Basic Lessons for a Prophet

Lesson 1: Deep Repentance

Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God
(Matthew 5:8).

A prophet is a servant of God that keeps the Lord’s

interests at heart. He hears the Lord’s voice and
speaks the word of the Lord to His people. He also
hears the cries of the people and brings them
before the Lord. He remembers the promises of
God to His people and reminds the Lord of them.
He is a watchman that warns the people against
impending dangers. He also lives in different time
frames admonishing the people to prepare
themselves for a visitation from God. He is a
foundational ministry that is occupied in the
building of the house of the Lord. He is totally sold
out to the Lord in giving himself to the Lord, firstly
in prayer and then to search out His word and will
in meditation on the word and waiting on the Lord –
always ready in season and out of season with a
word from God (Acts 6:4).

The prophet is humble, filled with hope and vision.

He is like an eagle that lives in the high blue skies
with sharp vision that sees to the end of far
horizons. He is filled with faith and resolve,
relentless in his passion for the kingdom of God,
always concerned about his Father’s business,
always abounding in the work of the Lord. His
testimony is that the fire of the Father’s love in his
heart, for the Father’s own, has never diminished.
His ways is filled with mercy, grace and truth.

The prophet knows that the mantle of humility is

the highest rank in the kingdom of God because it
clothed him with the grace of God. As long as he is
humble no power in heaven or earth can stand
before him. Everyone in heaven and hell recognizes
the mantle of humility. To be a king in the kingdom
of God you need to be a servant. The way up is the
way down.

The way to ascend to the throne is to serve others

in unselfish love and honor. Christ’s nobility and
truth is manifested in faith and humility that is
worked by love. Godly sincerity is faith, not
mechanics without the Lord’s presence, which will
not accomplish anything. It is not what you do but
what you are in your spirit that ministers life or
death. The substance of humble love that the
cross of Christ worked in you ministers fulfillment to
God, others and the earth that you serve. Dead
works, accomplish nothing as they are standing
independently from Christ.

Why do you need to know what a prophet is? From

the beginning God had it in mind that the church of
the Lord Jesus Christ should be the prophetic voice
of God in the earth, which is true Christianity. The
house of the Lord in the latter days, which is now,
will take on a prophetic character and the divine
family spirit of the Father will prevail. Although the
church has a prophetic character, it does not mean
that everybody is a prophet. However, all have
some prophetic characteristics and gifts in their
spirits because the church is the prophetic voice of
God. The divine family spirit will prevail in these
last days, which is the love of the Father. Deep
repentance is the tool the Holy Spirit uses to shape
us into the will of the Father.

Repentance is more than a change of one’s mind

but a change of heart for the better that results in
heartily amended ways with abhorrence of one’s
past sins, carnal ways and ways of offence.
Repentance through faith is the training ground for
the mighty army of the Lord that will walk the earth
in these last days before His coming to rule and
reign on earth. The last epic battle of the ages has
already begun.

We already see how the church of the Lord Jesus

Christ in the United States of America and the rest
of the world is falling victim to a demonic
onslaught. Presently we observe in the social,
economical and political arenas demonic inspired
bills that are passed by Congress to bring the
people of the United States and other countries of
the world into bondage. Deception and the
resulting darkness are increasing in the world. Evil
men hastily set the stage for a one world
government that will mean the end of the world as
we know it today. Now is the time to regain ground
that we have lost to the enemy of our souls over a
period of many decades. However, this is a joyful
occasion. When we see creation groaning, rebelling
against the destroyers of the earth, we know our
salvation has drawn nigh. Now is the time that
every individual believer in the Church of the Lord
Jesus Christ, which is the prophetic voice of God,
takes their stand for the truth in an
uncompromising way.

