Become a Master of Negotiations

Negotiation is an art which should be mastered by professionals in all fields. Good

negotiation skills are required to be successful in your career. The following tips can be
followed to become a pioneer of negotiation.
Know the necessity
Accept the fact that negotiation in essential to the situation and there is no way out of it.
But that doesnt mean that you should listen to all the needs and requirements of the other
person. Learn the basics of negotiation and moe forward in a manner that is beneficial to
both parties.
Negotiate the value
The worth of an item is what the customer is willing to pay for it. !eople usually ask for
more than what they are supposed to get. There is no reason to accept a gien price if you
do not want to pay for it. Try to negotiate the prices to a lower leel that you think the
item is worthy of.
Know your worth
"f you are a person who is trying to sell a product or a serice# then you should know your
worth and negotiate according to it. "f your serices are good# aluable# and beneficial the
other party will come to your terms automatically.
Know the details
"t is important to know the name of the person while inoling in business negotiations.
Also# try to hae as much information as possible about the product in question. This will
help you to make alid points during the course of negotiation# which the other party
wont be able to say no to. This will also help to create a co$operatie discussion rather
than an argument. %ont forget to ask about the alternatie options in front of you.
Be calm
&en if you are on the winning side# do not get e'cited and throw off eerything at the
end. "t is possible for you to panic and become nerous if you see that you are nearing the
goal. "f the other party senses your nerousness# then he may try to turn things around.
Decide the break-even point
%ecide on your break$een point. This can either be the cheapest price that you will
accept in a deal or a worst case scenario that you can face. Not knowing the B&! can
cause you to accept deals that are not beneficial to you.
Be confident
Being confident is also essential to be a good negotiator. (ou need to know that the
person on the other side is )ust another indiidual like you who wants to get the deal
done.
Say no
%uring negotiations# always hae the power to say no and walk away# in case you are not
happy with the dealings. (ou need not get inoled in a sale which wont benefit you in
any way.
Be patient
*hile negotiating# neer try to rush up things. +ae the patience to negotiate the matter
in a calm and composed way. %o not get tired because the negotiation is going on for
long. "f you are impatient then you will gie up easily.
