Foreword
Many people are now looking for help from traditional Chinese medicine. They are,
for example, patients of chronic diseases which have been diagnosed as to be without
any radical cure; patients whose diseases have been diagnosed to be extremely serious
and who hope to find another way out in traditional Chinese medicine; patients who
do not want to undergo surgical operations and wish to be subjected to some
conservative treatment; and patients who are convalescing in hospital after surgical
operation or after being hospitalized and who choose traditional Chinese medicine as
auxiliary treatment or for health-care purposes. There are other people, who are of the
opinion that traditional Chinese medicines can be used forregulation of their bodies
and they hope to take herbal drugs for routine health care so as to improve their
individual constitutions.
This book is designed not only to make you get in the easiest way possible a concise
and systematic knowledge of traditional Chinese medicine but also to recommend to
you ready-made traditional Chinese medicines which are easily available. On the
basis of these ready-made Chinese medicines a number of health-care programs have
been devised for your benefit. In these programs diseases are classified according to
the nomenclature used in Western medicine so as to make the programs easier to
consult for those people who are not acquainted with traditional Chinese medicine.
This book is not only suitable for collection by common readers, but also worthy of
reading by people of the medical profession.
If you visit www.sldint.com to download this ebook in PDF format in the User Center
after register, this book is not only practical but also vivid in color, rich and
magnificent in both pictures and language. In the book there are quite a number of
classical pictures of immense academic value pertaining to the realm of traditional
Chinese medicine, including a set of fourteen exquisite pictorial illustrations of
channels and collaterals of the human meridian system.

Origin of TCM
In the course of development of human civilization there have appeared four
traditional medical systems. Apart from the traditional Chinese medicine, there were
Egyptian, Roman, and Indian medical systems. However, the latter three traditional
medical systems gradually declined until they became extinct, with only individual
prescriptions having survived by being scattered and preserved among the
populations.
The method of thinking is of paramount importance as the basis and norm of
behaviour in the development of every field of natural science. So, TCM has a close
relationship with Chinese classical philosophy.

Interpretation of Terms of TCM
*Yin and Yang
1. The theory of Yin and Yang in traditional Chinese medicine is the product of
combination of the ancient Chinese dialectical method of thinking and the rich
experience gained in traditional medical work. Yin and Yang constitute not only an
important component part of the basic theory of traditional Chinese medicine but also
an instrument for summing up its clinical experience. This means that the view on
unity of opposites as shown in the relation between Yin and Yang and also about
decline and growth and about mutual transformation between the opposites Yin and
Yang was used to explicate the relation between man and nature and to generalize a
series of questions in the field of medicine.
2. The implications of Yin and Yang:Yang(Masculine)---pushing into motion, playing
the leading role, and being immovable in determination. In traditional Chinese
medicine, Yangrepresents the functional activities of organs, the external defense, and
the firm internal protection of Yin essence.Yin(Feminine) ---keeping to the faith,
tending to agree and accept, and being flexible and compliant. In traditional Chinese
medicine, Yin represents the conservation and storage of material substances, the
source of the vital energy of Yang. For example, in the distinction between the two
sexes, the male is Yang and the female is Yin.
*Description of symptoms
1.Yang deficiency:This term refers to inadequacy of vital energy. Clinical
manifestations are: hands and feet lacking warmth , body prone to sweat on all
occasions, stool being very wet and shapeless, urine being colorless, lips being light in
color, and mouth feeling flat and insipid.
2.Yin deficiency: This term refers to inadequacy of body fluids. Clinical
manifestations are: Feeling the two palms and two soles hot in the centers, having
subjective consciousness of some annoying heat in the bosom, suffering a hectic fever
in the early afternoon, going about constantly with reddened lips and feeling the
mouth dry, and haunted by the excretion of dry and hardened stool.
*Nomenclature
1.Pulmonary Yin--- fluid of the lungs, produced by chemical combination of the
essence of water and grain with renal fluid. This pulmonary Yin is complementary to
what is called the pulmonary qi, which is its opposite and might well be called
pulmonary Yang as it represents vital energy.
