team was well represented at the
WIAAState Championships in
Madison October 16-18. The team
enjoyed one of the most successful
seasons in the programs history.
The Bombers opened the season
by winning the eight-team Kohler
Invitational, with Audra Hoffmann
(No. 1 singles), and Emily Gues-
neau and Amelia Grose (No. 3 dou-
bles) winning their flights. The
following weekend the Bombers
achieved a milestone by defeating
both Wausau Newman and Green
Bay Notre Dame at University
School Invitational. This was the
first ever team win over each of
these schools.
The Eastern Wisconsin Confer-
ence season began with a tough 3-
4 loss to Manitowoc Roncalli, but
the Bombers cruised through the
remainder of the EWC schedule
winning by wide enough margins
to secure the teams second straight
EWC title, and the third conference
championship in four years. The
Bombers finished the regular sea-
son 13-6 in dual meets and headed
into the post season with one of the
strongest lineups in team history.
The season ended at subsection-
als for No. 3 singles Lauren Horth
(14-12), and the No. 2 doubles duo
of Frannie Hillstrom and Jamie
Lewis (13-12). Later that week the
Sectional tournament was the end
of the road for No. 4 singles Eve-
lyn Heun (13-4), and No. 3 doubles
Emily Guesneau and Amelia Grose
(22-6).
Qualifying for state at sectionals

tain Audra Hoffmann, and No. 1

tain Katie Lindow. Junior Anna

a few days before she was awarded
a special qualifier for the state tour-

Anna Mesalles made her WIAA

Anthony Bocchini
May 5, 1929 - October
20, 2014
Anthony Tony Fran-
cis Bocchini, 85, passed
away peacefully while
surrounded by his family
on Monday morning, Oc-
tober 20, 2014, at the Sharon S
Richardson Community Center.
Tony was born to Anthony and
Mary (Giaudrone) Bocchini on
May 5, 1929, in Bay View, Wis-
consin. He graduated from Boys
Tech in Milwaukee in 1949 and
then joined the Army in 1951.
During his Military Career, he
Graduated OCS as 2nd Lt in 1952.
He proudly served in the Korean
War from 1954 - 1956, leaving the
armed forces in 1958. Tony mar-
ried his loving wife of 63 years,
Charline Van Der Elsen, on April
21, 1951, in Milwaukee, Wiscon-
sin. While raising his family, he
pursued and received his Metallur-
gical Engineering Degree from the
Milwaukee School of Engineer-
ing.
Tony worked at Wehr Steel and
Bucyrus Erie before joining the
Kohler Company in 1972.
Throughout his career he was in-
strumental in bringing new tech-
nology to the Foundry through the
Herman Line, the Osborn,
and the ATL. He was the
VP of Metals and the Gen-
eral Manager of the
Shanghai plant (which he
worked on from the
ground up) for the last 10
years of his career. After
32 years with the Kohler Co. he re-
tired after which he spent 1 year as
Acting VP of Operations for the
Kohler Canac facility in Canada.
There was no one more impor-
tant to Tony than his wife Char.
They raised 6 wonderful children
and then traveled the world to-
gether. They shared their 50th
wedding anniversary and Tony's
80th birthday with the entire fam-
ily in Las Vegas. He could never
be surrounded enough by his kids,
grandkids, great-grandkids, and
granddogs. In May he celebrated
his 85th birthday with his family
and friends at Doug and Lisa's
house in Kohler.
Tony's love for learning was ev-
idenced by his vast library and
knowledge of languages. His work
allowed him, and often times with
Char, to travel worldwide. He was
fascinated by different cultures. In
any language or country Tony was
respected and admired for embrac-
ing the people and their culture
When he spent time with some-
one, he shared with them all of his
knowledge and truly entertained
them with conversation and sto-
ries.

A joint high school presentation
of 25th Annual Putnam County
Spelling Bee will be held at Kohler
Memorial Theatre performed by
Kohler and Howards Grove high
schools on November 6, 7, and 8
at 7:00 p.m., and November 9 at
2:00 p.m.
A hilarious tale of awkward high
school-aged overachievers, their
hopes, their dreams, and their
angst as they compete for a slot in
the National Spelling Bee. Over-
seen by adults still stuck in adoles-
cence themselves, they sing their
stories, utilize unique spelling
techniques and learn that losing
doesnt necessarily make you a
loser.
Advance tickets are available at
the school offices for $6.00 or
$8.00 at the door.

