Ratna %i'' appear2 After%ard, he %i'' pass a%ay due to o&stac'es caused &y maras2 Again he
%i'' reappear, reno%ned &y the name :rnyon, the emanation of my heart2 5e %i'' ho'd the
'ineage of the hidden treasure teachings and %i'' &enefit a'' sentient &eings2;

Shamarpa/, and ,onchog Ratna -an emanation of

?hi'e he %as in the mother6s %om&, he cou'd c'ear'y hear a'' the %ords and meanings from the
outside2 5e %as &orn in the ?ood Sheep year at Satan Dor*e +a'ace accompanied &y many
7aried and significant signs2 @rom that time on, he %as constant'y in the meditation state2 $he
great Dharma protector Achi Chkyi Dro'ma ser7ed as his step"mother2 ?hene7er he %as
p'aying, a 7ery &eautifu' %oman %earing many *e%e's accompanied him as a p'aymate2 She
fu'fi''ed his thoughts %ithout his ha7ing to gi7e orders2 ?hen other attendants came, she %ou'd
disappear2
?hen he took refuge from his father, he %as gi7en the name ,onchog +huntsog2 8nce, %hen he
%as on the 'eft of his father, he sa% the manda'a of the fi7e deities of Chakrasam7ara in front of
the sky as a sun rising2 8nce, Aanmo of $ertrom , a fema'e Dharma protector, offered an
ornamenta' he'met as a sym&o' of great respect2 ?hen he %as fi7e years o'd, at the time of the
>e% =ear ce'e&ration, he sa% the great Rahu'a %ith magnificent po%er2 ?hen his father ga7e
the 1BB empo%erments of 'ong 'ife, he sa% .uddha Amitayus thum&"si(ed a&o7e the nectar in
the kapa'a and his Lord @ather6s &ody as a red heap of &urning fire2 ?hen the Lord @ather
performed the Medicine Nectar %ith empo%erment and the sadhana of the eight specia' deities,
he c'ear'y sa% the manda'a as a rain&o% pa'ace in %hich resided the 42 peacefu' and %rathfu'
deities2
Sometimes, the manda'a appeared in the sky as a rain&o%2 A'' the 'amas, dakas, and dakinis
%ere surrounded &y many offering gods and goddesses %ith dancing2 )a*racharya Chkyi
3ya'po himse'f appeared as the )idhyadara2 After finishing gi7ing empo%erment at the time of
the monk dances, he sa% Chkyi 3ya'po dancing %ithout his feet touching the ground2 ?hen
Chkyi 3ya'po %as spreading the f'o%ers in the manda'a, he sa% the mu'ti"co'ored f'o%er
&ecome a gar'and around the neck of the princip'e deity of the manda'a2 $he p'ace of the
medicine %as gi7ing off the sound of the mantra and radiating 'uminous 'ight2 At the assem&'y
of the empo%erment, he %as the eight dakinis and many other %rathfu' Dharma protectors, and
many %ondrous things2
8nce at the time %hen Chkyi 3ya'po ga7e the empo%erment of the fi7e deities of
Chakrasam7ara, he sa% him as the 5eruka himse'f2 ?hen the Lord @ather Chkyi 3ya'po got
sick due to some conditions, he ser7ed &y gi7ing a &ath and the %ater transformed into the nectar
of gods2 1mmediate'y, he -Chkyi 3ya'po/ %as cured2
8ften the father %ou'd pick him up in his hands and raise him o7er his head2 $his %as a sign
that he %as a reincarnation of Lord Ratna, Rinchen +huntsog2 $he father ga7e him many
teachings and ad7ice2
At the time of the passing a%ay of the Lord @ather, he made the se7en &ranches of offering, and
he aspired to fu'fi'' the %ishes of himse'f and a'' sentient &eings2 At the time of cremation, he
in7ited his e'der &rother Shamarpa Chkyi ?angchuk2 8ne time %hen %e %ent on pi'grimage
to Curre Dragkar, the #

