how to use it. Did you know??

Nice answer.

Okay then lets discuss about positioning and
good posture while working! Can you give me
some tips what are the things we need to avoid
while working?

Good! While working it is better you do not bend
your body as it may cause back pain especially

Maam! A spring-loaded mechanism saves
muscular effort and reduces mechanical stress
on the backs and sides of fingers for such tools
as scissors, pliers, and other manual cutting
and gripping tools which have to be opened
and closed repeatedly during use.

Yes maam, Pistol-shaped tools should be used
on a vertical surface or on a horizontal surface
below waist height. We also need to bend the
tool, not the wrist.

Maam, we need to:
Avoid bending over your work.
Avoid overhead work if possible. Use
a ladder to reduce the need for
outstretched arms.

when you need long hours to do your work. For
overhead work like painting, you should avoid
stretching because your body may experience
imbalance that let you fall and cause injuries.

Now class, could you give the proper position
and strategy at work?

Yeah! Thats right.
If your body needs to use your elbows like
cutting, It is better your elbows are close to the
body to avoid muscular fatigue. Also, you need to
consider proper positioning of your wrist while
using hand tools to avoid injuries.

Now class, what is the good tip if youre in
standing position while working? Usually when
you required long period of time to finish your
work.

Great! Good point. Resting your foot while
standing may also prevent muscle fatigue on
your legs.

How about while sitting? What is the good
position of your body while working?

Exactly! It is very good tip if youre working while
sitting cause it will allows your body to be more
comfortable and easy to move while you are in
proper position.

Now that we have discussed important factors in
safety requirements we are now able to minimize
cause of accidents and injuries while working.
Now class just to summarized what we discussed,

Maam, we need to:
Keep the elbows close to the body
Tilt the work surface instead of the
wrist.

Maam, we should stand with weight evenly
distributed on both feet. When standing for
long periods of time, rest one foot on a sturdy
object above floor height and switch legs
periodically.

Maam, Sit up straight so the chair offers good
back support. Adjust the chair back so it
comfortably supports the natural curve of the
lower back. Adjust the seat height to allow
thighs to be parallel to the floor.

Maam! In tool design, selection and set-up
we have to consider:
Weight
Balance
Torque control

3. Application
Instructions
1.
Cut electrical wire (see Resources) to the length you want for your cable. The length of
your cable will depend on your use for the extension cord. If your main use will be long
outdoor runs, plan accordingly. Likewise, if you only need a short cable for a specific
application, cut the wire to the length you need.
Strip the insulation from both ends of the wire to expose about 3/8 to 1/2 inch of bare
wire on each lead.
Unscrew the cover from the male plug that will go on one end of the extension cord.
Most plugs will have two or three screws on the face of the plug. Take the screws out
and the cover will slip off. Slide the cover onto the electrical cord, on the end where
you'll be mounting the plug.
Connect the leads of the wire to the plug. Loosen the screws and slip one lead under
each of the screws. Tighten the screws down to hold the wires securely, then slip the
cover over the plug and tighten in place with its screws.
Repeat the actions of Steps 3 and 4 on the other end of the extension cord, this time
with the female plug. When the plug is connected you've completed making an
extension cord.
