I NTRODUCTI ON : Terrorism refers to political violence that targets civilians deliberately and indiscriminately. International terrorism involves the citizens or territory of more than one country. Terrorist groups seek to change a political context or condition that they do not like by force or threat of force. Civilian targets are usually chosen to terrorise the public and to use the unhappiness of the public as a weapon against national governments or other parties in conflict. I n I ndia terrorists attacks started in the north-east in 1960s where militants resorted to kidnapping, bomb blasting and killing security forces and civilians. Then it spread to Punjab in 1980s. Our former Prime Minister Mrs. I ndira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi became its victim. Kashmir valley was the next target in 1989 where lakhs of Kashmiri Pandits had to flee from the valley due to rampant killing, rape and other atrocities on them and became a refugee in their own country. Till today no steps have been taken for their safe passage and resettlement in the valley. From Bombay Blasts of 1993 Parliament Attack, Akshardham Temple, Varanasi, J aipur, Ahmedabad to Mumbai Attacks of 26/11/2008 to name a few, I ndia is continuously bleeding due to terror attacks. Thousands of innocent people and security forces lost their lives.

SUMMARY : We have to strengthen our internal security and intelligence to prevent any further terrorist attacks. All efforts should be made to catch the terrorists and they must be given tough punishment without considering any factors like vote-bank politics or pressure from foreign countries. Lastly we all must strive to create an environment where all our citizens are able to move and carry on their business without any scare of terror in their mind. All the children can smile and play without any fear.