Shamarpa offered him the name Rig(en Chkyi Drakpa $rin'ey >ampar

$hen he came to $se%a2 $here he took the se7en empo%erments of ,a'achakra2 $hen from
Sangye Rinchen, he and his &rother took a'' the commentaries of a'' the ,agyu 'amas and many
others2
@irst, he started memori(ing a'' the Dharma protector -Aahaka'a/ teDts2 $hen he had a 7ision of
co"emergent Chakrasam7ara and Aahaka'a c'ear'y as descri&ed in the teDt2 ?hen he came to the
Achi Chkyi Dro'ma sadhana, the fi7e chief attendants of Achi came to him and offered a crysta'
rosary around his neck2 $hen at the Ching ,yong -another Dharma protector/ teDt, he had a
7ision of =a&um %ith retinue dancing %ith t%o monkeys2
?hen the 'eader of the city =ar"gya& died, the Lord @ather %as in7ited to the cremation2 $hey
offered him many things inc'uding a sma'' &eautifu' knife %ith sheath2 $his %as offered to
Dharmakirti &y his mother2 5e 'o7ed this so much that one night he had a dream %here a
fearsome (om&ie made an unp'easant sound 5A 5A 5E 5E and tried to harm him2 5e sat on a
rock and said the se7en"sy''a&'e mantra of Chakrasam7ara2 ?hen he recited it 7ery 'oud'y, e7en
the earth mo7ed and the (om&ie cou'd do nothing to harm him2 After that, he regu'ar'y recited
that se7en"sy''a&'e mantra and a praise ca''ed $rag"3ya'ma2
>ot 'ong after this, in his dream he entered into a ce'estia' manda'a pa'ace surrounded &y
cemeteries2 5e sa% Shri 5eruka surrounded &y the dakas and dakinis en*oying a ganachakra
feast, and he %as fu''y empo%ered into that manda'a2
$hen one time, he %as <ua'ified in the study of =amantaka practice &y Lama $haye +huntsog, a
discip'e of Ratna2 5e 'earned the specia' tradition of reading $hi' from Lama 3edund 3yatsho -a
specia' reading of a'' the sy''a&'es of the 'etters that %as founded &y Lord Jigten Sumgn/2 $hen
he studied thangka painting comp'ete'y, &oth the o'd and ne% traditions, %ith 3e'ong +huntsog
$sering2
@rom his o'der &rother -the reincarnation of >aropa named $ashi +huntsog Drakpa 3ya'tshen/,
he 'earned a'' the =ang Ca& teachings -a terma teaching hidden &y +admasam&ha7a and re7ea'ed
&y Drigungpa Rinchen +huntsog/2 At that time, he remem&ered that he had recei7ed this
teaching from +admasam&ha7a2 At another time, he had a 7ery c'ear 7ision of =amantaka, the
Lord of Life2
?ith the )a*radhara, the great a&&ot >yangom +huntsog, he studied the SiD Dharmas of >aropa
and comp'ete'y rea'i(ed that practice2 @rom him he a'so recei7ed the teaching of .ardo $hodro'2
$hat night, he actua''y eDperienced di7ine %isdom disso'7ed into him &y +admasam&ha7a2
?hen he %as 11, he recei7ed the teachings and empo%erment of Loktri Rishi from >aropa2 5e
practices this for a 'ong time and got many %onderfu' 7isions and eDperiences2 $hen the #

