This checklist serves both as a convenient summary and as a means for double-checking the installation steps as they are completed. It also serves as a reminder of exactly what steps yet remain until the Clarus 500 MS system installation is fully complete. INSPECT THE SHIPMENT Upon receipt of the Clarus 500 MS system, inspect the exterior of all the shipping cartons. All cartons should arrive unopened and undamaged. If the boxes arrive damaged, notify the carrier and PerkinElmer immediately.

Initial Inspection ? Inspect shipping cartons for physical damage and verify Clarus 500 MS unit or any of the accessory parts were not damaged during shipment. ? Check hardware shipping kit for completeness. 1. CI source (optional) 2. Clarus 500 MS to computer Ethernet cable. 3. Clarus 500 MS to AutoSystem XL start cable. 4. Integral Link to computer cable 5. Heated interface (transfer line). 6. Abrasive sheets 7. Tool kit 8. Filament 9. Ferrules 10. GC Alignment locator dowels 11. Test mix 12. Calibration mix (FC-43) 13. Forepump cable 14. Install the heated interface (transfer line) and connect electrical control cable. ? Verify the Clarus 500 MS line voltage on the back panel label. ? Verify computer for proper voltage setting. ? Set the switch 6 on the Integral Link to On and all the rest Off. ? Remove the top cover of the Clarus 500 MS and inspect all PC boards, making sure that they are properly seated in the backplane. Remove any packing materials. ? Loosen Clarus 500 MS lid assembly screws two turns to prevent lid from warping and causing a leak. ? Check JP7 on the GCMS (analog) PCB in the Clarus 500 MS. 1. JP7 installed (No Alarm function enabled). 2. JP7 removed (Alarm function enabled). ? Set the Clarus 500 MS feet to align with the Clarus 500 GC; install locating dowel pins onto the GC and fit the two units together. ? Set the forepump switch to On. ? Fill forepump with oil and set vacuum setting on pump to small drops (high vacuum) mode. ? Set the ballasting to 0 (not I or II). ? Check forepump for proper voltage setting. ? Install vacuum inlet filter onto pump, connect all pump fittings and verify that all fittings on vacuum system are tight. ? Remove vent cap and ferrule from vent fitting on the rear of the Clarus 500 MS and connect nitrogen purge line with regulator and restrictor. ? Connect CI reagent gas regulator and line to reagent inlet fitting (if option is installed). ? Connect cables: 1. Ethernet between Clarus 500 MS and computer. 2. Integral Link in Clarus 500 GC to computer. 3. Start/Ready and Alarm from Clarus 500 MS to Clarus 500 GC. SDB N651003A.doc September 9, 2002 Page 4 a. Red TB1 - 7 b. Blue TB1- 8 4. Power cable to Clarus 500 MS. 5. Power cable from Clarus 500 MS to forepump. 6. Power cables to computer and monitor. ? Pump down system with transfer line capped off and perform leak test (air/water). ? Condition column, then install column to Clarus 500 MS and perform sensitivity test, IQ/OQ (if purchased). ?
