WELCOME TO GRACE COVENANT!

Thank you for joining us today! We are an historic Presbyterian

congregation offering traditional worship and multiple ministries
for persons of all ages. Please join us following worship
for fellowship in the Social Room. Thank you for turning off
your cell phones, pagers, cameras, and other electronic devices
for the duration of morning worship.

Preparation for Worship

“Jesus expected the men He was with to obey Him. They were not
required to be smart, but they had to be loyal. This became the
distinguishing mark by which they were known. They were called
His “disciples” meaning that they were “learners” or “pupils” of
the Master. It was not until much later that they started being
called “Christians” (Acts 11:26), although it was inevitable, for in
time obedient followers invariably take on the character of their
leader.“

GATHER TO GLORIFY GOD

PRELUDE Toccata in D Minor, BWV 538 (“Dorian”) Johann Sebastian Bach
(1685-1750)

†CALL TO WORSHIP Psalm 27 and John 4:23

Pastor: Let us worship God, our light and our salvation.

People: The Lord is the stronghold of our lives.
Pastor: We desire to live in God’s house
and to seek God in his holy temple.
People: We have come with shouts of joy,
to sing and to make music to the Lord.
Pastor: Let us worship God in spirit and in truth.
People: Teach us your ways and make straight our paths
in this hour of worship and always.

†Please stand for these parts of the service.

†HYMN 476 (blue) O Worship the King, All Glorious Above Lyons

†PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Merciful God,
you made us in your image,
with a mind to know you,
a heart to love you,
and a will to serve you.
But our knowledge is imperfect,
our love inconstant,
our obedience incomplete.
Day by day, we fail to grow into your likeness.
In your tender love, forgive us
through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
