In accordance with the National Policy of Education (1986) Government of India started Jawahar
Navodaya idyalayas (JNs)! Presently the JNs are s"read in #$ %tates and $ &nion 'erritories! 'hese
are co(educational residential schools fully financed and administered )y Government of India throu*h an
autonomous or*ani+ation, Navodaya idyalaya %amiti! -dmissions in JNs are made throu*h the
JAWAHAR NAVODAYA VIDYALAYA SELECTION TEST $JNVST% at .lass I! 'he medium of
instruction in JNs is the mother ton*ue or re*ional lan*ua*e u" to .lass III and En*lish thereafter for
/aths and %cience and 0indi for %ocial %cience! %tudents of the JNs a""ear for 1 and 1II class
e2aminations of the .entral 3oard of %econdary Education! 4hile education in the schools is free
includin* )oardin*, lod*in*, uniforms and te2t)oo5s, a nominal fee of 6s!#778( "er month will have to )e
"aid )y the children from I1 to 1II class! 0owever, children )elon*in* to %.8%', Girls and Physically
0andica""ed and from the families whose income is )elow "overty line are e2em"ted from "ayment of
fees!

-. SELECTION AND ADMISSION
>!a) %election in the test will not vest any ri*ht on the candidates to secure admission into the JN! -t
the time of see5in* actual admission, each selected candidate will have to "roduce all relevant
certificates, as "rescri)ed )y the Navodaya idyalaya %amiti! &ntil admission, the selection is
"rovisional!
>!)) In case of any dis"ute, the decision of Navodaya idyalaya %amiti shall )e final and )indin* on
the candidates!

>!d) 'here is no "rovision for re(evaluation of the answer scri"ts! %ince the result is "rocessed throu*h

result, no re9uest for re(totalin* of mar5s will )e entertained!
>!e) It may also )e noted )y the candidates and their "arents8*uardians that under the scheme of JNs,
students of a JN located in 0indi s"ea5in* %tate may have to )e mi*rated to another JN in
Non(0indi %"ea5in* %tate and vice(versa for one academic year when the students are "romoted
to .lass I1! In case of refusal from the students selected for mi*ration, continuation of such
students in JN will not )e allowed!

o"ened are eli*i)le to a""ly for admission! 0owever, the district where JN is o"ened and is
)ifurcated at a later date, the old )oundaries of the district are considered for the "ur"ose of
eli*i)ility for admission into JN%', in case a new idyalaya has not started in newly )ifurcated
district as yet!
C!)) - candidate see5in* admission must not have )een &orn &(*or( 01-05-2002 .n .*t(r -0-0=-
2006. 'his will a""ly to candidates of all cate*ories, includin* those who )elon* to the %cheduled

Government or )y any other a*ency authori+ed on )ehalf of Government! %chools where students
have o)tained G3H certificate under National Institute of <"en %choolin* should have

for the test! In case test )oo5let of correct lan*ua*e o"ted for is not
"rovided, the candidate should *et it chan*ed )efore start of the e2amination! It is the
res"onsi)ility of the candidate to o)tain the test )oo5let of his choice as o"ted in the a""lication
form! No re"resentation in this re*ard will )e entertained after the e2amination is over!
c) -)out one minute may )e needed to answer each 9uestion! 'herefore, the candidate should not
