HARDWARE
In this section we cover the basics of adding Toolbox* hardware to your
design. With Toolbox, you can add standard hardware such as bolts
and screws, nuts, pins and washers. Also, you will learn how to change
the orthographic view of your hardware as well as how to modify the
hardware that you already included in your design.

Use the Toolbox Standards dialog box to activate a standard for the current drawing and to create,
edit, import, and export standards.
Toolbox supports the following basic standards: ANSI Inch, ANSI Metric, BSI, DIN, ISO and JIS.

Hardware Bolts

Use the Toolbox Hardware dialog box to access and configure the hardware components provided
by Toolbox and to insert them into drawings. Toolbox supports the following hardware: bolts and
screws, nuts, pins and washers. The category you choose determines what you can select in the
dialog box, including the type and size of hardware components and the properties that you can
configure for the components.

Once the Hardware dialog is set with the preferred item to be inserted, you can locate the item on
screen and with tracker you can orient the item in any direction desired.

Balloons

You can insert Toolbox balloons using default settings or after you define balloon styles and options
in the Toolbox -Balloon Settings dialog box.
The steps for inserting balloons differ depending on your balloon settings. The Command window
prompts you for the information needed to insert the balloon.

Use Toolbox to insert balloons on an assembly drawing. If the item is a Toolbox object, DraftSight will
know what it is and there is no need to define it for the Bill of Materials. If the item is not a Toolbox
object, the Toolbox Edit Balloon dialog will appear in order to identify the object.

Stacked Balloons

Toolbox can create stacked balloons. When you need to attach more than one balloon to a leader,
such as when there is a stack up of hardware, simply select the stacked option.

Use the Toolbox Surface Finish Symbol dialog box to configure the surface finish symbols you add
to drawings.

Welding Symbols

When your DraftSight drawing is for a project that requires welds, you can add Toolbox welding
symbols to describe the type of welds, their sizes, and other processing and finishing information.

Add hole callouts to annotate the Toolbox holes in your drawing with dimensions and descriptions.

You can create a hole table by selecting holes with callouts. The table lists the locations and
descriptions of the selected holes.

Insert Bill of Materials

You can create a Toolbox Bill of Materials (BOM) in a drawing after you insert balloons into the
drawing. The BOM shows data for the blocks you associate with balloons.
Before you create a Toolbox BOM, you must insert balloons into the drawing.

Use a Toolbox revision table to track revisions in a drawing.


A revision table consists of a title and header row and individual revision rows. When you create a
revision row, you can insert revision symbols that are linked to the row.