Shamarpa %as in7ited to Drigung, and from him he 'earned a&out the 12 +urifications of the
Lo%er Rea'ms and other practices2
5e %ent to Samye Aonastery %ith his &rother2 $here he sa% the .uddha6s image as the rea'
.uddha2 $hen he had many different memories2 8n the second story of the monastery, he
remem&ered meeting Shanti Rakshita, +admasam&ha7a, and other discip'es2 5e had another
memory of &ui'ding a temp'e at the top of the 5a'po Aountain2
At Chim&hu, he sa% many dakinis doing prostrations and making offerings to Shamarpa2 At
,yiphug, he remem&ered that he %as the great yogi, Ae'ong Dor*e2 At =udrak, he sa% Lama
Shang singing the Aahamudra %ith different postures of the &ody2 At the Drak =angd(ong, he
sa% +admasam&ha7a %ith his t%o dakinis standing at his side2 At ?on $ak $shang Ca7e, he
heard the sound of the mantra of Singha Aukha -Lion"faced Dakini/2 At that ca7e, he made a
hand"print in the rock2 At ,hang Aar in Cangri, he studied %ith Aachig La&dron, the founder of
the Chd practice2 5e a'so heard the 7erses of the +ra*Faparamita and he sa% the statue of
$honyon Samdru& smi'e2
$hen he %ent to +hagdru Aonastery in the g'orious Samanta&hadra @orest2 1n the monastery, at
the image of Drogon Rinpoche +hagmo Drupa, he p'aced the .uddha6s teeth and many other
precious o&*ects and made many offerings in front of them2 ?hen he &ut a strand of hair, it %as
as hard as iron and a'' the peop'e %ere surprised2 ?hen he %as doing prostrations, the hat of the
Drogon image came do%n2
5e %as ordained as a no7ice monk &y Shamarpa Chkyi ?angchuk, as the a&&ot, and the other
re<uired num&er of monks2 @rom the Shamarpa he a'so studied the Leksey Gyatso -Ocean of
Elegant Sayings/2 5e studied poetry, the Word Ornament of Dandi, %ith genera'"secretary
,onchog2 @rom the manager Lungpa ?a, he 'earned different types of %riting2 5e recei7ed the
empo%erment of the 2G Root Aanda'a of Dor*e $reng%a -)a*ra Rosary/ from the Shamarpa and
studied the sadhana %ith him2 5e a'so recei7ed a'' the reading transmissions of the ,an*ur -the
.uddha6s teachings/2
5o%e7er, %hi'e he %as staying at Drigung $hi' for fi7e months, his passed &y the three %hee's2
?hen Shamarpa %ent to Curphue Aonastery, he stayed at Sa&uk Retreat Center2 ?hi'e he %as
there, the Ch ,hyong from Samye came and said that his 'ife %as in danger in Drigung and he
shou'd 'ea7e sooner2
5e %ent to see the Chakrasam7ara statue at Sinpora Aountain2 $hat statue appeared as the
actua' Chakrasam7ara and ga7e him empo%erment2 $hen at 3ong ,ar, he studied more from the
Shamarpa2 $hen he %ent to Lhasa for pi'grimage2 Aany 'ights radiated into him from the Jo
Shakyamuni statue and many others2 $hen he %ent to =er&a for pi'grimage and the image of
,ing Shuodana ga7e him a gem from his precious neck'ace2
5e had many memories from the time of Atisha and Drom $onpa2 ?hen he %ent to +henyu',
3anesha recei7ed him2 $he pottery image of the 3'orious Lord of Richoe appeared to him
actua''y2 At Ra(a&, %hen he sa% the image of the 11"@aced A7a'okitesh7ara, he remem&ered that
had made it in 1ndia during a pre7ious 'ifetime2
>o sooner had he returned to Cong Sar than their mother passed a%ay2 5e did a'' that %as
necessary for her comp'etion2 @rom the great yogi Sangye, he 'earned a&out @ire Ra(or
Repe''ing through =amantaka meditation practice2 At the time of these practices, he eDperienced
a'' the signs of the =amantaka practice and he %as face to face %ith =amantaka2
?hen he %as doing the sadhana for a 'ong time, he sa% the faces of the Aamo, $rang Song, and
Damchen -the three Dharma protectors of =ang Ca&/2 $he peop'e there sa% &'ood coming from
the face of the Aamo torma2 Sparks and smoke came out of the torma of $rang Song2 An
e'ephant trunk came from the torma of Damchen2 C'ouds and fire fi''ed his retreat house2 $hey
sa% the mirac'e po%er of the Eight Dharma protectors2 $hese signified that he had fu''y
perfected these practices2 ?hen he %as doing the sadhana of Rahu'a, there appeared many signs
that he o7ercame their po%er -they &ecame his su&*ects/2
5e took a'' the empo%erments and transmissions of Achi Chkyi Dro'ma, the great Dharma
protectress from Lord >aropa, his e'der &rother2 ?hen he %as doing the sadhana of Achi, once
in the morning %hen the sun %as rising, he sa% Achi and the fi7e deities of her retinue gracefu''y
dancing in the sky2
5e studied a'' of the %hite and &'ack astro'ogy %ith >amsey, the grandfather of .antrong Shopa,
and %ith the nephe% of Leyru ,henchenpa2 8nce he took the teaching of the karmic red %ind
%hich panic"strikes the three %or'ds2 8nce, %hen the Aongo's came to $i&et to harm &oth the
secu'ar and the re'igious, he protected from that harm through the po%er of the great %hee' of the
red %ind2
8ne time, Lord >aropa a'ong %ith many other monks %as doing the sadhana of the @our"armed
Aahaka'a for a7ersion of %ar2 8ne night the %ho'e Drigung p'ain %as fi''ed %ith cro%s %ith
shining feathers and f'ying around in a'' directions2
@rom the great A&&ot >am*om, he took the teachings a&out the channe's from the ?hisper
'ineage of Sha%ari -one of the 1ndian mahasiddhas/ and the %ind practice of the Caharpir
'ineage2 5e attained the rain&o% 7a*ra &ody2
,unchuk Richen -his o'der &rother/ came from Eastern $i&et %ith his retinue, and Dharmakirti
%ent to recei7e him at $she%ur ,har2 $hey offered him a 'ot of presents2
Lord >aropa and the great a&&ot ->am*om/ re<uested him to ho'd the seat at =angri 3ar
Aonastery -one of the head<uarters of the Drigung ,agyu/2 5e %as enthroned on an auspicious
day amid the ocean of assem&'ed monks2 5e tightened the discip'ine 7ery strict'y2
Soon, on the %ay to +henpo, he pi'grimaged to the ho'y p'ace ,harak and re7ea'ed another ho'y
p'ace, the $shechu Ca7e2 A'' the auspicious 7isions %ere %ritten do%n, and many foot and hand
prints %ere made in the rocks2 $hen he %ent to 7isit the Aahaka'a $emp'e at $h'e in 3ya't2
?hen he %ent to see the temp'e of Rahu'a and Damchen, he %as re<uested &y +a'den $se(ig -a
deity/ to go to +a'den $se2 $here, he had eDtraordinary 7isions of the +ure ?onderfu' +a'ace and
the eight Aahaka'as2 @rom them he recei7ed many of their practices, instructions, and
predictions2
?hi'e he %as doing the Aahaka'a sadhana at the ce'' of : >yon -a madman from Centra' $i&et/
at Lomo 3ya' Cemetery for se7en days, a'' the signs of the practice %ere accomp'ished2 8n the
'ast night, the eight Aahaka'as manifested in a yogi, in7ited on the Armo >ika Stone, and turned
the %hee' of feast offerings -ganachakra/2 $hen he %as gi7en the instructions, predictions, and
empo%erment of the eight Aahaka'as and their sadhanas2
?ith a fe% attendants, he took a 7isit to Lhasa2 ?hen he 'ooked at the Jo Rinpoche, many
peop'e sa% that statue smi'ed at him2 ?hen he %as at the 11"5eaded Chenre(ig, he remem&ered
many pre7ious 'ifetimes2 $hen he returned to Drigung2
5e took fu'' monk ordination from ,henpo Jyam&a Chkyi 3yatsho %hen he %as 1G2 @rom that
a&&ot, he took many Sarma ->e% $radition/ teachings2 5e a'so ga7e many >yingma -8'd
$radition/ teachings to the a&&ot2 5e did many sadhanas of ?hite Aan*ushri and ?hite Sorcery2
.y these practices, there is nothing that he did not understand a&out the .uddha6s teachings and
the commentaries2 5e achie7ed the rea'i(ation of the po%er of reco''ection2
$hen he %ent to Redreng from =angri 3ar -in Drigung/ 7ia Lung Sho2 $hen at Redreng
monastery, he touched his tongue to the s%ord tip of the Aan*ushri image and he achie7ed the
7ictorious po%er of speech2
As re<uested &y =u'gya', the head of the $artars, he 7isited >orthern $i&et2 ?hen &oth patron
and Dharmakirti %ent on pi'grimage to Aantsho Lake, he sa% 7ery c'ear'y the handprint of
+admasam&ha7a in the midd'e of the 'ake2 ?hen he spent one night at 3a'o Ca7e, in his pure
7ision he recei7ed the 'ong 'ife .uddha6s teaching of the >orth from +admasam&ha7a2 $he great
$hang Lha -a Dharma protector/ paid homage2
?hen he %as staying at Dhotse %ith a 'arge popu'ation of $i&etans and $artars, the $soman deity
appeared in the dog"dress and offered him a &a'' fi''ed %ith gems, a %ish"fu'fi''ing gem, and
much go'd2 $hen %hen he sa% Semodho Lake from a distance, he had a memory of his o%n
'ifetime as Chenga Shera& Jungne, one of the princip'e discip'es of Lord Jigten Sumgn2 At
Cade' he ga7e upasaka 7o%s to >ogyin 3ang%as Songpo -a Dharma protector/2 ?hen he %as
staying at 3ekya ,ok in Dam %ith a patron, he took the @our"armed Aahaka'a sadhana for
C'arification of 8&stac'es &oth for Drigung and the $artars2
5e performed the Detai' Cham -monk dance/ of ,agye, the specia' eight deities of the >yingma2
At that time he prophesi(ed that the king of the $artars %ou'd ha7e t%o sons2 $hen the $artar
king %ith many of his retinue escorted him for a 'ong distance2
$hen he %ent to >go2 At the re<uest of Lord >go at 3ya'drak, he performed the Eight Specia'
Deities Empo%erment %ith great e'a&oration2 8ne day he circumam&u'ated the manda'a %ith
some retinue and finished the sadhana of =ang Dik2 As he %as gi7ing that empo%erment, the top
part of the 7ase of =ang Dik 'e7itated a&out one foot high, a rain of f'o%ers fe'', and rain&o%s
appeared2 Aany mantra sounds %ere heard and may mar7e'ous sign appeared2 A'' the peop'e
there had a chance to see them2
$he neDt morning &efore da%n, in a dream in Samanta&hadra +a'ace, he met the sainted Chkyi
3ya'po -his father/ in the form of the princip'e deity of the manda'a of the Eight Specia' Deities2
5e a'so sa% 42 peacefu' and %rathfu' deities surrounded &y many retinues of )idhyadara2 A
great e'a&orate empo%erment %as granted2 5e performed ganachakra, and Chkyi 3ya'po
appeared to him in his rea' form and ga7e him many prophesies and pith instructions2
Dharmakirti then departed to Sho and at the re<uest of the :pper >go, he granted empo%erment
of the 8cean of 3em Lama, %hich %as re7ea'ed &y +adma Lingpa2 $here a'so appeared many
%onderfu' signs2 5e restored the monasteries that had dec'ined in the >go area2
8ne night %hi'e he %as in >amgya' Aonastery, >yengom -a Dharma protector/ appeared in
.rahmin form, and he remem&ered &eing the discip'e of >yen and %rote many stories from that
time2 $hen he came to Dagon Aonastery2 ?hen he %as gi7ing the SiD Dharmas of >aropa and
maturing those monks2 8ne night in the c'ear 'ight he %ent to Sanda'%ood Cremation +'ace -in
1ndia/2 $here, he recei7ed tummo empo%erment teachings direct'y from >aropa2
As the peop'e of 3yaton re<uested, he %ent there and ga7e many teachings and empo%erments2
At that time, %ith a great physician ,onchog 3ya'tsen of ,ongpo, he studied a'' of the art of
hea'ing and medicine2
5e %ent to Sharye' Ca7e through Lin(ong and >orthern Dana and the statue of Sangye =e'pa
smi'ed at him2 At Aiye' Ca7e, he remem&ered many of his precious 'ifetimes2 5e ga7e many
teachings to the monks in >angchen -in Eastern $i&et/2 1n the 7a''ey of Cashi ,hangmar he

