Invention of Computers

Computer cannot make by a single person, it develops gradually and with combine efforts.
However, Charles Babbage is considered to be a father of computer. Charles Babbage was the
professor of mathematics. He also build analytical engine that was first mechanical computer
engine that could store programs, this idea was proposed in 1882. Unfortunately due to funding
issue the computer was never built when he was alive. After the death of Charles Babbage his
son Henry Babbage complete a portion of computer for basic calculations. Almost a Century
later, Konrad Zuse was made first program controlled computer in Germany. He named that
computer as Z1. Z1 was first programmable device after that Z2 and Z3 versions were
developed. In 1936 Turing machine was made by Alan Turing. It printed symbols on paper tape.
In the year 1937, the first electronic counterpart was made. It was called ABC which stood for
Atanasoff-Berry computer. The work on this computer continued until the year 1942. In the year
1943 ENIAC was build, it stand for Electronic Numerical Integrator. This project was initiated
by J. presper Eckert and John Mauchly at University of Pennsylvania. It took almost took 3 years
to build this computer. It was the first digital device which could be re-programmed and it took
more than 1800 square feet of space. It weighted almost 50 tons and 18000 vacumn tubes,
numerous capacitors. In 1953 IBM Publicly introduced 701, its first electric and mass produced
device. Later IBM introduced the IBM PC in 1981. Micro Instrumentation Telemetry Systems
(MITS) developed the first personal computer in 1977. First personal computer invented because
of invention of microprocessors. Microprocessor is a chip which is equivalent to thousands of
transistors. Because of this micro chip the size of CPU is decreased. Then later in year 1976,
Steve jobs and Steve Wozniak, founders of Apple computers developed Apple 1 and Apple 2.
The first portable machine was developed by Xerox PARC and they named it Xerox Note taker
after that the first laptop was made by Osborne Computer Corporation. It weighed 24.5 pounds,
had 5 inch display, 64 KB of memory. In 1986, IBM announced its laptop called PC convertible
which weighed 12 pounds. In 1994, the company introduced the IBM ThinkPad 775CD, the first
Notebook with CD-ROM.
So that, Computers was not invented by one person it developed gradually and change with the
passage of time. Computers are still evolving and changing so that we can see more and more
technological developments in this field now, we also replacing orders system and programs.
This all type of technological advancement reduces our workload.
