1. What does the writer portray through the story?

The story is about the first words and first passing through the life when she
was a younger.
She related her memories about hers parents, her relationship with them, and
to make confession with mixed feelings concerning this moments, because she knows
cannot live the same moments twice, cannot transform past into present, simply must
continuos her life, live her live without come back again.
She must express her feelings written on a piece of paper, the pieces of paper
flew up into the wind, then dropped to the Surface of the ocean, floating up and down
until they were out of sight.
And also in the story related her father was disagree about colonization his
country, and he sleep to liberate from colonial rule, he died without achieving any of
thesem without writing anything, lived a life of semi exile in faraway corners of the
country.
In this story she described her relation with uncle, who always disagreement
about the women going to university, and the girls mixing with boys and men, a
different the Nawals father, he dont importance about colonization, and note ven live
under foreign rules, never opposed the government or the King, he prayed that Allah
protect a King Farouk.
2. Explain and give examples of linguistic indicators of view point considering the
following:
a).- Evaluative expressions
b).- Indicators of the characters perception (verbs used)
Nawal El Saadawi, instill very special emotions and feelings from her mother,
and being felt from a deep sadness for parents dead.
She remember wrote a first poem in early youth, because considered that
amputed one a part of her life, maybe writing her memories, she recovered this pieces
of life has been forgotten.

She used in her story very expressive verbs, that indicated her feelings, and
used very phrases bore with emotions, for example:
As I write, moments of the past emerge into the light. Body memory becomes one
with my spirit, with my blood.
I discover the past, rediscover it again and again
I used to bury may face in her breast, smell the odour of her milk, of the hot soup she
prepared of Winter nigths, of corn cake rising in the oven.
The smell of may mothers body is a part of me, of my body, of its spirit, of the hidden
strength I carry within me.
In adition used the verbs in first person and used personal pronoun I, for
indicated the autobiographical character about her story.
3. Explain the different variations in speech presentation considering:
a).- Narrators representation of action
b).- Indirect speech
c).- Direct speech

The authors point of view in Preface The Gift, is autobiographical , because she
described her life, that leave proof is related her story in first person: I wrote was my
name. I loved the way it looked. I loved my mother more tan my father.
The first-person narrative allowed richly ilustrated the situation about her life,
and her relationship about her mother and father, about god, religion, tabues and
politics situation in her country, her not agree about ideas her uncle in relation to the
girls and women going to university and mixed with boys and men. .
My point of view, in relation about lifes Nawal El Saadawi, specifically born
from the autobiographical relate, because is a traveled around her life, around you
internal world. Her describe her life through represented by literature image, in
consequence I consider about her story, have a great emotional intensity, which
allows recreate the situation living at an early age.
When communicate different emotions, one can conclude the GIFT, is a grace,
legacy, blessings who had her in earlier age, is more than a simple meaning name,
because represented experiences, knowledge and life lesson gain of her parents and
grandmother.