The victory will be achieved as Christ is formed in

us. A new commandment I give you, that you love
one another; as I have loved you, that you also love
one another (John 13:34). By knowing the love of
the Father, Christ is formed in us and we start
flowing as a family. When the world will see this
love they will know that we are the disciples of the
Lord. Their love hunger souls will yearn for this love
and for the integrity and purity of the family spirit
that will prevail in the house of the Lord. It will
result in the ingathering of God’s great harvest at
the end of this age. Repentance is all about being
shaped into the image of Christ, which is the
preparation to stand in the day of evil and for the
great ingathering of the harvest of souls.
Repentance is a reconciliation process. Firstly, the
Holy Spirit places a vision in your heart concerning
the calling of God on your life. That is your spiritual
identity in Jesus Christ, the way God sees you
through the blood of His Son. Then the Holy Spirit
convicts you of the error of your heart by showing
you how far you differ from where you suppose to
be. And He said to him, “What are you doing here,
Elijah? (1 Kings 19:9b). Then the Lord gives you
grace by turning the vision of your heart into hope.
Hope is a vision with an expectation of fulfillment.
Through faith, fixing your focus on Jesus, you
convert your vision of hope into substance.

If you are only going to dream about your vision

and do nothing about it, it will only remain a dream.
The Lord will judge you according to the light you
have received. The deception of many is that
they assume that if they have revelation or a
vision of hope that it is fulfillment.
Presumption is Satan’s version of faith. When God
will judge His house, His people will learn the
difference between faith and presumption. Those
who hear the Lord’s voice and open up to Him and
then act in faith toward Him will sit with Him at His
table. They will also sit with Him on His throne.
Presumption cannot sit with Him at His table, nor
on His throne. Presumption is the pride of Satan’s
own heart that he transferred into the heart of
Adam. Presumption is the deception of the pride of
the heart of stone, which cause you to disobey the
voice of the Lord of glory.

When the Lord judges He does not take sides but

establishes righteousness and justice in the earth.
And Joshua went to Him and said to Him, “Are You
for us or for our adversaries?” So He said, No, but
as Commander of the army of the Lord I have now
come” (Joshua 5:13b-14a). His righteousness and
justice are the foundation of His throne.
When the Lord judges you, He strips you of every
hidden thought. When you relax and accept it, it
will cleanse your soul and you will become
profoundly liberating. Not to hide anything is to
take off the heaviest yoke and shackles. It is to
experience the breath of heaven.

When Adam transgressed and the Lord enquired of

Adam where he was it was not because the Lord
did not know where he was but He asked this
question for Adam’s sake. When man sinned God
immediately started His search for man. It was
God’s search for man and not Adam’s search for
God. This question was the beginning of God’s
search for man, the introduction of His redemption
plan. The question was for Adam to determine
where he was in relationship to God. When man
knows where he is in relationship to God, he will be
fully restored in Him. Man can only know the
answer to this question when he is in the presence
of God.

The essence of the judgment experience of the

redeemed is to know where we are in relationship
to God. The Lord knows everything about our
circumstances and the condition of our hearts. For
our sakes we need to know where we are in
relationship with Him. The purpose of this question
is to bring us out of hiding; to bring us out of the
darkness of the deception of our carnal hearts into
the light of His truth. This will be accomplished
when we shift our focus from ourselves toward the
Lord. When we behold ourselves we are imprisoned
by the deception of our own hearts where cover-
ups exist because of the prevailing darkness of our
deceptive hearts. The heart (seat of our feelings
and intellect) is deceitful above all things, and
desperately wicked (incurable sick); who can know
it (Jeremiah 17:9). When we turn to the Lord by
focusing on Him the veil of deception is taken away
and we start observing where we are in relationship
to Him. When we focus on Him we enter into His
presence.

The Lord judges because He desires to be one with

His people and He rather emphasizes that which
must be reconciled to Him than differences
between good and evil. The Lord desires infinitely
more for His creation to be reconciled to Him than
His creation’s desire to be reconciled to Him. His
judgments are liberating both for the redeemed
and for all of His creation. The judgments of the
Lord are true and righteous altogether.

