Glimpse of the Future: A Class Prophecy, XU MED 2013

Joel A. Barker, a thinker, a scholar, and who most would call a futurist, was the first person to
popularize the concept of paradigm shifts. As Oxford defines it, a paradigm shift is a great and
important change in the way something is done or thought about. Indeed, nothing in this world is ever
constant, except for change, well, that and probably our deep heart-felt hatred for Final Comprehensive
exams. But putting scumbag 30-day long final exams aside, we all come to realize that come April, we
will all be busy with our own rotations and will probably have little time to mingle with each other. A
paradigm shift, from our usual PBL discussions, noisy conquests at the library, luncheon meetings at
Mcdo or Jolibee, and pointless, depressing gatherings outside the room after exams. We then, expect a
lot of paradigm shifts to happen from now until we pass the boards, until we see each other in the
hospital halls as colleagues. But have you ever wondered to what extent paradigm shifts can affect us,
say 10 or 20 years into the future? Ladies and Gentlemen, this is a sneak peak.
Its safe to say that all if not, most of us would be making waves in the medical world, not only
as doctors, but also as productive members of society in general. And safe to say, we will not limit
ourselves to the world of medicine, but we also find our calling in the most remote of places. Take Dra.
Castillo, Dra. Reyes, Dra. Dafilmoto, Dra. Monasterio, Dra. Anggot, Dra. Maravillers and Dr. Resma for
example. They are all bombastic powerhouses in the field of fashion. Dr. Cash, who is an OB-GYN
subspecializing in reconstructive surgery of the Vulva, is also a well known cover girl of FHM, Maxim, and
Sports Illustrated. She was last seen as the centerfold of People Magazine, telling her struggles as a vulva
specialist and as a model. Going head to head with Dr. Cash is Dr. Hazel who is the most paid Victorias
secret model in the world, but while shes not busy blazing the catwalk with her scantily clad boobies,
she sits in her clinic seeing patients as an internist specializing in venereal diseases, a new subspecialty
under infectious diseases, to date she has helped in curing over a thousand of girls with STIs, and is a
pillar in HIV-AIDS research here in the country.
Meanwhile, Dra Merry Chris and Ivy, the dynamic duo behind the latest trends in make-up and beauty
have released their co-authored study on the dangers of using animal fat-based lipsticks in the
International Journal of Dermatology. They are also busy in their respective roles as print media
supermodels. Dra. Merry will be known for winning the Worlds Next Top Model Season 1, while Dra. Ivy
had her fair share of fame by winning the Ford Supermodel of the world Season 35. While the four are
busy running their medical careers, it is their designer and mentor, Dr Ian, who manages the four and is
the owner of 33% of the corporate fashion world. Hes a bigtime fashionista, who in his spare time,
practices as a pediatric rheumatologist. Dr. Ian is rivaled in skill only by the Fashion Sisters of the House
of Chorva run by Drs. Dafilmoto and Monasterio, who own the remaining 67% of the fashion world.
Theyre latest ventures are in synthetic animal prints and fish nets which reportedly have earned 7
figures. Edelle, who also likes to model in her spare time, can be seen in an add by Gucci where she
wears nothing but fish nets. Provocative and stylish. Yes, especially for a neurosurgeon, she specializes
in treating disorders of the nervi erigentes! Andrea on the other hand is now a pediatric-cardiologist
specializing in valvular heart diseases. While she is not busy repairing heart valves, she travels the world

in style hosting the longest running Worlds next top model franchise. Rumor has it that shes also the
person behind the NGO Mimings for life, a save and adopt program for Pusakals all over the world.
Leaving the fashion world behind, we go to the world of business. Who is dominated by Drs. Justin Yap,
Sanchez, Eleazar, Gironella, and Cagata. Dr. Justin aside from being a well-known cosmetic surgeon
whose skill is unparalleled in breast augmentation, is also a leading entrepreneur in the realm of microbusiness expansion. He has been awarded the best businessman of the decade by Business World
Magazine, and has since expanded his minute burger shop to great heights, improved its efficiency with
his skills in micromanagement and now calls it millisecond burger. He now owns 75% of Ayala, and 90%
of the stocks of SM.
Meanwhile, business tycoons and power couple Dr. Klement Eleazar and his Wife Dr. Irene SanchezEleazar, have just succeeded in separating the most celebrated case of conjoined twins in the world.
Klem, who is now a cosmetic surgeon specializing in reconstructive surgery and Irene, who is a pediatric
cardiothoracic surgeon, have separated twins with one heart, one esophagus, and one lung successfully,
with both babies able to survive. Their secret: teamwork, passion and love. But while they are not
separating otherwise hopeless conjoined twins, they vent their energies on running their multi-billion

