CREATIVITY AND INNOVATION
In the act of creating or in solving problems in creative ways we often go round and round in endless
circles wanting to pounce on an idea. Sometimes the answer or solution is right before our eyes but
we can't see it. In order to find the solution or solve the problem, we need to just look at something
familiar in a new and different way.
According to Webster creativity is marked by the ability or power to create to bring into existence,
to invest with a new form, to produce through imaginative skill, to make or bring into existence
something new.
The process of translating an idea or invention into a good or service that creates value or for which
customers will pay is innovation. To be called an innovation, an idea must be replicable at an
economical cost and must satisfy a specific need. Innovation involves deliberate application of
information, imagination and initiative in deriving greater or different values from resources, and
includes all processes by which new ideas are generated and converted into useful products.


















PROBLEM RECOGNITION
Women in India are today not safe and constantly feel pressure of the environment and fear of
being easily victimized from any nook and corner of the society. While India is generally safe for
foreign visitors, women are cautioned not to travel alone in India. The role and treatment of women
in society has recently become a hot political issue in the country, since the Dec. 16 gang rape of a
23-year-old student in New Delhi, who later died of her injuries, and whose case has led to
widespread protests in the region against violence against women. In India there are only few trains
in Indian Railways in which some of the train compartments are reserved for female passengers in
an effort to make their travel easier and more secure.
In todays scenario thousands of women use the city's suburban railway to commute every day,
comfortable and safe in the confines of the ladies compartment. But often, they are forced to share
this space with intruders-men who enter these coaches illegally. At times it is observed that ladies
compartments in trains are converted into general ones after 11 p.m. It's unnerving to see a large
number of men entering the coach but nobody to complain to and female passengers feel helpless.


















IDEA
In order to prevent male passengers from entering into ladies compartments the Railway Authorities
could use a SEX DETECTOR fixed in the door of the ladies compartment. This would detect whether
the person trying to enter the compartment is a male or a female passenger.
Once the detector senses that the person entering the compartment is a male passenger, the door
of the compartment will be closed and this will automatically disable the male passenger to enter
into the compartment and the door will open only when a female passenger is entering the
compartment.
The detector will work on the basis of smell of hormones in males and females. Males and females
have distinct circulating hormone levels. Males have high level of androgen whereas females have
higher oestrogen levels. Though not sensed by human nose certain smell detectors may detect this
hormonal level difference. In nature certain arthropods showing sexual monomorphism use this
technique to find their mates. Sexual monomorphism is similar external appearance but different
hormonal levels.
BENEFITS
This will enhance the safety and security of women travelling in trains especially late night.
This will also lead to reduction in hassles faced by women while travelling in train.
The ladies compartments having SEX DETECTORS will also be used by school and college
going girls thus protecting the female population in a larger way.
Requirement of Lady police officers in ladies compartment will also reduce.
Lead to introduction of ladies compartments in almost every trains.
