In addition to the L6e*aultL setting, Portraiture pro)ides ten prede*ined setting
presets *ine-tuned *or )arious e**ects# 5or eCample, *or speci*$ing s+in smoothing
le)el, $ou "ould use the respecti)e presets such as E.moothing ;ormalF,
E.moothing 7ediumF or E.moothing >ighF#
Portraiture also pro)ides additional special e**ect presets such as EGlamourF,
E8nhance -onesF, E>igh 3e$F and E'o" 3e$F# -hese out-o*-boC presets can ser)e as a
starting point *or arri)ing at the desired results - $ou can *urther *ine-tune the
settings b$ operating the corresponding sliders# Generall$ on start-up Portraiture "ill
de*ault to the last used *ilter settings#

Portraiture *ilter control sets pro)ide a "ide range o* *ine-tuning depending on the
speci*ic image re1uirements# In addition to the de*ault and other presets that come
prede*ined "ith Portraiture, $ou can adDust an$ o* the controls to *ine-tune $our
custom *ilter con*iguration *or the desired results# -he controls are grouped into
three *unctional sets M E6etail .moothingF, E.+in -ones 7as+F and E8nhancementsF
controls - to enable intuiti)e and e**ecti)e processing# 8ach set is eCplained in more
detail in the *ollo"ing sections#

Portraiture smooths and so*tens an image b$ remo)ing arti*acts "hile preser)ing
s+in teCture and other important image details such as hair, e$ebro"s, e$elashes etc#
-o achie)e the desired result, $ou can adDust the smoothing degree *or di**erent
detail si=es M *ine, medium and large# (lso, the details to be smoothened are
determined b$ the threshold )alue the higher the threshold )alue, the higher
degree o* image details that "ill be smoothened#
6epending on the EPortrait .i=eF Portraiture adDusts the smoothening parameters to
achie)e the most )isuall$ compelling result# Portrait si=e can be automaticall$
detected based on the image dimensions M roughl$ .mall *or less than &7PiCels,
7edium *or bet"een &7PiCels and 407PiCels, and 'arge *or o)er 407PiCelsT or,
alternati)el$, $ou can manuall$ select the portrait si=e#

ensuring against unnecessar$ smoothening o* other parts o* the image#
Auto-Mask
<hat ma+es PortraitureGs mas+ing tool trul$ uni1ue is its built-in (uto-7as+ *eature#
It is a ni*t$ s+in tone detection algorithm that emplo$s sophisticated color and tonal
anal$sis and intelligence to recogni=e the s+in tone range o* the image automaticall$
and, accordingl$, to create an optimal s+in tones mas+ *or a particular image#

Manual Mask
5or manual mas+ de*inition and *ine-tuning, Portraiture pro)ides t"o Color Pic+er
tools, a .ingle Color pic+er and a 7ultiple Color Pic+er *or de*ining the 7as+'s tone
and color range based on the s+in tones o* the image as represented b$ the pic+ed
piCel# <hen using either o* these tools, $ou can )ie" the pic+ed piCel parameters
displa$ed on the right-hand side o* the plug-in "indo" indicating "hether the
pic+ed tone is "ithin the .+in -one range#
<hen the .ingle Color Pic+er is used the mas+ range is determined b$ the single
piCel# <hen the 7ultiple Color Pic+er is used each, subse1uent pic+ed tone )alues
are combined "ith the current mas+ to produce a ne" tone range#
-he resulting mas+ range is sho"n in the .+in -one 0ange monitor on the le*t-hand
side o* the plug-in "indo"# ?ou can operate the respecti)e controls on the monitor
itsel* or the sliders underneath it in order to set the >ue, .aturation and 'uminance
o* the desired .+in -one 0ange# -he 'atitude )alue determines the "idth o* the mas+
range around the adDusted and!or pic+ed tone# In other "ords the latitude )alue
determines the sensiti)it$ o* the mas+ )is-a-)is pic+ed s+in color )alue#

In addition to creating custom multiple pre)ie"s, Portraiture pro)ides an automated
brac+eting *eature *or 1uic+l$ generating a preset series o* pre)ie"s *or )arious *ilter
settings# 5or each original setting, the brac+eting creates the selected number o*
pre)ie"s "ith the speci*ied brac+eting inter)al#
-o brac+et or to set up a brac+eting preset, clic+ on the button neCt to the LPre)ie"L
and select the LParameter 9rac+eting###L item# ?ou can choose to replace alread$
open pre)ie"s or add the ne" pre)ie"s to the eCisting tabs#
Once the preset is created, it "ill appear in the same menu selection# <hen using
brac+eting, $ou can )ie" the name o* the respecti)e brac+eting parameter and its
absolute )alue on the pre)ie" tabs# ( tab "ill also re*lect custom changes made to
the brac+eting parameters )alues *or a gi)en pre)ie"# In addition, the mouse roll-
