Safety recommendations
As high pressures/forces constitute a potential safety risk, the
following instructions must be considered:

The equipment should only be operated by trained personnel.

Always follow the operating instructions.
Check the puller and all accessories carefully before use. Never
use even slightly damaged components.
Make sure the force rating of the puller exceeds maximum
withdrawal force.
Always prevent the workpiece/tool from being projected upon
sudden release of pressure (e.g. by use of retaining nut).
Ensure that the puller arms are properly secured around the
workpiece. Claws must be fully engaged.
Ensure that the separators are properly secured behind the
workpiece.
Ensure that the split collet extractors are fully inserted and
expanded in the bearing/application.
Make sure the force is equally distributed over the puller.
Never use the equipment above the stated maximum force.
Do not extend handle(s) in order to reduce the required force to
reach the maximum pressure. Use hand pressure only.
Use personel protection equipment, such as protective goggles
and gloves (e.g. TMBA G11W).
Cover the work with a protective blanket or shield while force
being applied.
Never modify the unit.
Use original parts only.
In case of any uncertainties as regards the use of the puller,
contact SKF.

2. Assembly instructions
To make your new SKF puller system ready
for use, lay the board with its backside on a
flat surface.
Mount, using a screwdriver and a pair of
pliers, the screws, tool clips and the hooks in
the pre-drilled holes. Please refer to the
drawing of the puller board on page 5. Also be
aware of the thickness of the board in relation
to the thread of the hooks.
After mounting the accessories, install the
board to the wall according to the drawing on the right. Use at least 2
screws and plugs to fix the board to the wall. After this you can click the
tools on the board.

4.2 Operating instructions hydraulic jaw puller

Select the appropriate arms (a) for
your application. Connect them to
the stand (b), using bolts and nuts
provided. Thread hydraulic spindle
(c) into stand.
c
b

Attach the puller to the bearing.

The arms will automatically centre
as soon as you load the puller.
Tighten down spindle on internal
thread. Use extension pieces if
necessary.

SKF TMMB 100

Extract by using hand pressure on

T-bar provided. Do not use extra
leverage in an attempt to increase
power since this will inflict risk to
damage the spindle.

4.3 Operating instructions strong back puller

Adjust the seperators behind the
component to be dismounted.
When necessary tighten the two
halves together in order to remove
component from abutment
(concave sides towards
component.) For best performance
puller should engage inner ring (i.e.
flat side to face bearing).
Connect main and extension rods
until suitable length is reached.

Attach the beam including the

hydraulic spindle and tighten down
spindle on internal thread. Use
extension pieces if necessary. Only
use hand pressure on T-bar
provided. Extra leverage inflicts risk
to damage the spindle.

6.2 Operating instructions

1. Select arms and spindle with the aid of
the selection chart.
2. Make sure arms are spread over the
bearing as per chart on next page.
3. Attach the arms to the spindle nut. For
easy assembly the spindle nut is
provided with an elastic locking ring that
keeps the arms in correct position during
installation.
4. After inserting the handle in the spindle
nut the bearing can easily be dismounted
with a spanner (AF 19 or AF 24).
5. The two largest arm sets are provided
with locking plates which rest against the
inner ring of the bearing preventing the
arm tip from slipping out of the raceway.