$hen he 7isited $ingring Ca7e -Deep H Long Ca7e/ %here Dharma protector Achi Chkyi
Dro'ma had empo%ered the 'ineage of her four sons and from %hich she departed to the
&uddhafie'd2 5e 7isited $songu, a p'ace %here Lord Jigten Sumgn6s &irth took p'ace2 $hen he
7isited $sip Lungmo Che, the great meditation p'ace, 3ato'hadra, %here Chenga Drigung Lingpa
Shera& Jungne %as &orn, and other p'aces2
5e had a c'ear 7ision of the face of Saraha %ith the eight 3reat Aahasiddhas2 At Lang Chen
Aonastery, he su&dued a %i'd naga and ga7e him upasaka 7o%s2 $hat p'ace is 7ery co'd,
especia''y in %inter, yet he on'y %ore a cotton c'oth2 .ut he %as %armed through the &'a(ing of
the fire of tummo -psychic heat/ *ust &y thinking of it2
5e studied .on profound mantra and magic from an eDpert .on 'ama, A ,hoyng, and others2 A
.on 7i''age ca''ed >arsha Drongmo Che %as hosti'e to Dharmakirti6s camp2 5e su&dued them
&y fa''ing hai'2 $hen he tra7e'ed to Ri%oche, .a Jang 3ra $ak(ong, and Lithang, and he ga7e
many teachings to a'' sentient &eings there and esta&'ished their mature state2
$hen the #

