Installation
1. If updating to a newer version, delete C:\Drafting\Custom\AutoIO folder and replace with
\\usnr.com\data\Eng\SA\AutoCAD\Custom\AutoIO Tools\AutoIO.
If installing for the first time simply copy
\\usnr.com\data\Eng\SA\AutoCAD\Custom\AutoIO Tools\AutoIO folder to
C:\Drafting\Custom\.
2. Open any drawing in AutoCAD.
3. Drag and drop the AutoIO Setup.lsp file onto the drawing window. Two buttons might be
somewhere on your window and you can place them wherever you please. If these are not
present right click the gray area of your toolbar and select the custom->toolbar.
4. Make sure C:\Drafting\Custom\AutoIO\Lisp\LoadAutoIO.lsp is added to the Startup Suite by
typing appload in the command window, pressing enter, and checking the Startup Suite
contents. If it is not already there add it using the finder.
5. Reopen any drawing, all necessary files should load on startup.
Requirements
To use AutoIO, you first have to make sure your IO excel sheet is formatted correctly:
1. Make sure all sheets are named after the console they represent followed by RACK and IO
(everything should be capitalized). Sheet name examples: C1M1 RACK, C1M1 IO
2. In the IO sheet, make sure all slots that do not have inputs/outputs have ControlLogix.0 as the
first address for that slot in column A.
3. The H and I columns should have no contents.
Using AutoIO
1. In Excel:
After making sure your IO sheet is formatted correctly, add symbol names (following
naming convention provided in blocks folder) to column H. If a symbol requires several
inputs/outputs, only add the symbol name to the first input/output and leave the other
rows empty.
To specify a lamp color add a space and letter of the color to the symbol name in
column H (ie LAMP G or LAMPWR G)
To populate correct references, add a number to column I of the input and output
symbols containing references. Using the same number for an input and output allows
the program to recognize that they are referencing each other.
Example:
2. Open a drawing (if opening a template make sure to delete all layouts after sheet 09).
3. Select the
icon in your toolbar, provide the necessary information, and press ok.
Repeated use
You can run the AutoIO tool numerous times to update IO descriptions and symbols.
Additional module layouts will be added if layouts do not yet exist for that slot.
Adding Symbols
When creating new symbols, place symbols in the Custom Symbols folder. This folder is on
the network so that everyone can share their new symbols. Also update the -Symbol
Schematic- drawing in the same folder to keep an up to date reference of all symbols.
