Labaw Dongon is the eldest son of three sons of diwata Anggoy Alunsina and a mortal man, Buyung Paubari,

the other two being Humadapnon and Dumalapdap. Being of semi-divine birth, the three brothers possess
extraordinary powers. When he reached adulthood shortly after his birth, he decided to go on a quest to find
himself a wife.
He heard of the beauty of Angoy Ginbitinan of Handog and wanted her for a wife. Inang Alunsina, prepare my
things which I will need for my journeya magic cape, hat, belt, and a kampilan (a large, two-handed sword).
The journey to Handug took several days. Labaw Donggon had to pass by plains, valleys and mountains to get
there. When he finally arrived, he asked for an audience with Angoy Ginbitinan's father and asked for her hand
in marriage. The father agreed in one condition and he said You must kill the monster Manalintad as part of
your dowry. Labaw Donggon agreed and went away to confront the monster. With the help of his magic belt,
he was able to kill the Manalintad. He cut off the tail of the monster and brought it back to Handug as a proof of
his victory. Angoy Gibintinan's father was satisfied with the proof and allowed Labaw Donggon to marry his
daughter. He also showered Anggoy Matang-ayon, the mother of Abyang Ginbitinan with precious gifts so she
would let him marry Abyang. They invited the whole town to their wedding.
After the wedding, Labaw Donggon and his new bride started their journey back to his home. Along the way,
they met a group of young men who were on their way to Tarambang Burok to win the hand of Abyang
Durunuun, sister of Sumpoy, the lord of the underworld. According to these young men, Abyang Durunuun has
beauty that equals no other. Labaw Donggon and Angoy Gibintinan continued on their journey. Upon reaching
home, Labaw Donggon asked his mother to take care of his new wife and told her that he will be going on
another quest. This time he will be going to Tarambang Burok and vie for the hand of the beautiful Abyang
Durunuun.
On his way to Tarambang Burok, Labaw Donggon had an encounter with the giant Sikay Padalogdog. This
giant had a hundred arms and he won't let the young demi god pass without a fight. And fight they did. In the
end, the hundred-armed giant admitted defeat and allowed the Labaw Donggon to pass the ridge. Labaw
Donggon won the hand of the legendary Abyang Durunuun and also took her home to his mother.
Thereafter, the demigod went on third quest to Gadlum. This time the object of his desire is Malitong Yawa
Sinagmaling Diwata, the young bride of the Lord of Darkness, Saragnayan. Aboard his biday nga inagta (black
boat), Labaw Donggon sailed across many seas on his way Gadlum. He also traveled across the region of the
clouds and the Land of Stones before he found himself at the shores of Tulogmatian, the seaside fortress of
Saragnayan, the Lord of Darkness. Upon setting foot on the shore, Saragnayan asked May I demand the name
who trespassed my realm? And what are you doing here? I am Labaw Donggon from Handog and I am here
to express my desire to have Malitong Yawa Sinagmaling Diwata as my wife The Lord of Darkness just
laughed and told him It is impossible! You can have Malitung Yawa if I do not have life anymore. Im ready
to fight you Donggon answered Saragnayan.
They had a duel that lasted for 7 years. Labaw Donggon held Saragnayan's head underwater but Saragnayan still
lived. With the help of his pamlang (amulet), Saragnayan defeated Labaw Donggon and imprisoned him
beneath his house.
Meanwhile, Labaw Donggon's two wives gave birth to a son each. Angoy Ginbitinan called her child Aso
Mangga, while Abyang Durunuun called her son Abyang Baranugon, though his umbilical cord is still uncut.
Both sons met and went in search of their father a few days after they were born. With the help of Buyung
Baranugun's crystal ball, they learned that Labaw was taken prisoner of Saragnayan. The two brothers
successfully freed their father who was so old and his body was entirely covered with long hair. Upon hearing
what happened to their father, they shouted for a challenge to Saragnayan ten times. In his fear, Saragnayan
summons help from all parts of the universe but were all defeated by the two with their poisoned arrows.
When they cannot kill Saragnayan, Baranugan send Taghuy and Duwindi to Abyang Alunsina to ask her of the
secret of Saragnayan's power. Baranugun learned from Abyang that Saragnayan's breath was being kept and
taken care of by a wild boar in the mountain. He and Asu Mangga went to the mountain and murdered the boar.
They ate the heart of the animal that was the life of Saragnayan.
Saragnayan suddenly felt weak. He knew what had happened. He bade goodbye to Nagmalitong Yawa. He
was now ready to confront the two sons of Labaw. Baranugan and Mangga asked Saragnayan to free their
father. But, Saragnayan told Abyang Baranugon to go home to his mother when he noticed that the young lad
still has an umbilical cord. The young lad took offense and challenged the lord of the darkness to a duel.
Saragnayan accepted the challenge and fought with Abyang Baranugon. The Lord of Darkness was no match
for the strength of Abyang Baranugon and was defeated in the process.
After the fight, Baranugan and Asu Mangga returned for their father to their boat but he was nowhere to be
seen. They found him crowded inside a net of Saragnayans brothers. Donggon was afraid of them. Baranugan
killed them all and freed Labaw from the net.
When Abyang Ginbitinan and Anggoy Doronoon saw Labaw, they wept in sorrow. They found out that Labaw
could no longer hear and use his mental faculties. They bathe him, cloth him and fed him. They took care of
him. Meanwhile, Buyung Humadapnon and Buyung Dumalapdap, brothers-in-law of Anggoy Ginbitinan
married Burigadang Pada Sinaklang Bulawan and Lubaylubyok Hanginon Mahuyukhuyukon respectively. The
two women were the beautiful sisters of Nagmalitong Yawa. When Labaw Donggon learned of the marriage, he
told his two wives that he wanted to marry Nagmalitong Yawa Sinagmaling Diwata. The first two wives
momentarily feel jealous but upon the latters assurance that Donggon will love all three of them equally.
Donggon also desires to have another baby boy. Abyang Gingibitan and Anggoy Doronoon were shocked to
hear his request but because they loved Labaw so much, they gave in to his wish. Labaw laid down on the floor
and the two women jumped over him, bringing back his strength and sharpness of mind. Labaw cried out in joy
and his voice reverberated over the land.
