Academy
The New York Film Academy is a unique educational institution,
devoted to providing the most focused filmmaking, acting, and
animation instruction in the world. Their workshops offer an
intensive, hands-on experience which gives students the
opportunity to develop their creative skills to the fullest extent
possible.
WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT ON THIS COURSE?
Choose from seven programs:
English Plus Filmmaking
Learn the art and craft of filmmaking through a balance of classroom instruction,
hands-on film workshops, and immediate directing experience. You will be behind
the camera from the first day of class. Learn about and explore the numerous
visual, dramatic, and technical challenges that directors face. In addition to
writing, producing,directing, and editing your own films, you will have the
opportunity to assist other members of their crews in the roles of director of
photography, assistant cameraperson, and gaffer/grip, providing everyone with
extensive set experience.
English Plus Hi-Def Filmmaking
Side by side with highly experienced, Apple-certified editing instructors, you will
edit professionally shot scenes, gaining invaluable experience through in-depth
exploration of story structure, style and content approaches.
English Plus Acting for Film
For beginners as well as experienced actors, the Acting for Film school provides you
with modern on-camera acting techniques as well as a foundation in time-honored
theatrical traditions. With professional instructors who are working actors, writers,
directors, producers with experience in independent film, television, Broadway, OffBroadway and regional theater, students will be learning from the industry's best.
English Plus Musical Theatre
Study the various aspects of musical theatre craft to hone and perfect your skills.
The program is designed for individuals with singing and movement abilities who
may or may not have prior experience on a musical theatre stage.
English Plus 3D Animation
Learn the technical and artistic tools you need to master 3D animation. After the
program, you may choose to become an independent animators or to pursue a
career in the film, gaming, interactivity or commercial industries.

Minimum 8 weeks (4 weeks of English
classes at EC New York followed by 4
weeks at New York Film Academy)

20 lessons/week English (minimum 4
weeks, approx 30+ hours per week) and
approx 40+ lessons/week at New York
Film Academy (minimum 4 weeks,
approx 30+ hours per week)

English Lesson: 45 minutes

English Plus Producing


The production course is designed to illuminate one of the most important and
misunderstood jobs in film and television. Throughout the course students will
take a project (book, screen play or show concept) through the various stages of
development - pitch, treatment, script, talent search, budget, schedule, and plans
for marketing and distribution.
English Plus Photography
Receive comprehensive instruction in the aesthetics, techniques, and business of
photography through hands-on, experiential assignments while learning to use
state-of-the-art technology, equipment and software.
All instruction will be in English, giving students the opportunity to expand their
vocabulary while learning new skills and meeting fellow students from all over the
world.

*Filmmaking and Photography students wil incur additional expenses on their
own productions. This varies depending on how much film they shoot and the
scale of the projects.

Proof of high school graduation or equivalency / University transcripts
Upper-intermediate level of English
Phone interview may be required
No previous filmmaking experience necessary
I-20 Requirements Bank statement and/or Letter of Support (NYFA requires
students to submit bank statements with min $5900 available)

REFUNDS & CANCELLATION FEES
Written notification of cancellation must be submitted for refunds to be provided.
All refunds are made to the original fee payer.
Cancellation prior to arrival for individuals
For students cancelling within 7 days of signing the enrolment agreement all
except registration fee will be refunded.
Cancellation after arrivals or no shows for individuals
Students cancelling after the first lesson will forfeit the registration fee & be liable
to pay for any text books supplied to the student.
If termination of the course occurs the school may keep the following percentage
of the course fee:
School May Keep: 0-15% of the program 0%; 16-30% of the program 25% ; 31-45% of
the program 50%; 46-60% of the program 75%; After 60% of the program 100%