Shamarpa and he %ent to Jang and other p'aces2 .y some immature action of
attendants, he ga7e up e7erything and %ent to ,ampo2 $hen a'' the attendants %ent there and
insisted and re<uested him to gi7e teachings2 5e accepted2 @o''o%ing this the trans'ator Lodo
+atempa asked him to stay %ith him, and he studied the great Sanskrit teDt Kalapa2
?hen he arri7ed at the p'ain of Serche, the peop'e got sma''poD disease2 $o pre7ent this, he did
a specia' =amantaka sadhana2 5e dreamt that he %as camping at the .ig Sno% Aountain and
others2 $his signified that he cou'd succeed2 And the Lord of the Disease appeared and he
su&dued him2
$hen he and some of his retinue %ent to the top of Chagra Aountain %hich %as %here the 3reat
$rans'ator .erotsama %ent2 A'' of the peop'e there %ere ama(ed and surprised2
$hen he %ent to Dartse Dho -in China/2 +eop'e there high'y respected him and offered many
precious things2 After going to Liu Cong Si -another Chinese pro7ince/, he predicted the future
and a'' peop'e %ere satisfied &y his gi7ing teachings and %ea'th2
1n Ja Aonastery in Jagy&, he met %ith the Shamarpa2 $hen he %ent to Lithag as they in7ited2
+eop'e there offered many .uddhist images, teDts, stupas, si'ks of 1ndia and China, and many
other %ea'th2 $hey re<uested him to pre7ent the death %hich %as caused &y a terri&'e epidemic2
So he through the =amantaka sadhana in that monastery pre7ented death for 21 years2
8n the side of a hi'', at a p'ace ca''ed $sam Chung, he printed a huge o'd Sanskrit 5:>3 -Lantsa
is the o'd Sanskrit %riting/2 At the head of the 5:>3, he put a c'ock%ise spira' she''2

Lama $ashi Dargye of +angda appointed him to the responsi&i'ity of =angri 3ar Aonastery -one

Jampa' Sin*e -=amantaka/, Loktri, @our"armed Aahaka'a, Chkyi Dro'ma, and many others of
the assem&'y of the three roots2 Chkyi 3ya'po asked him to re7ea' the 5idden $reasure from
$erdrom, many other teachings prophesi(ed, Aahamudra instruction2 5e -Chkyi 3ya'po/

nectars of teachings2

ga7e the name Jampa Ling -the center of 'o7ing"kindness/2 $here he ga7e teachings and

At that time he got the ne%s that there had &een conf'ict in Drigung &et%een &rothers and

country a ro&&er s%ept out the Dust Aanda'a from a &ig ta&'e and 'eft in the center of the ta&'e a
go'den 7a*ra2 >o sooner after that the $artar army came to Drigung and forcefu''y in7ited the
Lord >aropa, and they did some destruction2
$hen he 'eft for Drigung and he tried &y many means to &ring &ack the Lord >aropa2 .ut he

Chakhyung, he ga7e a'' the teachings of 3ongpa =ang Ca&2 Since Chakhyungpa -from
Chakhyung/ %as pure 3ongdu teaching asked him to come to Drigung2 $hen he %ent to
pi'grimage to +uriya&2 And on the %ay to Drigung he 7isited Daka 3ampo, Ae, and Samye2

the &enefit of others his monk dress changed into tantrika in the year of the @ire 5are2 5e
married to the daughter of $sangpa Desi from $sang, the ru'er of $i&et at that time2
$he first month of Earth Dragon, he performed the 3reat Aanda'a of 3ongdu to make a nectar
medicine2 Aany %onderfu' signs appeared2 $artars and others %ho harmed others ruth'ess'y,
%ho harmed the teachings "" he performed the spe'' %ith many sadhanas2 Aany outer and inner
signs appeared and thousands of $artar to%ns disappeared2

