Programme Overview
The PGPBM Programme is a
c o m p r e h e n s i v e Po s t G r a d u a t e
Programme that aims to develop students
into successful managers by honing their
skills to meet the current requirements of
business. It is a way of preparing today's
students for the highly competitive
challenges of the corporate environment
and global marketplace. Each student
who completes the program's rigorous
requirements will emerge with a level of
practical understanding and a range of
professional skill sets that will enable him
/ her to excel in the corporate world.
In short, the PGPBM curriculum trains our
students to improve their
competitiveness while enhancing their
analytical skills and emotional
intelligence.

Eligibility:
Graduate in any discipline from a recognized University.
Final year graduating students are also eligible to apply
for this program.

Program:
PGPBM is a full time two years autonomous programme.
The programme is conducted under the trimester
system with six trimesters spread over two academic
years.
The first year lays the foundation in the fundamentals of
management while the second year offers specialization
in particular disciplines namely marketing and finance.
This enables the students to have a holistic view of
business & apply this knowledge to simulated real life
situations.
The ISB&M PGPBM has key curriculum components
guaranteed to make this stand apart from its peers. A
unique five month long summer internship program not
only allows the students to have more acquaintance
with real life business operations, and also greatly
enhances the possibility of Pre Placement Offers to
deserving students.
The program is designed to deliver a business curriculum
that develops in our students a holistic and integrated
perspective of business while simultaneously giving
them a unique and compelling story to tell about
themselves, their aspirations, and their business
education.
The learning process involves eclectic mix of Lectures,

Management education at ISB&M is
designed to address the learning needs of
students. The programmes of the institute

Students enroll at General Management

Programme Overview
ISB&M Kolkata believes in preparing
students for leadership roles in strategic
communications. All students are required
to take courses in writing, marketing, case
analysis, statistics, research, graphics &
design, copy & visualization, media
planning and campaigns. The students are
offered a wide range of professional
electives, which allows them to broaden
their learning experiences.
The PGPMC course focuses on the general
principles & practices covering all
advertising and public relations activities.
Students also learn about key functional
areas of social media, management, media
planning, consumer behavior, social
marketing & research. After completing
this course they will be well-placed to
explore opportunities in a variety of areas.
These include Direct Marketing, Public
Relation, Corporate Communications,
Sales and Promotion, Media Planning,
Brand Management, Advertising.

Objective:
PGPMC is a diploma program with the primary
purpose of developing the skill set & professional
portfolio needed for entry level position in the
media industry. Small class sizes mean you will put
media theories into action right from the start and
acquire an impressive amount of real-world
experience through the entire duration at ISB&M,
Kolkata.

Eligibility:
Graduates in Arts, Commerce & Science, and final
year graduating students are eligible to apply for
this program.

Program:
The program has two components. The first
component consists of the courses that will be
offered by the institute (i.e. PGPMC). The second
component consists of the courses that will be
offered by the University (i.e. MSC-MCAJ).

Andragogy:
PGPMC course at ISB&M gives you a unique access
to experts from the worlds of Advertising, Public
Relation & Television. The College will prepare its
students to work in all areas of the exciting and
innovative media industry. The course is
meticulously designed to take the students through
the various fields of media thus increasing their
chances of choosing from a wide range of jobs. We
work at providing the media industry with well
groomed professionals while the industry lends us a
hand in training them.

Media & Communication (PGPMC)
Programme Design
The PGPMC course covers a wide
range of topics for communication
careers in Adver tising, Public
Relations, Corporate Communication
and Event Management. You will delve
into subjects as diverse as crisis
communication, digital marketing,
branding, buyer behavior, distribution
& competition. Highly accomplished
faculty & media professionals support
each specialized area.
Media Curricula updated to industry needs with
emphasis on holistic, 360 degree education where
theory and its practical applications are well
balanced giving students a flexible approach to
learning. The programmes of the institute are
offered at General Management Level and
Specialized Management Level. Students enroll at
General Management Level in the first year. At the
end of the General Management Level, students
can assess their learning need and decide to enroll
for Specialized Management Level. Students who
complete Specialized Management Level can seek
final placement assistance. At the end of the
General Management Level, ISB&M's placement
cell will assist student for internship training or
entry level jobs in the media industry.