On judgment day whatever you have spoken in the

dark will be heard in the light, and what you have
spoken in the ear in inner rooms will be proclaimed
on the housetops (Luke 12:3). This will deliver man
finally from his hiding place. Creation will also
finally be liberated from bondage due to Adam’s
sin. The darkness in the world was perpetuated by
the compulsion to hide since Adam’s transgression.
To walk in the light is more than just knowing and
obeying certain truths – it is being true and free
from the compulsion to hide. Walking in the light
means no more hiding from God or anyone else. It
is to have and maintain an upright spirit before God
and man. The judgments of God call for deep
repentance. To turn your focus on the Lord is to
approach the life, light and truth that are Him. To
focus on Him is to repent.

Repentance is the quickest way to propel you into

the obedience of faith. When you focus on Him you
see the path of life. Perpetual repentance is the
only shortcut into the fulfillment of your calling in
God. Obedience hasten fulfillment but the
disobedience of an evil unbelieving heart delay
your destiny in God. The just shall not live through
hope alone but through faith converting the vision
of their hope into substance. Knowledge does not
equal fulfillment but the obedience of faith. Deep
repentance is not only the way to come to Christ for
salvation but also the way to know Him in the
power of His cross and the glory of His resurrection.
If you continue long enough on the way to seek to
know Him both as Lamb of God and Lion of Judah
you will come to know and experience both the
kindness and severity of God. In deep repentance
you are introduced to the Righteous Judge but it
takes more to know Him as Righteous Judge.

The real issue is what is in the human spirit, what

things have conditioned man’s mind. Man was born
in sin and shaped in unrighteousness. The whole
life of unredeemed man is shaped through his
carnal nature according to the lust of his flesh, the
lust of his eye and the pride of life. If he persists in
his evil ways, he eventually takes on the images
and likenesses of the demons that are ruling and
manipulating his existence. When he comes to
Christ the power of the evil one over him is broken
through the blood of the Lamb. In some cases
drastic deliverance of addictions, harmful, bad and
offensive habits occur in the life of the convert.
Some born again experiences seem unspectacular
with little flair of emotion and change yet it
happens through faith. Faith is that which moves
the heart of God. Do not be deceived because
these so called “unspectacular” born again
experiences is just as important to the Lord as the
dramatic born again experience of the apostle Paul.
Heaven rejoices over every soul that comes to
Christ. When I came to Christ, I only discover the
next day that I was born again.

When you are born again your spirit become alive

to God and because you are joined to the Lord
Jesus Christ you have become one spirit with Him.
However, your body is still dead because of sin and
your soul is still in enmity of God because of the
transgression. You still walk according to the flesh
in most areas of your life, which you need to place
under the guidance and ruling of the Holy Spirit.
This is why you need to repent. Repentance is a
way of life, a state of your spirit, to co-operate with
the Holy Spirit to bring you into the image of God’s
beloved Son. Repentance is not a one-off
experience or sporadic experiences but a perpetual
process, which is an integral part of spiritual
growth. Without perpetual repentance there is no
constant spiritual growth. But we all, with unveiled
face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord,
are being transformed into the same image from
glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord (2
Corinthians 3:18). When you see revelation you
must immediately act on it in faith otherwise you
will not be transformed into the same image. When
you cease to focus on the Lord your heart fail you
with fear and you sink into the sea of unbelief just
like Peter did when he took his eyes of the Lord. For
indeed the gospel was preached to us as well as to
them; but the word which they heard did not profit
them, not being mixed with faith in those who
heard it (Hebrews 4:2). There is some word that
you can appropriate by faith and walk in it
immediately but there is also word that you need to
mature into in time.

