Subject: ATA 32 A320 FAMILY PROCEDURES FOR LANDING GEAR RECYCLING
FOLLOWING L/G GEAR NOT DOWNLOCKED ECAM WARNING
Reason: The reference FOT is published by AIRBUS to introduce a new procedure for
the recycling of the landing gear, in case of a L/G GEAR NOT
DOWNLOCKED ECAM warning.

DESCRIPTION: A number of reported events have led AIRBUS to review the AIRBUS policy
regarding the instruction to recycle the landing gear.
If the Main Landing Gear (MLG) door opening sequence fails, the L/G GEAR NOT DOWNLOCKED
ECAM alert is triggered. In the current procedure, the flight crew must recycle the landing gear, before
attempting a gravity extension. The objective of this recycling is to switch over the LGCIU and exercise
the system in an attempt to successfully extend and down-lock the landing gear.
AIRBUS tests and studies indicate that an enhancement in the procedure for the recycling of the landing
gear may enable the flight crew to manage the specific failure of the MLG door actuator.
AIRBUS RECOMMENDATIONS: In accordance with the result of the tests, the flight crew must
attempt this recycling up to 5 times if necessary, before they use gravity extension. The flight crew
must wait for 60 seconds with the landing gear lever in the down position, before attempting a new
recycling.
NOTE: QRH revision based on OEB 44-1 revised by the above referred FOT is also enclosed as an
advance copy for crew awareness.