2.Kidney Yin-also called renal fluid or genuine fluid, is no other than the fluid of the
renal organ (including the essence of life, which the renal organ contains). It is called
kidney Yin as it is counterposed to kidney Yang, the vital energy, and serves as the
material basis on which kidney Yang performs its functional activities. Kidney Yin
hasthe effect of nourishing and moistening various viscera and hollow organs of the
human body.
*The term qi
1. Denotes minute particles of material, rich in nutrition and circulating around the
body, e.g. the qi of water and grain.
2. Denotes the active power of viscera, e.g. the qi of the five internal organs.
In clinical work, when the term qi is used, it most probably denotes a symptom or
symptoms of some disorder of the viscera, e.g. The qi of the liver offends the
stomach.
Heart (--: heart storing spirit and governing blood and vessels;
Lung -- : lung governing qi,storing inferior spirit; lung connecting all
vessels;
Liver-: liver controlling conveyance and dispersion;
liver governing ascending and dredging;
Spleen-:spleen governing movement and transformation;
spleen being acquired foundation;
spleen governing ascending clear;
spleen controlling blood;
spleen governing limbs;
spleen governing muscles;
Kidney--:
kidney governing storage;
i
kidney governing reproduction;
kidney governing water metabolism;
kidney governing bones;
2.The term hollow organ generally denotes an organ in the abdomen which is hollow
inside and has a cavity, performing the function of receiving, storing, transporting and
transforming water and grain.
The six hollow organs comprise: gallbladder, stomach, bowels, intestines, (urinary)
bladder and the three visceral cavities (which house the internal organs). The three
visceral cavities are passages for the circulation of water and grain and vital energy.
Note: The terms spleen (i.e. the explanation of the term) and three visceral cavities are
unique and specific to traditional Chinese medicine in its theory of the five internal
organs and the six internal hollow organs.
For the latter purpose, traditional Chinese medicine classifies the internal organs
according to the properties of the five elements either by analogy or by deduction. To
be specific, the five organs i.e. Liver(, heart, spleen, lung
and kidney f f are considered to be equivalent to wood, fire, earth, metal and
water respectively. However, this linkage of the internal organs to the five elements is
not a matter of simple analogy. It has profound implications.
*Whatever pertains to wood has the property of being able to grow, become plentiful
and extend with ease in different directions;
*Whatever pertains to fire has the property of warming, heating and leaping up;
*Whatever pertains to earth has the property of implementing conveyance, receipt and
acceptance, and production and changes of things;
*Whatever pertains to metal has the property of cleaning, cutting down and
contracting;
*Whatever pertains to water has the property of cooling, moistening and moving
downward. Moreover, the five elements are related to each other in an intricate
manner, as is shown below.
*Salivary fluids :
This is the combination name of saliva and body fluids. It means the fluid in the
human body, which is produced by chemical transformation from the minute particles
of dietary water and grain.
*Causes of illness:
In ancient times the causes of illness were divided into three classes, namely
endogenous, exogenous and non-endo-non-exogenous factors.
1.Endogenous factors:
This denotes certain pathogenic factors which arise inside the human body and cause
illness, chiefly the condition of rise and fall of a persons healthiness,as is implied in
the common saying that If healthiness exists inside, evils cannot offend.(Whatever
is harmful to the human body is called in traditional Chinese medicine by the
generalizing term evil, that is pathogen) The term healthiness comprises in its
meaning both the physical constitution, the mental state and resistance to illness.
2.Exogenous factors:
This denotes the fact of being affected by certain pathogenic factors in the external
world (i.e. nature). Traditional Chinese medical scholars call these pathogenic factors
by the term external evils as well. Traditional Chinese medicine borrowed the names
of natural phenomena, such as wind, cold, summer, damp, dry, hot (fire)and their
characteristics to generalize the causes of all diseases resulting from interference in
the human body by external factors and also for use in the description of causes and
symptoms of various diseases, as shown below:
Wind: for showing that the symptom of a disease is migratory in its place of
occurrence and changeable in form, like wind.
