MESSAGE FROM MRS. KENNAUGH

It is hard to believe that we are halfway through our first
trimester of this school year! As such, it is time to start
scheduling parent-teacher conferences. Our online
scheduling was such a success that we are continuing that
procedure. There is a letter in todays Friday folder with
step-by-step instructions on how to sign up, and the
system is ready for you to schedule your conference(s) at
your convenience!

If your child is in fourth, fifth, or sixth grade, please be
sure to regularly go to PowerSchool to check on
grades. Youll be able to see whether your child is
missing any assignments and can then help hold them
accountable for turning in their work. I recommend sitting
with your child to look at his/her grades or having your
child schedule a time to look at his/her own grades on
their own; research shows that students who track
their own progress in an area are more likely to
succeed.

Traditionally in October, our 3
rd
through 6
th
graders
spend time taking the MEAP. The testing has been
moved to the spring this year and will be
administered online. Each grade level has a three-
week testing window, with some grades
overlapping. The full testing window is from mid-
April until the end of May. Youll hear more about
the assessment as that testing window approaches.

As always, if you have any questions or would like
to discuss any concerns, please contact me.

BEAGLE SPIRIT WEAR 2014
