Artifact Description: This artifact is my classroom management plan to help give myself a better idea so when I have my own classroom I can adopt and adjust this plan as needed to fit the needs of my classroom. Most of these procedures I have adopted from teachers that I had worked with and adjusted them to fit my needs, and will adjust accordingly to the needs of my students. Wisconsin Teacher Licensure Standard Alignment: This experience best aligns with Wisconsin Teacher Standard 5 Learning Environment The teacher uses an understanding of individual and group motivation and behavior to create a learning environment that encourages positive social interaction, active engagement in learning and self- motivation. My experience aligns with standard five because I understand the principles of effective classroom management and can use a range if strategies to promote positive relationships, cooperation, and purposeful learning in the classroom. I want to create a smooth and functioning learning community for my students. I want them to be able to assume responsibility for themselves and one another in which the students will by contributing to the classroom constitution. As a result of this experience, I have learned the importance of developing shared values and expectations for student interactions, academic discussions, and individual and group responsibility that create a positive classroom climate of openness, mutual respect, support, and inquiry. UW-Platteville Knowledge, Skill, and Disposition Statement Alignment: This experience best aligns with KSD2.c. The candidate values and has the ability to manage self-motivated students and instructional groups who are productively and independently working at all times with classroom transitions and routines occurring smoothly. The teacher, volunteers, paraprofessionals and students share the responsibility for the classroom environment. Yes, my management plan is broad, but it will help my students and I brainstorm when we come up with our classroom constitution. For every year, my classroom will not be the same. I need to analyze the classroom environment and make decisions and adjustments to enhance social relationships, student motivation and engagement, and productive work. As a result of this experience, I realize how important it is to have a plan, even a broad plan because its not specific enough to where I can adjust it when necessary for each individual class that I will have. Plus, having a plan is better than no plan. This will help me create my classroom rules with my class when I become a teacher and have my own classroom.
Secondary Alignment: KSD2.a. Creates an Environment and Respect and Rapport KSD2.b. Establishes a Culture for Learning KSD2.d. Manages Student Behavior Personal Reflection: What I learned about teaching and learning I learned the significance of having a plan for most common situations that could or will happen in my classroom. By having a plan, it will make situations in my classroom run smoother than if I didnt have a plan or idea of how to handle the situations. Thus, we, as a class, can focus more on learning. What I learned about myself as a prospective educator I learned that the significance of a classroom management plan is just as important as having a lesson plan. There are goals set for both of them, and they set a path to where I want my classroom to go. I can adjust both of them accordingly to the specific needs of my classroom.