3ampo to 'ead the practice meditation at the assem&'y of monks2 $hey &oth ga7e teachings to
each other2 5e &ui't a ne% pa'ace at Cheru $aktse for his spiritua' %ife2 5e &ui't a huge
Comp'ete )ictorious Stupa at Csong Sar for Lord >aropa and consecrated it2 5e a'so &ui't
+admasam&ha7a image %ith good go'd and some others2
.efore there %as a 7ery short teDt on the practice of Aan*ushri =amantaka2 $he Lord
-Dharmakirti/ usua''y had the 7ision, so he made c'ear and e'a&orated the teDt2
8ne time %hen he %as practicing %ith recitation of mantra on the 11th Ahtro Chuchikpa, he sa%
the mirac'e po%er of Eight Specia' Dharma +rotectors and signs of many deities2 And at the time
of short mantra recitation, actua' eDperience and in the dram, he got the 7ision of many deitiesI
faces2 At the time of Aature +ractice, the attainment o&*ects -rakta and amrita/ &u&&'ed %ith
sounds, and sym&o's and sy''a&'es appeared2 Aany mar7e'ous signs appeared that the
=amantaka and the Eight Specia' Dharma +rotectors, through his fu'' rea'i(ation, %ere under his
po%er2 And he composed the empo%erment %ith consecration %ith @ire +u*a Ceremony2 And
four acti7ities %ith comp'etion on the =amantaka teachings2
1n the 1ron Sheep year, one night in a dream, at the 3o'den $emp'e in $hi' he got a teaching of
profound of many aspects of 3uru =oga practices from the +recious Lord of the Dharma -the
image of Lord Jigten Sumgn %hich %as made at the time of Jigten Sumgn himse'f and &'essed
&y him many times/2 And then he comp'eted the teDt adding some necessary topics2 3i7ing to
the discip'es %ho %ere the proper 7esse's2 E7en no% the continuity of this practice is there2
At Chere $aktse, he ga7e the empo%erment of 2G Root Aanda'a of )a*ra Rosary2 Aany pi''s
mu'tip'ied %hich %ere made from the empo%erment 7ase %ater2 $he %ater in the 7ase %as
&oi'ing 'ike hot %ater, and %hir'poo's %ere running o7er the surface of the %ater2 $hese
%ondrous signs %ere seen &y a'' the peop'e there2
8ne time, he %as doing a =amantaka sadhana at D(ongsar2 1n a dream appeared the =amantaka
in the center of that p'ace, dra%ing an image of Aan*ushri and said some praise %hich are in the
tantra teDt2
8ne night in a dream from the earth, a sun and a&o7e a moon -a sym&o' of non"dua'ity of
%isdom &'iss and emptiness/ disso'7ed into his &ody2
8ne time, he got the 7ision of =amantaka ma'e and fema'e %ith retinues2 Again one day, he got
a 7ision of huge, 7ery fearfu' =amantaka2 Due to that , other e7i' spirits %ho harm %ere tota''y
7an<uished2
8ne time a'so a po%erfu' and gracefu' ma'e =amantaka %as chanting 'oud'y2 Since then his
yidam 7ision %as so c'ear, and a'so any other yidam 7ision cou'd &e seen easi'y2
1n Earth Ra&&it year per7aded a great harmfu'ness of sma''poD in centra' $i&et2 E7en the
epidemic came to D(ongsar2 $o stop the epidemic for the &enefit of a'' sentient &eings, he did
sadhana of Loktripa'a2 1n a session, he got a 7ery c'ear 7ision on )irtuous Rishi .ima'a2 And
said to him that a'' peop'e %ou'd &e free of the sma''poD epidemic2 And a'so to'd a story that
once he %as the Dharma ,ing Ashoka2 And ad7ised to do the practice of mantra repetition of
>agaraksha2 As he %as ad7ised, he did the >agaraksha sadhana for one %eek in the rishi %ay2
So at that time, the string of his raksha rosary &ecame a fearfu' snake, and different signs of
mudra appeared to his &ody2 5e did 7ery strong auspicious prayer to stop a'' these harmfu'2 And
the 3reat >aga ,ing Seechen appeared direct'y and re<uested that if he %ou'd make a promise
of a'' peop'e -discip'ine/ that anyone not &ring a'coho' or meat at the >aga +a'ace of :ru

dream some monks -an emanation of o&stac'es/ tried to cha''enge him in using some curse
%ords2 1n the monastery of $se%a, %hat that happened %ith fear'essness he roared %ith a 'ion