What you have become in Christ or the junk that is

in you, because of a lack of Christ’s image in you, is
the substance that you impart to others. You can
only give what you have - life or death. You cannot
give what you do not possess. You must open your
heart to whatever the Holy Spirit wants to work in
you to make you pure according to God’s standard
and not your own imperfect standard. Only the pure
in heart will see God. Without holiness no one will
see the Lord. How can you see or hear Him who
dwells in the Spirit if you do not set the focus of
your heart to see and hear Him. If you want to
observe somebody you need to be in his or her
presence. If you want to observe God you must
discipline your heart and spirit to dwell where God
dwells. If you wish to experience God you need to
discipline your spirit to dwell in God’s presence. If
you persist in faith in all patience and perseverance
you will soon become aware of the realm of Spirit,
which is also called heaven. Over time you will
realize that heaven is more real than the natural
realm. It is so real that for the spiritual man there is
no division between heaven and earth. In the
Spirit there is no division but only the
oneness of God’s perfection. Do you believe it?
Divisions and separations occur only in the carnal
mind that dwells in the natural realm where death
reigns. As long as you live a carnal life my words
will not make sense to you. However, I promise you
that the life that I am talking about is available to
you right now. You only need to grow into it
through persistent and constant faith. I know it
because I experience it every day of my life. My
growing process is ongoing because perpetual
repentance is part of my being, an integral part of
my relationship with God. It is not easy but the
more you exercise faith the easier your walk in the
Spirit becomes.

When your heart is focused on yourself and on the

things of this world you are captured by the tree of
knowledge of good and evil which is in your
deceptive heart of unbelief. The tree of the
knowledge of good (legalism) and evil (lawlessness)
captured you and imprisoned you in the natural
realm, the realm of the flesh. Unless you live in the
Spirit, by a constant focus on Him, you will not
sense the Lord who lives in the Spirit or sense
heavenly things. You will only experience the things
in the environment of your dwelling. Behold, You
desire truth in the inward parts, and in the hidden
part You will make to know wisdom (Psalms 51:6).
Spiritual purity alone makes you to know heavenly
wisdom. The first step to know the voice of the
Lord is to seek a pure heart and an undefiled
life. This is to walk in the transparency of
truth before God and man.

What is it to walk in light? How do you do it? Jesus

taught us about the light within. No one, when he
has lit a lamp, puts it in a secret place or under a
basket, but on a lampstand, that those who come
in may see the light. The lamp of the body is the
eye. Therefore, when your eye is good, your whole
body also is full of light. But when your eye is bad,
your body also is full of darkness. Therefore take
heed that the light which is in you is not darkness.
If then your whole body is full of light, having no
part dark, the whole body will be full of light, as
when the bright shining of a lamp gives you light
(Luke 11:33-36).

When a lamp shines it can only give light. The lamp

of the body is the focus of the eye. When your eye
is focused on God who alone is good, your whole
body is filled with the light of His goodness. When
you remember what Jesus has done on the cross for
you, only trust in Him can fill your heart and spirit.
Condemnation and lies disappear and love and
adoration for His majesty on high fills your whole
being. All that you behold is the mercy and grace
that God bestows on you because of the total
sacrifice of our beloved Lord Jesus Christ. All that
you see is the open inviting arms of the Father and
expressions of love for Him conquer your entire
being. All that you are aware of is His presence in
you which is the light of your spirit. When I think of
people that I know who have a supernatural focus
on the Lord four people came to mind.

The first man is an apostle that went on to join the

cloud of witnesses. When I approach this man many
years ago, in November 1976, this man being five
yards from me I sensed a deep brokenness of the
Lord that came over me. The second man was
somebody that suffered severely for his faith in a
Romanian jail. Because of his suffering, God worked
a sweetness in his spirit, like honey which I also
sensed. A friend of mine who also maintaining an
extraordinary intense focus on the Lord has a
velvety softness in his spirit toward the Lord which I
have never sensed in any other person I have ever
met. My sister is most probably the person with the
greatest focus on the Lord that I have ever met.
Circumstances cannot wear her down. Her family
went through some of the greatest recurring
financial problems one can imagine and her
husband, who uses to be a competitor in national
body building competitions, is suffering severe
health problems. A number of people have notice a
divine glow in her body, the light of God in her, at
numerous occasions. Lately a woman, not knowing
the Lord, was telling her, “You have a glow in you.”
My sister told her, “You must be mistaken.“ She
said, “No, you are glowing.” My sister replied, “No,
it is not me that you see but the Shining One in me
that you see.” All I am trying to tell you is that the
light in us is no theory but it is a reality that can be
sensed and observed in the spiritual realm.

