Welcome Rev. Chris Fuss
Welcome to Aldersgate and to this worship experience! Please take a moment to sign the
attendance pad found at the end of each pew and then pass it down to your neighbor. If you
have a prayer request please complete the blue card found in your pews and pass it to the
ushers during the opening hymn. Kindly silence all electronic devices as we prepare to worship.

*Call to Worship Susan Reed
Leader: Come, lets sing out loud to the LORD!
People: Lets raise a joyful shout to the rock of our salvation!
Leader: Lets come before Him with thanks!
People: Lets shout songs of joy to Him!
Leader: The LORD is a great God.
People: The great king over all other gods. Psalm 95:1-3

*Opening Hymn 160 Rejoice, Ye Pure in Heart MARION

*Opening Prayer
Abba Father we give you thanks and praise that you loved us first. We thank you Lord that
we always have joy and hope in your Son Jesus Christ. Send your Holy Spirit to us that we
may always have prayer on our lips and that we may give you thanks in all circumstances.
Help us Father to always walk in your will. We ask these things in the name that is above all
names Jesus Christ. Amen

Come Now Children
All children are invited to come forward as the congregation sings:
Come, now, children, this is your time; God loves you, we love you,
you are the gift of our church!

Childrens Message Rev. Chris Fuss
Following the Children's Message children may return to sit with their families or attend
Children's Church (for children ages Pre-K through 5th grade) downstairs. Following the
Worship service children in Pre-K and Kindergarten may be picked up from room 105 by their
parents/guardians. Children in grades 1st through 5th may be picked up from room 106 by
their parents/guardians.
AMP is currently in search of a Guitarist with intermediate to advance skill levels. This
position requires attending practice on Thursday nights, providing music for the AMP service
on Sundays at 11:30 and a willingness to support other musical activities within the church
and community. For information, contact Chelsea at CA.Morse109@gmail.com.

Quarterly financial statements will be mailed in the coming week. Contact Don Fritz if you do
not receive your copy. donchv@comcast.net or 434.295.7444.

AUMC Hosting Womens PACEM Aldersgate will once again be hosting the womens
homeless shelter beginning November 15th through November 22nd. If you are not familiar
with this ministry, the program provides shelter and a pillow for every head during the cold
winter months. We will be collecting items for the week beginning Sunday, October 19
th

through Sunday, November 9
th
. Donation boxes will be located in the Welcome Center and Sip
-n-Chat areas. Personal items: Chapstick, heavy winter womens gloves, lotion, ladies socks
(athletic and dress), new or gently used bath towels and washcloths. Food: Gum/mints/hard
candy, snack bags of potato chips, pretzels, Cheetos, soft snack bars, tea bags, hot chocolate
mix, lemonade mix, sugar and Splenda. We would also like to have a selection of recent
women magazines. Monetary contributions will be accepted through November 9
th
which
will be used to buy food and paper goods during the week and help with other expenses
related to hosting the program. Please make your check payable to AUMC with PACEM listed
on the memo line. For more information contact Deb Reynolds (295-8217), Leatha Harlow
(975-0633) or Nancy Berman (973-6555).

On Sunday, October 26, we will begin a churchwide study and worship emphasis called
Treasure: A Stewardship Program on Faith and Money. The study
will be based on Jesus words, Where your treasure is, there your
heart will be also (Matthew 6:21).
Over a period of four weeks, we will look at the many ways that
our treasure (time, energy, money) affects our hearts. We will
consider how financial challenges in our personal lives affect our
relationships with people and with God. We will see how giving
helps to determine the way we feel and act. If you have stress related to money or feel there
may be more that God is calling you to do with your resources, this will be a helpful study.
At the end of the four weeks, we will have the opportunity to make personal commitments of
giving to Aldersgate Church for the coming year. All of us will receive commitment cards in the
mail, and the cards will also be available on Sunday mornings. We can fill out these cards and
bring them to worship on Sunday, November 16.
We look forward to an exciting month considering our treasure and Gods treasure.
Time has really been flying by and it's time to gather goodies for our college student exam
care packages! We'd like to have candy (bars or hard candies), gum, granola bars, mints,
crackers, pretzels, nuts, pencils/pens, hot chocolate, popcorn, the ever popular chocolate, or
other small items that you feel a stressed out college student studying for finals would enjoy.
These packages let the kids know that they are in the thoughts and prayers of Aldersgate
members and let them know that they are not forgotten. We will be collecting through
November 16, so leftover Halloween candy is just fine. If you'd like to contribute to the
mailing costs, you can leave money or checks in the office or in the offering plate marked for
postage for college care packages. Questions? Call Susan Reed at 973-0766 or email
reedr3va@netzero.com. Thanks for your help with this ministry!

It's Christmas in Cambodia Clara Biswas, our missionary in Cambodia is in the planning
stages of obtaining funds and materials for her children's annual Christmas
program. Clara works with the poorest of the poor, especially children in slum
areas and garbage dumps. Her program in Cambodia supports 620 students in
public schools by providing classes in such areas as music, computer science,
and art. It offers Sunday school and conducts Christmas and Easter programs
each year. This year, for the first time, Aldersgate would like to provide
funding to help the Christmas Program for the children continue. Monetary
donations will be accepted through Sunday, October 26th. (Make checks
payable to AUMC with Christmas in Cambodia in the memo line.) Please help
support Clara and her efforts to bring the loving spirit of Christmas to the children living in the
slums and garbage dumps of Cambodia. Our teachings tell us "To bring hope to the hopeless,
bring light to those who are in the dark, bring Christ to the poor, and share the love of
God, (Luke 4:18-19). Please contact Deb Reynolds rynldsdeb@yahoo.com with questions.

Trunk or Treat- Join us at Aldersgate UMC NEXT Sunday, October 26th from 4PM until 6PM for
Trunk-Or-Treat. This is a fun and safe event for children & families. We invite all children to
dress up and trick-or-treat from trunk to trunk! We ask that all children are accompanied
by an adult age 18+ and that no teenager or adult wears a mask that completely
covers her/his face. Families, classes, group of friends, and anyone else who would
like is invited to decorate a car! Everyone who decorates his/her/their trunk is asked
to bring candy (individually wrapped & store-bought) for the trick-or-treaters. Since
were expecting many children we are also asking church members to donate bags of candy. A
collection bin is available in the Narthex this Sunday for candy donations. ** If you are
planning to decorate a trunk please let Rachel know via email so that enough space is set aside
in the parking lot for decorated vehicles, thanks! rachelmiller@cvaumc.org **

Have an announcement to put in the bulletin or e-Note? Please send your submissions to
Aldersgate@cvaumc.org AND scottdavis@cvaumc.org. Weekly deadline is Wednesday NOON.
