helen is an attractive girl sixteen years old ,who
like to dance, go camping and swim. two years
ago she was damaged in an automobile accident.
She was in the hospital for several months, but as
a result of her own courage and the work of skilful
and dedicated doctors she can now take part in
most of the activities that girls of her age enjoy.

After the accident it was discovered that both of
her kidneys were damaged. The kidneys are one
of the organs of the body essential to life for they
carry away waste material from the blood.
Everyone has two kidneys, although one is really
necessary. But Helen was unlucky and lost both of
them.

Helens doctors considered that kidney transplant
was necessary but they needed a volunteer to
give her one of the kidneys. The volunteer tissue
should be very similar to Helens. The donor must
be healthy himself, strong and young.





Helen had an older brother, jim, whose tissue type was
similar to her own . The doctors spoke to him and
explained the operation they wanted to perform. He
agreed and the operation was completed without any
unusual problems

Helen. El donante debe ser sano a s mismo,
fuerte y joven.


Helen tena un hermano mayor, jim, cuyo tipo
de tejido fue similar a la suya. Los mdicos le
hablaron y explicaron la operacin que queran
realizar. l estuvo de acuerdo y la operacin se
complet sin problemas inusuales

There were no future problems after the
operation. Four months later, her new kidney was
working well. The doctors felt the transplant had
been a complete success.

Since the first successful kidney transplant in 1954,
thousands of these operations have taken place in
the world. To see Helens smile or see her walking
along the city is to come face to face with a medical
miracle.


No hubo problemas en el futuro despus de la
operacin. Cuatro meses ms tarde, su nuevo rin
estaba funcionando bien. Los mdicos consideraron el

1970s though Lennon was born on October
9,1940, in liverpool, england. During his
Childhood he listened to the music of rock

Lewis and Little Richard. at 15, when he was at
art school, Lennon started his first band, The -
Quarrymen. The band included Paul
McCartney, George Harrison and peter Best, a
drummer. The Quarrymen later changed their
name to the silver Beatles. Ringo star replaced
pete Best as drummer.
