PROJECT REPORT
on
Systemizing a Hospital Management
System.

Introduction.

Cure international is a small private hospital which serves patients with small prescriptions
unlike the large operations. This hospital consists of specialized doctors and the patients can
channels them through phone and get the appointment. Once the prescription is done patients
will request the bill from the cashiers and they will pay asap.Further this hospital has the
facilities for staying there and getting the treatment.

The current system encloses everything manually. The patients have to fill the forms and channel
the doctor by visiting the hospital or over the phone.

Background.

Currently in cure international PVT patients has to come to the hospital to channel a doctor or
send someone there and get a number waiting in the queue and they have to come again to meet
the doctor. Further patients records are recorded in a manual system in the files and whenever the
patients visit the have to give the complete history over and over.

Further the billing has to be communicated manually with various departments. The cashier
needs to contact other departments as well to get the accumulated bills.

Further doctors are not aware about the patient’s appointment unless the receptionists inform
them. This make doctors work unorganized.

Information about various diseases is not kept as any document. Doctors themselves do this job
by remembering various medicines.
Everything has to be undertaken by the receptionist and it takes more and more paper work and
takes most of the time doing the

Proposed system

This system has two types of users

 Employees
 Patients

The system includes.

 Maintaining records of indoor/outdoor patients.

 Maintaining patients diagnosis details, advised tests to be done.
 Providing different test facilities to a doctor for diagnosis of patients.
 Billing report and payments.
 Booking hospital admission.

Goals of the proposed system

Easy to Operate: - The system should be easy to operate and should be such that it can
be developed within a short period of time and fit in the limited budget of the user.

No redundancy:- the system shouldn’t allow to repeat the same patient with same
prescription and channeling again and again.

Organized Work:- The working in the organization will be well planned and organized.
The data will be stored properly in data stores, which will help in retrieval of information
as well as its storage.

Accuracy and Reliability: - The level of accuracy and the reliability of the proposed system
should be very high.

Requirements.
Software requirements.

 Windows XP or windows vista operating system.

 Database MS ACCESS

Hardware Requirements.

 Hard disk 80 GB or higher.

 Pentium 04 or higher.
 RAM 512 or higher.

User requirements.

 Employees should have considerable amount of knowledge to interact with the system.
 For patients basic computer knowledge suffices.

Draw backs of the latest system

 Only available in English.

 No guest account is available.
 Users need to have a sufficient knowledge to handle the system.

ER diagram

For the ER diagram I have used the EDRAW MAX software trial version and I have pasted the image
here.
Relational Schema

Design.

 The proposed system is designed according to the above ER diagram.

 The HMS hospital management system has users and the users have employees and patient.
 If we take the employees it has two sub class’s receptionist and the cashier.
 Basically the patients channel the doctor through online directly and if they are unable to do
that they can call the receptionist she will channel the doctor on behalf of them.
 The entire user has the user name and password.
 Once the channeling is done doctor will prescribe the patients and the prescriptions can be to
take drugs, admit to hospital or take a test.
 Based on that instructions the patients will act and if it is a admitting he will book the ward and
admit his self through the system.
 Or else he will take the test or the drug.
 Finally he will pay the hospital through the cashier.
 The whole design consist of 11 entities with their attributes.
 The rectangle represent the entity the triangle represent the relationship and the oval
represents the attributes.
 Further the relationship is described as many to many and one to one and one to one in-
between the entities.

Conclusion.

Systemization of the hospital will eliminate the difficulties faced by the patients and the employees in
channeling, maintaining the record of the patients and the payment process. This can be a turning point
for the hospital in achieving its goals.