After completion of General Management


Level, a student may take the Specialized
Management Level with dual
specialization. On completion of General
Management Level, one can opt to exit, if
he/she so desires.
Internship:
ISB&M Kolkata is one of the very few colleges in
the country which offers extensive 5-months
internship. It essentially an on-job-training for
which the students also earn a healthy stipend at
the top media companies. During the course of
20-weeks the students gain valuable insights
while the organization gets a complete sense of
the student. The students come back to the
campus enriched, & most of them, with a PrePlacement-Offer.

Dissertation:
In the 6th trimester every student is required to
submit a dissertation is an internal part of the
student's academics and therefore should be of
sufficient quality & importance. It's basically a
mini-research done under the guidance of a guide
who may be a faculty or an industry veteran.

Portfolio:
Every ISB&M media student would be able to
prepare his/her own portfolio which would
contain 3 ad films, 2 print advertisements & other
work during their internship. It's a tangible
demonstration of the student's caliber.

Academics:
Keeping the needs of the industry in mind the
media students have to study at least 30 courses
and undergo 10 workshops. The workshops are
conducted by leading professionals from the
media industry. In the first year they learn about
the various fields of media & in the second year
they focus on their area of specialization.

and Seminars

ISB&M holds various events, which play a


vital role in facilitating the industry interface.

ISB&M prides itself at being at the fore-front of the emerging industry scenario having
eminent speakers share their ideas and experiences in an attempt to keep abreast of
changing industry trends.
HR SHARE
An annual 2-day HR Conference is held, where industry leaders are invited
to discuss and debate on emerging trends in Human Resource
Management. The HR Share 2012 was held on October 12 & 13, 2012. The
theme of the conference was Bigger with Fewer:Building, Nurturing and
Retaining Core Talent Team.
The event, which was adorned by many industry stalwarts, provided a
platform for discussing the contemporary HR issues and sharing their
experience and challenges in their organizations.

Chain Act
Chain Act seminar was inaugurated by Mr. Zubin Poonawalla, CEO, Green
Logi Nxt, at the Campus Auditorium. The theme topic for the seminar was
"Futuristic Supply Chain: SCOPE (Supply Chain & Operations for
performance enhancements).
The topics handled during this event are mainly related to 'Supply Chain',
'Operations', 'Logistics', 'Information Technology in Supply Chain' and
the strategies and tactics involved in operating these in real time
scenario.

Media Mind Prints


The Media Seminar aims at providing students a launch pad from where
they can start their journey towards this ever expanding industry. The
seminar is an endeavor to direct world's attention to growth
opportunities present today and what the future holds in store for media
aspirants. Media Mind Prints intends to conduct the seminar to enlighten
and widen the perception of people towards media. Diversified theme
and subject ammeters would be picked up i.e "Are products merely slaves
to advertising.

Marketing Expo
Marketing Expo is an annual one-day marketing seminar organized with
the objective of providing our students with a platform to interact with
the practioners from the corporate world. The Marketing Expo was
inaugurated by Mr. Harish Bijoor, Founder CEO of Harish Bijoor
Consultants Inc. The discussed the brand and business strategy across
the markets of Hong Kong, USA, London, Dubai and the Indian subcontinent. The theme for the seminar was Peoples, Ideas and Challenges
-The Road Ahead.

E-Week
To develop and nurture an entrepreneur in every individual is the main
motive behind E-week. The theme Go Green implied prosperity but also
sustainability and clean environment around everyone. The event
comprised of: Photography, Logo Making, Collage Making, Poster
Making, Documentary Film-Making, Business Challenge and Green Quiz.
Each event had special learning in them which in turn provides a good
experience in developing skills, discovering, participating and organizing
the event.

