bordered so that the image stands out on the page , the image is a
medium close up that directly addresses the reader, this makes a
personal connection to the audience and further create a sense of
familiarity. The main image is directly above a title of a featured
special article; this would cause readers to associate the image with
the article and anchoring the text and providing information for the
target audience.
Date - NME
have
displayed
their date
along the top
of the page,
the use of

serif font
coincides
with the
existing
house style, it
also follows
the code and
conventions
of magazines
by including a
date.

Masthead from their front page to create
brand familiarity, uses bold sans serif font
along the top of the page in the same font
other subheadings creates a recognisable
style and makes the text appear broad, bulky
and noticeable.
Rule of Thirds- The layout of the contents page
follows the rule of thirds, splitting off into three
columns to section off key differing areas of the
magazine , i.e. the band index, touring special and
articles of interest and the main image used. Areas of
interest are in hot spots around the contents page.
The Band
Index/Contents-
NME uses a band
index as a contents
list, providing page
numbers for
magazine content.
Small font size so
not to take up too
much space
compared to other
subheadings, the
text is red and black
which follows the
consistent colour
scheme
Mode of address- NME has used
informal language to directly address the
reader in a familiar manner , similar to
the way a friend may talk to them, this
may encourage the reader to the buy the
magazine as they are being involved and
addressed in the text.
Layout/ Mise-en-
scene- the Layout fills
the entire contents
page creating an
almost emulating the
busy effect that
appears on the front
cover, there is little to
no white space, page is
crowded similar to how
a tour or concert would
be, also the use of
words such as LIVE!,
Band and Touring
create a mise-en-scene
of a music tour, this
might appeal to music
fans and target
audiences
Advertisement/
Subscription-
The text is in a
different, bright
colour yellow so
that it will be
noticed on the
page by the
target audience,
it is in a
separate box
from other
pieces of
information on
the page,
language such
as the word
Just is used to
persuade
people to
subscribe.
