FATEHBAD STATION

In Chittagong University he worked with such a form which was repeated in a staggered
progression to echo the mountains and the contour the site was on. Every oor had an open
terrace on one side and the mountains on the other. The buildings were gradually sliding on
columns towards the mountain creating a beautiful graphic and a visual system. Hence it
displayed a skillful juxtaposition of the aesthetic and perception of the structure in
consistency with the environment. His private indoor spaces always linked with the outdoor
landscape through a secondary space in between them. This semi enclosed space was not
only necessary for linking the outdoor with the indoor but was also an ideal solution for the
protection from sun and rain that a warm humid monsoon climate plead for.The robust
exposed brick walls with similar rectangular openings and staggered form provide the
buildings a sense of order and primordial power.

SECTION OF AUDITORIUM
Muzharul Islams analysis of the site was a unique understanding of the
earthen and sandy soil hills of Bangladesh. This kind of terrain made buildings
on the top or the slope of the hills almost impossible or if possible at formidable
cost. The harsh monsoon and heavy rainfall in that area demanded that the
natural water courses low lands and water bodies strictly maintained to avoid
any disruption of the ecological system.
Muzharul Islam studied these apparent restraints carefully. And then from
them derived an ingenious way of placing buildings and connecting them. The
buildings were all placed in the valleys or at the foot of the hills. This would set
the building against a wonderful set back of the hills themselves avoiding the
complexity and the ecological disturbance that would have taken place if the
building were set on the slops or the top of the hills. As one enters the buildings
one is situated in a close dialogue with the rising slops of the hills behind. This
magical space between the building and the slop of the hills that is created by
the close proximity of the slops and the buildings is truly his creation and gift to
the inhabitants of the campus.
Muzharul Islam was able to take the complex the site and decipher its hidden
code into a profound simple geometry. Muzharul Islam again chooses brick as
the main material because of our rich heritage of brick architecture and also
its color and texture would play beautifully with the lash green setting. He also
assumed that it would be a more maintenance free nish rather than plaster
and paint. All the buildings in the campus are designed in a clear modern
language, compositions of planes, solids and voids in sculptural geometric
order.

PROPOSED INSTITUTE DESIGN
ARI

IWFM

The main objectives of the Institute are to carry out scientific research and investigation to ascertain the causes of
accidents on roads, railways and waterways in Bangladesh. The institute has also given the mandated function to
create awareness for safety issues at different stages of community across the country and share acquired
knowledge with the professionals at different levels to ensure safer transportation system.
he Institute of Flood Control and Drainage Research was established in 1974 and later renamed as the Institute of
Water and Flood Management (IWFM) in 2002. The Institute pursues research and capacity development in the field
of water and flood management that is vital for economic development and social prosperity of the country.

IAT

Institute of Appropriate Technology (IAT) is one of the oldest institutes of Bangladesh University of Engineering and
Technology. This institution was established to support development of national indigenous capability in selection,
generation and dissemination of technologies appropriate to the national development objectives of Bangladesh.

IICT

The purpose of the Institute is to provide a platform for teaching, learning and research in information and
communication technology (ICT) that will contribute to industrial and infrastructural development, economic growth
and social prosperity.

The BUET-Japan Institute of Disaster Prevention and Urban Safety (BUET-JIDPUS) is a newly established
institution
of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). The university syndicate gave formal
-JIDPUS
approval to this institute on July 1, 2011. BUET-JIDPUS was established to fulfill the urgent need for active research
and education support in the field of disaster prevention and urban safety in Bangladesh.

Poor Road Condition

Highway
Joydebpur - Tangail

Less Wide Road

- away from the city & crowd

- there are 2 institute around the site already
- openness
- fresh environment & less pollution

- the bazar is much distant from the site

- hospital facility is much distant from the site
- less road width
- scope of increasing the road width is low

- when the institute will be established the area

will be more developed
- the bazar will be developed
- the road will be improved

- after developing the area the load on the road

will be increased but the scope of increasing the
road width is low
- the developing residential area will be on the
back of the institute. that will create the
accessibility will be hampered.
