DESCRIPTION AND OBJECTIVES OF COURSE


Prerequisites: Required of all business majors as a summative course in the major.
Capstone course; students bring to bear all the experience of their study in aspects of business
administration to analyze central problems of for profit and not for profit enterprises and the
application of strategic management in the development and exercise of business policy.

Discuss and analyze the complexity of the organization and policy formulation by management
within the public and private sectors.
Evaluate organizational situations, problems and opportunities in terms of managerial strategy.
Identify the central problem of an organization in textbook and real-life situations.
Develop alternative strategies and problem-solving scenarios.
Understand the interrelationship of internal and external environment and the organization.
Conceptualize policy from various perspectives.
Illustrate that in oral/written work the School of Business Goals are integrated.

HOW THE COURSE WILL OPERATE:


The purpose of this course is to integrate what you have learned in the business administration
major and show, through a summative case prepared, the application of student knowledge.
There are nine (9) chapters to read from our text and they will show you what types of things
need to be analyzed in any business. Then the latter part of the textbook has cases from which
you will select one and perform a complete analysis. The Discussion Board will be used
throughout the course to discuss strategic issues..

As you can see I am having you present your case to Dr. Kaup the week of November 10th.
Each student will prepare a presentation of the case highlights to the class using the necessary
technology. The complete case will then, after Dr. Kaup makes suggestions for improvement, sent to
me as an email attachment.
Make sure that all work is done in your words and not copied from other sources.

from me. Do ORIGINAL WORK. Make sure that you give credit to work sited when it is not your
own material.