Institute Foundation Day

participated in the extravaganza. Corporates Walk, in

Fiesta, a two day intercollege event, is organised
independently by the students of our own
college. Numerous highly contested events
ranging from debates and business plans to
fashion shows and rock band performances ,

full of fun, an event that is looked forward to
eagerly by all.
The highlight of the programme is the
performances by eminent artistes. Well-known
performers such as Atif Aslam, KK , Indian Ocean
and Insomnia have performed in the past.

Orientation Week for Freshers


The Orientation Week fosters and encourages a
direct interaction with leaders of the industry.
Each day has three or four speakers, all from the
industry, who, by sharing their views and
experiences with the students, empower them to
feel a part of the business world. The Orientation
Programme concludes with an overnight
Outbound Trip, an excellent way for the professors
and students to get to know each other.

Convocation
This is a solemn event where successful candidates
are awarded their certificates on completion of
their programmes. Medals are awarded to
outstanding achievers. The Convocation Address
and Keynote Speech are delivered by high profile
dignitaries.

The campus is situated in the environmentally friendly


'Green' Shrachi building, Synthesis Business Park, at
Rajarhat. It is centrally air-conditioned and caters to
every need of a student. Rajarhat is well connected with
frequent buses and shuttles which connect to major
transportation hubs.
The infrastructure caters to the learning needs of the
students of today for becoming successful business
executives of tomorrow. Each student has access to
technological facilities that match extremely exacting
standards. The digital library, EBSCO and ProQuest,
allows students access to innumerable international
and national journals and papers. Software such as
Capital Line allows students to access and analyse
financial data pertaining to companies, stock markets,
etc., giving them a real life experience of this field of
management. Over 75 computers in the computer lab
are available for the use of our students so that they can
prepare reports and presentations with ease. The
Computer Lab is equipped with latest computing
software like EVIEWS, SPSS, Microsoft Navigation etc to
develop analytical and computing skills. The library, one
of the best in Eastern India has a vast array of books on
every managerial subject. Both these facilities, the
computer lab and the library, are open till late at night
for the convenience of students.
The large state-of-art auditorium is used for addressals,
guest lectures, workshops and cultural and social
events. It is also where we host our very prestigious
Orientation Programmes and is the place where the
students are initiated into the ISB&M way of life.
The building has its own cafeteria and gym and our
students have access to both. The gym is popular with
the students providing them with an opportunity both
to exercise and relax.

Discipline and
Code of Conduct

Carry Identity Card all the time.

Switch off mobile phones in the classrooms, library, computer labs and in academic activities.

Maintain silence in the corridors - inside and outside the classrooms.

Attend all lectures, tutorials and extracurricular and cocurricular activities regularly.

Read notice board regularly.

Use library and computer labs during your free time.

Do not spoil and disfigure library books.

Avoid writing /scribbling on the walls, chairs and tables in the classrooms and labs.

Keep the campus neat and clean.

Cooperate with institute authorities in maintaining the lawns and gardens.

Switch off lights, fans and ACs while not in use.

Respect others' independence.

Not to indulge in rude and indecent behavior with the faculty, staff and students.

Observe self-discipline and punctuality.

Report to the Director in case of exigency.

To wear Formals dress /college uniform as and when desired by the institute.

Take prior approval of the Director/Academic Chairperson for remaining absent.

Smoking, consumtion of drugs and alchoholic drinks are prohibited in the campus.

Ragging in any form is prohibited in the college. Ragging is illegal and a criminal offence under law. For a reported case
of ragging, it is mandatory to initiate disciplinary process and also report the same to the Police. Students are to refrain
from any kind of ragging, it will be considered as gross indiscipline.

Reservation of Rights
The Management of International School of Business & Media reserves the right to change policies, systems and

Mentoring and Career Counselling


Counselling every student of ISB&M will be assigned to G G T (Guide, Guardian cum Tutor) who will assist and guide the
