COMMUNITY SERVICE:

This week, Chief Stracek met with three groups

from our community, Kiwanas club, Triad
group, and the FDL Elders Group. All of these
were productive meetings to bridge any gaps
between the police department and these groups
who want to make this community stronger.

PATROL/DETECTIVES:
This week Jeff Palmer and Derek Randall
finished their last week of leadership training.
This three week training will provide the tools
necessary for long term management of current
and incoming patrol officers to our department.
In the early morning hours of 10/31/2014 and
11/01/2014 officers investigated three vehicle
damage reports. It was learned that three
vehicles in the locations of 401 3rd Street, 341
10th Street, and 1802 Selmser Avenue had
windows shot out by the use of BB gun type
firearms. These vehicles were all parked on the
roadway when these incidents occurred. This
matter is still under investigation.

A.M. officers were called to the Cloquet
Memorial Hospital in regards to a male
there who appears to have been in a
domestic assault situation. Officers arrived
and spoke with a male who had injuries
which appeared to be cut or stab wounds
to his left leg. Officers were able to
determine this male was in a domestic
relationship with another male party and it
appeared as though both had consumed to
much alcohol. Officers were able to
speak with the victims domestic partner,
and learned both had been involved in a
physical fight. The victim however would
not cooperate and told officers that he
sustained his injury due to a fall. Officers
did ultimately arrest one male for 5th
degree domestic assault.

Some things to ponder:

People who think they know everything
are a great annoyance to those of us who
do.
I believe that if life gives you lemons,
you should make lemonadeAnd try to
find somebody whose life has given them
vodka, and have a party.

On 11/01/2014 at approximately 12:30 A.M.

officers were dispatched to the 700 blook of 29th
Street regarding a physical domestic. Upon
arrival, officers observed a male and female
yelling and screaming. As officers continued
their investigation they could see both parties
had injuries to their faces. Officers called for
Cloquet ambulance to respond as well due to the
injuries they had observed on the male. He was
transported to St. Lukes Hospital in Duluth,
while the female was arrested and charged with
5th degree domestic assault.

Get your facts first, then you can distort

them as you please.
A day without sunshine is like, you
know, night.
Behind every great man is a woman
rolling her eyes.
Life is hard, after all, it kills you.
Sincerely,
Detective Darrin Berg
