F. Pruebas de Superficies Pasadas por Alto
El GERENTE DE CONSTRUCCIN debe
realizar pruebas para determinar la
continuidad de todas las superficies ferrosas
recubiertas dentro del depsito de acero,
otras superficies que estarn sumergidas en
el agua u otros lquidos, superficies cerradas
en un espacio de vapor en dichas
estructuras, y superficies recubiertas con
cualquiera de los sistemas de recubrimiento
para superficies sumergidas y de servicio
severo. Los espacios que contengan
discontinuidades deben ser marcados y
reparados o recubiertos de acuerdo con las
instrucciones impresas del Fabricante del
recubrimiento, y en seguida probadas
nuevamente:
1. Los recubrimientos con espesores
mayores que 20 mil DFT total: Detector
de superficies pasadas por alto tipo
pulso, como el Tinker Rasor Model
AP-W, D.E. Stearns Co. Se debe usar
el Modelo 14/20, o igual. La unidad
debe ajustarse para operar al voltaje
requerido para crear una chispa de
entrehierro igual al doble del espesor
requerido del recubrimiento.
2. Recubrimientos con espesores de 20
mils o menos DTF total: Tinker
Rasor Model M1, K-D Bird Dog, o
igual. La unidad debe operar a menos
de 75 voltios. Para espesores de entre
10 y 20 mils, se debe aadir un agente
MWH-4/15/13 PAGE 09800-38

PROTECTIVE COATING
MWH-15/4/13 PGINA 09800-38
10500117 PTAR ENLOZADA
RECUBRIMIENTO PROTECTOR
humectante no espumante, como
Kodak Photo-Flo o igual, al agua antes
de mojar la esponja detectora.
G. Pruebas de Espesor de la Pelcula: En
metales ferrosos, el espesor del
recubrimiento de pelcula seca se debe medir
de acuerdo con la Especificacin SSPC de
Aplicacin de Pintura No. 2 utilizando un
medidor de espesor de pelcula seca tipo
magntico, como el Mikrotest Model FM,
El cometer Model 111/1EZ, o igual. Cada
mano de recubrimiento se debe probar para
determinar el espesor correcto. No se deben
tomar medidas hasta por lo menos ocho (8)
horas despus de la aplicacin del
recubrimiento. El espesor del recubrimiento
sobre los metales no ferrosos y otros
substratos debe medirse en el momento de la
aplicacin, utilizando un medidor de pelcula
hmeda.
H. Preparaci n de Superficie: La evaluacin
de la preparacin de superficies mediante
limpieza por chorro abrasivo se debe basar
en la comparacin de las superficies
limpiadas por chorro abrasivo con las
muestras estndar disponibles de NACE,
usando los estndares NACE TM-01-70 y
TM-01-75.