8ne night in a dream, many armies came 'ed &y Lion"headed Aonk2 5e dispe''ed sickness from
Dasang $antra and a'' armies died &y 7omiting &'ood2 ?hen time from the sky fe'' thunder&o't
and hai'stone, he raise +hur&a in the sky2 and it %as a'' redirected and the thunder&o't fe'' on a
stupa on the peak of the mountain and %as tota''y destroyed2 $he harmfu' magic changed the
direction2
8ne night he had a dream riding a 7ery &eautifu' red horse and racing the sky2 and then he
rea'i(ed that this %as a dream, and the dream transferred into the i''usion2
1n the first month of the eight date night, in a dream he sa% the .uddha surrounded &y the kings
of human &eings and gods, and surrounded &y many discip'es and assem&'ies of monks2 1n the
assem&'y of the peop'e, the siD specia' teachers of the 5indu %ere matching mirac'e po%er2 And
.uddha defeated them2
5e got the 7ision of Aan*ushri, the peacefu' rishi, the %rathfu' rishi, Chakrasam7ara, and many
other yidam deities2 .oth actua' and eDperientia' in the c'ear 'ight "" the siD rea'ms, sho%ing the
7arious magic &y the Eight Specia' Deities, and many others2 @rom these a'', he rea'i(ed the
creati7ities of the mind2 5e appeared the signs " fa''ing moon on the ground and others that he
comp'eted the practice and repetition of the mantra2 5e sa% a 'ot of 7isions for the future and a''
of them came true2
8ne night in a dream, he %as in a Aahaka'a shrine %ith some other peop'e doing supp'ication
and praise for Aahaka'a and some other Dharma protectors2 5e sa% the .uddha radiating the
ma*or and minor signs2 5e cu'ti7ated the &odhicitta mind and aspiration2 Again, he sa% in a
dream +andita -a great scho'ar/ >agkyi Rinchen and got a 'ot of teaching on the Aahamudra2
5e sa% Atisha and he sho%ed him respect -to Dharmakirti/ and had a 'ot of discussion on the
teachings2
8ne time as >etan Dudan -one of the 1# discip'es of .uddha/, he %ent to Southern 1ndia2 $here
he sa% the 1# arhats in the summer retreat2
8ne time a %hite man offered him the .uddhaIs *a% %ith teeth2
$hese 'imit'ess, %ondrous 7isions came to him in the actua', in the eDperience, and in the c'ear
'ight2
1n the 1ron Dragon year, he in7ited 11B copyists from Ae, +henpo, >yemo, and other p'aces2 5e
%rote a'' the ,agyur -a'' of .uddhaIs ta'ks/ %ith >yingma gyu&um " 12B 7o'umes in that year2
5e himse'f did a'' the corrections2 5e performed the &'essing consecration2 5e satisfied those
copyists &y the gifts2
5e took teachings " the essence of u'timate Chi $ro -peacefu' and %rathfu'/, and the hidden
treasure of Dharmakaya, Sam&hogakaya, and >irmanakaya %hich re7ea'ed &y Jatson >yingpo
from him2 Dharmakirti a'so ga7e him many teachings2
1n the 1ron Snake year, 3adan +hodrang and the patron 3ushri captured the 3artsang and took
the $i&etan go7ernment, and had a 'ot of fighting2 And many Aongo'ian and $i&etan peop'e
came to Drigung2 Aany great men destroyed the Congsar $ak(ong2 Dharmakirti mo7ed to
$se%a country2 1n the 5orse and Sheep years, Centra' $i&et had a great frost and many peop'e
died &y hunger2 And poor peop'e eating the human &rain2 and some %omen eating the dog meat2
A great hunger %hich ne7er happened &efore2
1n Aonkey and .ird years, he protected the fro(en and a'' &eings 'i&erated from the hunger2
$hen as the prediction &y Ratna %hich asked &y A"tak ,unga, he had no fami'y descendants2
1n the ?ood .ird year, the #th month and the 1th day, he ga7e up the tantrika dress and &ecame
fu''y ordained monk -&hikshu/ from Lama .a'og Jyinpa +huntsog as a&&ot, and >ga%ang
+huntsog of Rakhyim as assistant2
8ne time %ithin the attendants had a 'ot of conf'ict in their hearts, and a 'ot of e7i' actions %ere
done2 A%o >aggu &y his gossip %as de'i&erate'y pro7oking the go7ernment2 And the
go7ernment asked Dharmakirti to Lhasa, put him in prison at +atro Shak, and interrogated him2
At that time, the earth %as shaking and his guide of Aongo'ians sa% a &'essing fire &urning from
his &ody2 And at night, many so'diers going around and many other mirac'e po%ers %ere sho%n2
$he th Da'ai Lama from Drepung asked to re'ease him from the prison, and %rote a 'etter that
they not harm him at a''2 And his reno%n spread2
$hen %ith representati7e of go7ernment, he %ent to see the $emp'e of Jo Rinpoche and $emp'e
of Cha, and the Aahaka'a $emp'e at Drigung $hi' Aonastery2 And he made commitment not to
spe'' the eDhortation un'ess great critica' circumstances happened to the teaching2
$hose %ho %rong 7ie% agitators not 'ong time, they ripen the karma in their 'ife2 5e %rote
commentary on the )inaya root teDt, and the SiD Dharmas of >aropa, and t%o different
commentaries on 3ong Chig root teDt, and three different commentary teDts on Chakrasam7ara,
and commentary on 5e7a*ra, and composed the $hree Rosary Chenre(ig teDt, and @our ,inds of
Co"emergent ?isdom, and Se7en Aanda'a of 5ighest )a*rayana, and $sorgu the purification
practice of the Lo%er rea'ms practice on Sar7a .it, and Eight ,agye -the eight different kinds of
deity practices/, and the practices of =ang Ca&, and the practice of =amantaka of =ang Dhogok
AeI+udri -comp'ete'y re7erse the ra(or of fire/, and Chakdig -the hea7iness of stee'/, and $rochu
-%ater of a''oy/, and many other ne% and ancient 'ineage teaching2 And he composed many teDts
a&out medicine, poetry, and many others2