You must have faith in God to bring to pass your

vision of hope. You must learn to express faith, with
the emphasis on patience and perseverance, until
love flows from your heart like a river. Love is
always the ultimate test of your faith. This is the
secret of secrets to start hearing the voice of
the Lord. This is different, because you need
to make a paradigm shift from church age
thinking into thinking and doing in the realm
of the kingdom age. The experiences in the
kingdom age, that is dawning upon us now, is vast
different in glory from the past experiences of the
church age on which the sun is setting now. It is not
about new things, but a change of heart that view
all things differently. To the pure all things are
pure, but to those who are defiled and unbelieving
nothing is pure; but even their mind and
conscience are defiled (Titus 1:15). You observe
and perceive the same things differently with a
clean and pure heart. The things that you behold
will become much clearer and will seem more
beautiful in glory, not because things have changed
but because you have changed.
Forget about your experiences of yesterday and
today and reach in to the freshness of a new day
that is dawning now on us. The sons of God will rule
a thousand years with the King in His kingdom on
earth. It will necessitate a time of preparation for
this glorious occasion. For thus were the days of
their preparation apportioned: six months with oil
and myrrh, and six months with perfumes and
preparation for beautifying women (Esther 2:12b).
This was a preparation process for Esther. She was
changed from what she was in her body to what
King Ahasuerus desires.

We have excess to the throne of grace every

moment of our lives because of the sacrifice and
merits of our Lord Jesus Christ. Though, we have
received everything as a provision, we need to
appropriate the excellence of His glory though faith
because it is written, “The just shall live through
their faith.” After being born again we need to
change from our carnal ways to what God desires –
the image of His beloved Son.

Esther, firstly, had bodily treatment with oil and

myrrh. The Hebrew word for oil means fat or
fatness as in, “and the yoke of Israel is broken
because of fatness,” a metaphor taken from a fat
bull that casts off and break the yoke
(Deuteronomy 32:15; Hosea 4:16). In this context
the oil refers to the anointing of the Holy Spirit that
breaks the yoke of bondage. It is the bondage of
flesh that prevents you to live a life with God in the
Spirit. In your experience with the Lord you need to
establish a relationship with the Holy Spirit. The
Holy Spirit is the one that birthed you a new
creature and raises you on “Her” knee before
introducing you to the Father through Jesus Christ
our Lord. The Holy Spirit is the One that guide you
and lead you to be conformed to the image of
Christ and teaches you in the ways of being a son
to the Father. For as many as are led by the Spirit
of God, these are sons of God (Romans 8:14).
Believe me, to be led by the Spirit of God is not
“ten steps to be led by the Spirit of God” but it
starts and end with a relationship with the Spirit of
God. Without a deep relationship with precious
Holy Spirit your whole journey on earth is doomed
to failure. Believe me, this is one of the greatest
truths in the kingdom of God.

Myrrh is a bitter gum, of sweet smell, and valuable,

which was used in incense. As an antiseptic it was
used in embalming. The Greek word for myrrh is
Smyrna, an Ionian city, on the Aegean Sea, about
40 miles North of Ephesus. The church in Smyrna is
a picture of those that suffer with Christ that they
may rule with Him. Myrrh is a bitter gum, a picture
of suffering, testing and tribulation, which produces
faithfulness until death that is sweet smelling
incense before God and valuable to Him. And to the
angel of Smyrna write, “These things says the First
and the Last, who was dead, and came to life: I
know your works, tribulation, and poverty (but you
are rich); and I know the blasphemy of those who
say they are Jews and are not, but are a synagogue
of Satan. Do not fear any of those things which you
are about to suffer. Indeed, the devil is about to
throw some of you into prison, that you may be
tested, and you will have tribulation ten days. Be
faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of
life. “He who has an ear, let him hear what the
Spirit says to the churches. He who overcomes
shall not be hurt by the second death” (Revelation
2:8-11).
