AcuityIknowallofyouareawarethatyourchildrenhavebeentakingtheAcuityassessmentsingrades
36.Somehaveaskedaboutreportsbeingsenthomesothatparentscanseetheirchildsperformance.
NorthSpencerhasdecidednottosendhomethesereportsatthistimeforseveralreasons.First,the
Acuityassessmentshavechangedasaresultofthestandardschanging.Ourteachersareteachingnew
standardsthisyearandwehavenotyetfullyalignedourcurriculumtothem.Thismeansthatourstudents
weretestedonconceptsthattheyhavenotyetbeentaught,thusmakingthedataacquiredskewedin
severalareas.Second,Acuityisnolongerpredictiveinnature.TheISTEP+testthatweareall
accustomedtowillalsobechangingthisyear.Infact,itisntevensupposedtobecalledISTEP+
anymore!TheIndianaCollege&CareerReadyAssessmenthasnotyetbeenfinalizedandwearestill
learningaboutwhatitisgoingtolooklikeforourstudents.Wewillsharemoreaswelearnmore.Our
teachersareworkingextremelyhardtomakethenecessarychangesinthecurriculumsothatour
studentswillbereadyforthismorerigorousassessment.Asalways,ifyouhavequestionsabouthow