empo%erments on the different deities to thousands of the peop'e and esta&'ished them on the
)a*rayana path2 1n those times, the rain&o% and rain of f'o%ers, sound of mantra, sme'' of
incense, and sounds of music a'' miracu'ous'y appeared and the peop'e there eDperienced it2
$hen he met the th Da'ai Lama at Chokhor 3ya'2 And the Da'ai Lama made him a high throne
and high'y respected him and took a 'ot of >yingma teachings -from Dharmakirti/2 $he t%o
great ministers of Da'ai Lama "" Lama 3ushri $en(in Chogya' of Aongo'ia and Sonam Ra&tan ""
did prostration and %ere high'y de7oted2 And he a'so met the Da'ai Lama another time and he
ga7e more detai'ed teaching on the Eight Deities and others2
8ne time he %as hea7i'y sick and ,onchog Rinchen ga7e him empo%erment on the ?hite $ara2
and at that time, he -Dharmakirti/ had a dream on Stone Sacha -sma'' stupa/, and Ra&tan Sangpo,
the physician of ,hampo and Layak, the physician of Dakpo, and many other doctors offered
him medicines and e7entua''y he got &etter2
$hen he started making the Airac'e 3reat Stupa of go'd and si'7er %ith 2B 7ery ski''fu'
craftsmen from $i&et and >epa'2 5e &ui't it and a'' comp'eted2 5imse'f and many other monks
&'essing consecration on the sadhana of =amantaka and Chakrasam7ara "" a'' the peop'e %ho did
that, he satisfied &y presenting gifts2
At that time ,onchog $inchen passed a%ay, so he comp'eted a'' the ceremonies of cremation and
others2
5e a'so in7ited >ga%ang $ashi +a'drup of $ak'ung ,agyu2 $hey met each other and took
teaching from each other2 Since then Drigung ,agyu and $ak'un &ecame 7ery c'ose2
8ne of his chief discip'es, Lso $rin'ay >amgya', came from ,ham -eastern $i&et/ made
immense amount of offerings and re<uested the empo%erment and meditation instruction of
Lama 3ongdu, and some other empo%erment2 Soon he %as sent &ack to ,ham2
8ne time he %as in the practice of @our"armed Aahaka'a repeating mantra meditation2 @irst the
e7i' omen of s%ord put into himse'f, &ut fina''y he accomp'ished a'' the positi7e signs and
eDperiences of the practice2
8ne time the th Da'ai Lama in7ited him to Drepung Aonastery2 As &efore he %as put in a 7ery
high seat2 And he ga7e teaching in a'' =amantaka instruction2 And the Da'ai LamaIs genera'
secretary Sonam Ra&tan high'y respected him and they offered him great offerings2 And he
made a detai'ed pi'grimage to Drepung, +ota'a, and Lhasa2
1n the @ire &ird year, he made a go'den paraso' %hich has the ?hee' of =amantaka Aantra
protection2 $he paraso' he on the Airac'e Stupa in Drigung $hi' and did the &'essing and
consecration2
Since he %as 7isiting different p'aces and not stopping at one p'ace, there %as not a sta&'e p'ace
to stay permanent'y2 So at that time he com&ined t%o encampments2 And then his attendants
impro7ed that and esta&'ished a monastery and stayed there2
$hen he started year'y ceremony of Aahaka'a $orchen, protection and re7ersa' on the =amantaka
practice2 $hen he recogni(ed the incarnate tu'ku ,onchog Rinchen %ithout mistake from
Longpo2 And &rought him to Drigung and ga7e the name ,onchog $rin'ay Sangpo2 And

Lhundrup did as the )a*racharya and his %ish"fu'fi''ing &ody %as cremated on the manda'a of
Chakrasam7ara2 At that time a'' the sky %as fi''ed %ith rain&o%s2 And there cascaded a rain of
the gar'and f'o%ers2 A coup'e of 7u'tures came do%n and circumam&u'ated the funera' fire2

inconcei7a&'e and mar7e'ous signs %ou'd appear2