The business world is also not complete without mentioning Dr. Eleni Marie, who besides being an

facebook and twitter bankrupt. She reportedly earns 1 million dollars per minute, which she willingly
donates to various charities. It is said that for every link you click, you feed 500 children around the
world, send them to school and pay for their college education. Even, Angelina Jolie has conceded to
Eleni in terms of humanitarian achievements. Speaking of humanitarian efforts, Dr. Janella Marice BigolAcebu is also well known for her advocacy of Beauty and self-love. She put up Boobs today, a
humanitarian non profit organization poised to help adolescents and young adults cope with hypomastic

their spare time, Dr/Atty Coraler likes to visit Korea and live a double life as a Kpop superstar, while Dr.
Rene heads the diagnostics department of Maryland hospital and teaches superduper advanced
pathology at Harvard Medical School.
Meanwhile, Dr. Josh, who likes to bust crime Sherlock holmes style was reported recently as missing
in action. He was last seen fighting off the combined powers of the Japanese yakuza, the Russian mafia
and the HoodBoyz of downtown Manhattan. It was rumored that after maiming and disbanding the
three notorious drug rings, he had plastic surgery, lost weight, changed his identity and moved to

Now on to showbiz where household names like the blooming bloomers, composed of the highly
talented and sought after names of Drs. Macarimbang, Usman, Sarosong, Maginalang, and Mipanga

respected pediatricians and are dispensing advice from how to rear children to how to discipline

they got their studio audiences two cars each and flew them to Hawaii for a vacation. Dr. Suson is also a
talk show host, she now hosts Salamat Doc in ABS CBN, but she is most known for being the echusera ng

internist specializing in emergency medicine. So whenever there are a lot of brawl and blunt injuries
while tapping, she immediately treats them. She is also responsible for establishing the emergency

911. The show invites doctors Ralph Yap, Nathalie Beltran, and Jhoanna Tadeo as the BIG THREE
panelist. Dr Beltran is a psychiatrist and is the mental consultant of the show. She specializes in deviant
behavior and is a well loved physician by all of her neurotic and psychotic patients. She is rumored to
come out in Survivor Philippines Pinoy Big Brother Edition. Dr/Atty. Tadeo is the legal counsel of the
group. She finished her Masters degree in international Law in Cambridge, and her Doctorate in Civil
Law at Harvard. She is also an OB-GYN trophoblastic disease specialist. She now teaches Medical Ethics
and Legal Medicine in XU-JPRSM. Dr. Ralph is the technical adviser of the group. He specializes as a
Trauma surgeon, but is also a well respected psychoanalyst of the female psyche. In his latest book,
How women think he outlines how to successfully deal with the nuances of everyday living with
women. It is rumored that he will be producing the movie My Cactus Heart part 3 starring Dr. Louanne Cortejos paired with Xian Lim. Dr.Cortejos, apart from being a pediatric geneticist, runs the new
born screening laboratory in Manila. She is also a movie and TV personality, pairing with Edward Norton,
in Fight Club 2, Jeremy Renner in The Bourne Family, and Brad Pitt in Mr and Mrs Jones. She is
rumored to have an on and off relationship with renowned author and writer, Neil Gaiman.
In the meantime, Africa, in the year 2025, Africa is now the center of all humanitarian and public health
efforts. It is here that Drs. Lamasan, Feril, Bolok, Cabudoy and Calang are based as experts in public
health and public service. Dr. Lamasan, who is an epidemiologist, is also the latest person to be awarded
the Nobel Peace Prize for his work in managing hunger and malnutrition in Africa, and providing millions
with houses and fighting African rebels on his own. He reportedly lives inside a one-storey bamboo

replaced an aging Maggie Q in nikita. She is now the star of the show, now named after the character
she plays. She plays a double agent spy with a rocking hot body poised to kill those who have betrayed
her one by one. She is KINITA! Nicole on the other hand is rumored to be the next addition to the cast of

Reportedly, Missionary doctors Vira and Caryl Vin also come to play great roles in the fight against
inequality with Vira as a Social Oncologist mastering on cancers of society and Caryl Vin as an Epidemic
specialist on water-borne diseases, have joined forces to create the Non-profit organization UNISEX,
where they fight for equal rights among all genders. They are also monitoring the HIV-AIDS situation in

disaster. Reportedly, when not rescuing people from certain doom, Neil is said to be honing his skills in
ballet, it is rumored that he is to play the lead in the upcoming masculinized version of the Black Swan.
The year 2025 also marks the return of Jazz Blues Rock, with the rise of the band BOSSING lead by
leadsinger Dr. Talingting, and composed of Dr. Felipe on guitar, Dr. Santiago on bass guitar, Dr. Jurado,