FROM POLICE CHIEF
BILL RUTTEN
Drug Disposal Box
As of this writing, the Kohler Police
Departments drug disposal box in its
lobby is locked. The Sheboygan
County Planning Department provided
our department a secure drop box to
collect any drugs that needed to be dis-
posed of several years ago. The pro-
gram was instituted to help keep drugs
from reaching landfills or being
flushed into the water system. At this
time, the grant money for this project is
no longer available. Due to regulations
our local garbage collectors cant ac-
cept anything that is not an over the
counter medication, and the Village
would be held responsible to have
someone qualified to sort all the med-
ication dropped in the box. Therefore,
we will not be accepting any drugs
until further notice. Hopefully we will
find a solution and be able to accept
drugs to be disposed of again soon.
Gunlocks
With gun deer hunting season right
around the corner, the Kohler Police
Department is reminding all those with
firearms to use caution when handling
firearms. Also, the Kohler Police De-
partment continues to supply Master-
lock trigger locks for all residents that
want one. One free gunlock can be ob-
tained from the police department just
by stopping in. For those who have al-
ready obtained one in 2014, another
can be obtained starting in 2015. In ad-
dition to the Masterlock trigger locks
provided by the Kohler Police Depart-
ment, a federal program, Project Child-
safe continues to have locks available
at the police department, while sup-
plies last. These locks are the cable
lock variety and anyone may request
up to three of those for their guns too.
FROM PUBLIC WORKS
SUPERINTENDENT
BRUCE NEERHOF
Leaf Collection
Leaf collection will continue through
December 1
st
. Leaves should be raked
into the street along the curb in a three-
foot (3) wide row. No grass clippings,
sticks, or other garden debris is al-
lowed. The Public Works Department
follows a schedule for leaf collection.
The collection starts on the south end
of the Village where the trees are more
mature and produce more leaves. The
route continues to the west and north
sections of the Village. During the last
part of October and early part of No-
vember we may only be able to get
through the Village once a week and
cannot make exceptions since this will
affect the collection schedule.
Fall Yard Waste
Yard waste must be put into the carts
with the green lid. On October 28 and
November 4, yard waste may be put
into additional containers after the cart
is full for these two special pickup
weeks.

Board Presidents Report (Marlene Yang)
The committee of the whole meeting will take
place on Thursday, September 11 not Sep-
tember 22.
The fall regional meeting at the Milhomme
Supper club will take place on October 8,
2014. Workshops will be conducted this year.
The legislative breakfast held at Plymouth High
School will be on September 15.
Marlene recognized the efforts of all those
who partook in the Kohlers Got Talent Show
and to all those people who volunteer their
time and efforts towards these types of activ-
ities. The school board appreciates and val-
ues their contributions.
Superintendents Report (Quynh Trueblood)
Our school community welcomed students
and families to a new year of learning and
growth. Efforts in preparation and attention to
caring and positive interactions made possible
a great first week.
Pre-session keyed our community to the
power of our interactions toward a strength-
ening climate and culture in service to stu-
dents. Reconnecting with each other and our
collective mission was an energizing experi-
ence.
The traffic pattern before and after school is
alleviated from last year. Contributing to the
assurance of physical safety are students bik-
ing and walking to school, families following
traffic rules, and an improved orderly system
at the elementary school. Equally important
is the careful monitoring of student perform-
ance as a result of an earlier start time for
middle and high school students. Our collec-
tive commitment is making a difference.
Bomber Pride launched in our schools with
presentations, matrices and Bomber
Bucks. Bomber Pride is an essential compo-
nent of the districts multilevel system of sup-
port focusing on the behavior side of student
achievement. The framework is based on
teaching, acknowledging, and reinforcing pos-
itive behaviors through an evidenced-based
system of data collection and responsiveness.
The second annual Whos Got Talent? organ-
ized by the Performing Art Organization was
a night of entertainment and fine arts celebra-
tion. The audience laughed, cheered, and
voted for fan favorites while the judges had the
most difficult of jobs. I thank the tireless ef-
forts the PAO Executive Board, Music Direc-
tors, families, and students who put together
a night to remember in continued support for
our music students.
We look forward to a special recognition cer-
emony at the Ebben Field Celebration for
supporters of the improvement project known
as Ebben Field Phase II. The event will take
place on Friday September 19 at the home
football game.
We also welcome the community to our open
house on Monday, September 22, showcas-
ing our National Blue Ribbon teachers, learn-
ing environments, facility.
Principals Report (Lori Neurohr)
Elementary News
We had a wonderful start to our school
year. The highlight of the week was our PBIS
(Positive Behavioral Interventions and Sup-
port) kickoff on Wednesday. Students started
the morning with an all school assembly in the
gymnasium and then went through stations all
morning learning about our behavior expecta-
tions around the school. The areas we fo-
cused on were: hallways, cafeteria,
playground, bathrooms, the bus and arrival
and dismissal. Our school is focusing on hall-
way and cafeteria behavior right now and re-
warding with a Bomber Buck if they are
making great choices. Students will be ran-
domly selected each week to receive a
prize. Throughout the year, we will be having
monthly school-wide assemblies to celebrate
our success and learn about new behavior ex-
pectations.
Middle School News
The middle school also kicked off PBIS this
past week and are focusing on their hallway
and cafeteria behaviors as well. The entire
middle school continued their annual tradition
of taking a field trip to Kohler Andrae. This trip
is all about building a community through ad-
visory groups. Students participated in events
such as The Nosy Cheerleader, Human Bingo,
Human Machine, a Scavenger Hunt, Cross the
River, Hold the Rope Relay, Academic Relay
and Tower Building. Many of these activities
are from TRIBES. TRIBES Learning Com-
munities is a research-based process that cre-
ates a culture that maximizes learning and
human development. Beyond lesson plans,
bully proofing, conflict management, disci-
pline and academic achievement, TRIBES of-
fers collaborative skills, community
agreements, meaningful participation, strate-
gies for integrating curriculum, and profes-
sional development, and leadership.

