STATEMENTOFPROBABLECAUSE

Complainant, a licensed peace officer with the Minneapolis Police Department, has investigated the facts
and circumstances of this offense and believes the following establishes probable cause:

On October 18, 2014, Minneapolis Police Officers were dispatched to the area of 5th Street and Hennepin
Avenue in Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota, regarding a motor vehicle striking a pedestrian.
Upon arrival, the Victim, M.H., was already in an ambulance being transported to the hospital. Metro
Transit Officers had already detained the driver of the vehicle, VANESSA IDA UZONG, the defendant
herein.

Officers learned that the defendant was driving a Dodge Magnum that struck M.H. as M.H. was walking on
foot. The defendants vehicle dragged M.H. until it crashed into another vehicle.

Officers spoke to numerous witnesses. T.B. reported that he had intervened in an earlier altercation
between the defendant and M.H. and their corresponding groups of friends. T.B. reported that the two
groups separated and the defendant got into her vehicle and started driving through the parking lot.
According to T.B., the defendant swerved and intentionally struck M.H. with the vehicle. T.B. reported that
he saw the defendant exit the drivers seat of the vehicle and he positively identified the defendant as the
driver.

L.M., who was with M.H., reported that after the altercation, they were walking away. L.M. stated that she
and M.H. moved to their left in order to allow the defendant to drive past. According to L.M., the defendant
swerved and struck M.H. who was not able to get out of the way. L.M. reported that the defendants vehicle
then accelerated before hitting another vehicle. L.M. identified the defendant as the person she saw exit
the drivers seat.

S.J.H., who was a passenger in the defendants vehicle at the time, identified the defendant as the driver.

M.H. continues to be hospitalized in critical condition. M.H. suffered a punctured lung, a lacerated liver, a
shattered pelvis, a broken femur, a fractured ankle and ribs. M.H. remains intubated.

The defendant is currently in custody.
