1.3 DirectX Installation
There is no need to reinstall DirectX if it is already in your system and its version is 8.1a or later. You ca
install DirectX 9.0C from the installation CD, please click-on DirectX.

Select I accept the agreement and click
Next on this message box.

Click Next to install DirectX.
Notice: After installing the DirectX, your computer will be restarted if you click the button Finish.

2. Honestech TVR
2.1 Introducing Honestech TVR
Thank you for choosing the honestech TVR.The honestech TVR is a software program
that captures full motion video from various video input sources and compresses them
into small high quality MPEG file. It can be used to produce your own video CD or for
other professional purposes. It takes television signals and records them onto your hard
drive. You have all the convenience of a VCR (recording, playback, fast forwarding,
rewinding, and pausing) without having to rewind any tape. Here are the requirements
and features of the program.

System Requirements
TVR will run on Microsoft Windows 2000, or Windows XP. A Pentium 3 or AMD
Althon 700 MHz processor is required. (Pentium 4 2.0 GHz is recommended
for recording DVD format file-720 x 480.)
A least 100 MB of hard disk space is required for installing the program. An
additional 500 MB of space will be needed working with files.
A True Color or Hi Color display card supporting DirectX 9.0, 16-bit high color
mode and with at least 1024 x 768 pixel resolution.
DirectX 9.0 or higher is installed.
An AC'97 compatible sound card.
Analog TV antenna.

2.2 Using Your Honestech TVR

This program has everything a personal video recorder needspreview, full screen view,
snapshot, channel selection, channel surfing, recording, programmed recording, time
shifting, settings, help, and a link to our website. Here are explanations of how to perform
the most common tasks.
Installing Honestech TVR
Before you begin, make sure that the antenna or Cable is connected to the TVR device.
Insert the TVR disc into your computer disc drive and follow the installation instructions.

Receiving a Program
To receive a program through your network, please connect the antenna to the TVR device
and make the proper settings.
1. Press to open the Property Settings box, and then click the TV Setting tab

TV category setting.
- Specify minimum or maximum channel range.
- Available channels will be displayed.
Country code specification.
- "Auto Detect" will automatically detect country code and specify the code in "Country
Code".
- If "Select your country" is selected, user needs to select correct country manually.
Specify minimum and maximum channel range available. Channel selection.
- Use number pad to enter channel numbers.
- Only numbers between minimum and maximum channel range will be accepted.
- Clicking "Enter" button will show TV program on the channel and enable "Add" button.
Add channel number entered.
Delete a channel number selected.
Perform auto scanning of available channels.
Display available channel.

Choosing a Program to Watch
After you have installed TVR and scanned for programs, you can select a program
from the list to watch. Click to switch between programs.
Click to add or delete channel in channel list.

Recording a Program
Select input source (TV, Composite, S-Video, and CATV) with SRC function.
When you want to record a TV program, select a channel button.
Press to start recording and press again to end. You can review your recorded file
using .

Scheduling Your Program Recording
You can add, modify, or delete items for recording shows in the future.
Press .Open Schedule Recording Setting box.

Add: To add your schedule entry.
Edit: Edit selected schedule item
Delete: selected item
Delete All: Added all items
OK and Cancel: End the schedule function

If Add button is selected, users can show follow dialog.

You can add the schedule items.

TimeShifting
Time-shift is similar to Instant TV Replay in regards to the instant replay capability, but
may only be used to video content.
Clicking to start TimeShifting function and buffering window will be
automatically shown. Click to stop Time Shifting function.
Clicking will move to start frame.
Clicking will move to end frame.
Clicking will pause to frame but Time Shifting function is still running.

Adjusting the Volume
Use the and to increase and decrease the volume. The indicator will
reflect the changes. Clicking will turn the sound on and off.
Audio mode switch
Clicking will switch audio mode between stereo and mono.
Taking Snapshots
if is selected, you can dump current frame in previewing window. captured image
file is show in the file pool.
Change Skin
If is selected, skin on the main panel is changed another colors

2.3 Menu and settings
Main Screen

The TVR screen is very compact and useful. Here is an overview of the various displays
and buttons.


Across the top of the presentation area will be listed the program status.
Recording Time, recording file size, and current time.


Input source part, you can select your input source here.


Channel select part, you can select program in channel list from here.


Recorder function part, you can control your recorded files from here.


Function part, use here to setting your TVR.

Video Folder, when you captured a frame or recorded a program, the File pool function
will be open.
You can edit, send to mail or view files in here. Click white delta to hide or open Video
folder.

FilePool function

Press the FilePool button to view the Recording List window, which has 3 additional
function buttons.

2.4 MPEG1 Video Editing Tool

1. Play button: play the selected areas.
2. Pause button: Pause the recording.
3. Stop button: Stop the recording.
4. Move pre frame.
5. Move next frame.
6. Set the start point of area.
7. Set the end point of area.
8. Delete the selected area.
9. Save the selected areas as a file.

Send Mail button

Attach the selected file to e-mail, and send the e-mail
Your e-mail program will be automatically executed so that you can check that the
selected file is attached

List View button

Change the type of viewing in FilePool window. Three types of viewing will be rotated
whenever you click.

1. Show preview and file name.


2. Show name only.


3. Show file name, file size and recording time.

When you right-click your TVR screen when a video is playing, you will see the
following menu. This will give you quick control over how you watch the program.

TV Setting

You can set up the scan parameters to more efficiently scan for available television
programs and channels.

You can adjust the brightness and the color in the picture. Select your sound device and
video device.

3. Remote Control
If you bought our Remote Control, youll now be able to control your new application
remotely. The package contains a Remote Controller and its Receiver cable. The
Receiver cable must be connected to the adapter for it to function properly. Please install
the Application PVRemote.

4.FAQWindows Aero with TVR
Windows Aero features in the following edition of Windows Vista
Windows Vista Business
Windows Vista Enterprise
Windows Vista Home Premium
Windows Vista Ultimate

This feature uses the same resource utilized by the applications that constructed of
overlay mixer, Like VTR itself. Aero glass will yield to the resource requesting by
TVR and temporarily change the desktop scheme to Basic edition. The desktop scheme
will be restored automatically when the TVR stopped to service.

Here is the example

1.When user launches TVR application:
Widows will pop out a message to
inform user the desktop scheme will be
change to Basic (ref. Fig. 1). Please be
noted there is no error or warning issued
by system.
2. If user clicks on the message for more
information, the system will bring up a
message box to detail the change of the
color scheme. It simply states the
change and tells user the color scheme
will be changed back automatically.