This science enrichment program allows
students to participate in a community serv-
ice project and also encourages them to use
some of their biology and chemistry skills.
The students will be actively involved in
collecting, analyzing, and interpreting biol-
ogy and chemistry data related to the water
quality of the Sheboygan River.
The Kohler group is responsible for test-
ing the river near Black Wolf Run Golf
Course. Some of the tests include dis-
solved oxygen, biological oxygen demand,
pH, temperature, total phosphates, nitrates,
turbidity, total solids, fecal coliform, and
macroinvertebrates. The water test results
are sent to the Great Lakes Area of Concern
Program, the UW-Sheboygan Water Qual-
ity Extension, and to the Department of
Natural Resources.
Other Sheboygan County schools test
different parts of the river, and all of the re-
sults are shared at a forum in the spring.
Along with presenting the data, students
suggest explanations for their findings, and
work together to explore possible action
plans that might have a positive impact on
the areas land conservation and the envi-
ronment. Students attend sessions where
water quality experts provide needed infor-
mation. Students involved in the program
are currently taking honors physics, ad-
vanced biology, and/or honors chemistry.
Ms. Krejcarek is the science teacher lead-
ing this group.

Celebrated annually on October
23 from 6:02 a.m. to 6:02 p.m.,
Mole Day commemorates Avo-
gadros number (6.02 x 10^23),
which is a basic measuring unit in
chemistry. Mole Day was created
as a way to foster interest in chem-
istry. Schools throughout the
United States and around the
world celebrate Mole Day with
various activities related to chem-
istry and/or moles.
The KHS chemistry students
celebrated National Mole day on
Thursday, Oct. 23 by singing mole
day songs, dressing in their origi-
nally designed mole day cos-
tumes, eating molasses cookies
(students were asked to convert
the metric units for the ingredients
into baking or English system
units) and enjoying a mole day
treat bag filled with fun gifts.
It was an exciting day in Chem-

KOHLER Original Recipe Chocolates debuts new Holiday collection
Four Signature Caramel Chocolates Celebrate the Festive Flavors of the Season
Kohler Co. is delighted to announce
the new line of Holiday Caramels, of-
fered in four varieties: Sea Salt
Caramel, Golden Caramel, Ginger
Snap Caramel and Almond Green
Caramel. Each decadent flavor, made
from KOHLER Original Recipe
Chocolates caramel covered in a
creamy chocolate shell, is inspired by
the nostalgic winter traditions, tastes
and smells of Wisconsin.
Growing up in the Midwest, I've
learned that true holiday traditions will
carry on from generation to generation
many of which include food and
drink, said Kohler Original Recipe
Chocolates Chocolatier, Anette Righi
DeFendi. My fondest seasonal mem-
ory is watching my grandparents and
parents enjoy dessert cocktails made
with Amaretto liquor paired with our
familys homemade Italian Pizzelle
waffle cookies. This sweet pairing cel-
ebrates the warming flavors of al-
mond, which I've recreated in the
Almond Green Caramel.
Each artistic chocolate is airbrushed
with seasonal hues of silver, gold, red
and green creating a festive shimmer-
ing sheen to mimic the flow of poured
caramel.
Silver: Sea Salt Caramel is a dark
smoky caramel infused with a light
taste of sea salt
Gold: Traditional and savory Golden
Caramel with a hint of brown sugar
Red: Ginger Snap Caramel in a dark
chocolate shell filled full of soft notes
of molasses to resemble a gingerbread
cookie
Green: Almond Green Caramel in-
fused with a striking almond flavor
All four varieties are offered in
ready-to-gift packaging adorned with
delicate, signature hand-tied bows
making them a perfect gift for both
friends and family. Available for
purchase online at
KohlerChocolates.com, Destination
Kohler and specialty grocery stores
throughout the United States October
23 through the holiday season, the
Holiday Caramels are offered as four-
piece ($9.99), nine-piece ($18.99), and
32-piece ($59.99) variety packages or
as nine-piece packages of each indi-
vidual flavor.
The Holiday Caramels and
KOHLER Original Recipe Chocolate
signature lines are made at the
Craverie Chocolatier Cafe at The