Cold: for describing symptoms of deterioration of a function, e.g. running a fever,
having a painful joint, or having abdominal pain or diarrhea.
Fire(s): for describing symptoms which are manifestations of hyperfunctioning of
some organ(s) in the process of pathological variations and may be further divided
into two categories, i.e. substantial fires and deficiency fires.
Substantial fires are due mostly to rampancy of disease evils and in the majority of
cases are manifested as high fevers, heavy sweating, and propensity to fly into a
temper.
Deficiency fires are due mostly to deficits in body fluids and are found principally in
chronic wasting diseases, manifesting themselves in the majority of cases as feeling
worried unnecessarily and lying in bed sleepless, or having seminal emissions at
night, often with dreams.
Damp: for describing obstacles to the performance of the function of transport and
transformation of food in the body, often seen as joint pain, muscular pain, poor
appetite or a sensation of suppression in the chest.
Dry: for indicating a person being affected by dryness and suffering loss of salivary
fluids in such a way that this loss is transformed into heat and fire. The symptoms are
seen in the majority of cases as red eyes, swollen gums, sore throat or dry coughs.
3.Non-endo-non-exogenous factors:
This term denotes a category of illness the causes of which are obvious by themselves
consisting chiefly in hunger or surfeit, the persons house or room being not sanitary,
an injury or wound resulting from a fall or from a beating, or having been bitten by an
insect or an animal.
******
also on the invisible energy qi, which may also be represented as the functional
activities of viscera such as the kidneys, expressed traditionally as the kidney qi.
The term qi denotes additionally mans vital energy, which is the life-power.
6.
10. Why does TCM emphasize replenishing the body fluids and
nourishing the kidneys?
The meaning of the word kidney in traditional Chinese medicine transcends by far in
scope that of the kidney as a visceral structure in modern medicine. In traditional
Chinese medicine the kidney is given the title of "prenatal root source of the human
body". The so-called root source denotes the foundation of life.
The kidneys are responsible for storing the essence of life and transforming
corpuscular material. The five internal organs (heart, liver, spleen, lungs, and also the
kidneys) all depend on the kidneys for congenial warmth. Adequacy of the essence of
life in the kidneys and the glow of vitality of the kidneys are the basic guarantee of a
person's long life, perennial youthful looks and unfading appearance.
If the warming power of the kidneys is not adequate for providing congenial warmth
to the whole figure, then the body feels chilly, the limbs feel cold and the complexion
is pallid. If there is not enough essence of life in the kidneys to nourish the whole
body, then hair, both fine and gross, falls off, teeth shake, and the complexion withers
early. If there is a deficiency of essential body fluids in the kidneys, an internal heat
induced by that deficiency flares up inside the body and the cheeks are seen to
become abnormally red because of the hectic fever. If the deficiency-induced heat
dies down, then a water-induced cold becomes rampant inside and the complexion is
seen to be darkish. An ample supply of the essence of life in the kidneys is the cause
of hair being lustrous, while a deficiency of vital energy in the kidneys entails
albescence of hair, both fine and gross, and its shedding.
11. What should a person pay attention to when taking the herbal
medicines of the SANLIDA Company?
(1)
(2)
(3)
12. What is the main effect of each of the products supplied by the
SANLIDA Company?
I think you have already learned something of traditional Chinese medicine. So, Ill
explain to you the effects of these products from a professional angle.
Sanlida: It can activate blood and unblock collaterals in the human meridian system.
13. How is it that several herbal drugs mixed with each other can achieve
the purpose of health care and disease treatment?
Dont you see that in every city there are several people and organizations responsible
for running the city? They are the mayor, the grain and food bureau, the
communication bureau, etc. And there may also be an environmental sanitation
bureau.
The human body also requires several departments to keep it running. If things go
wrong with any one or some of them, the person will fall ill or descend into a
subhealthy condition. For example, if someone has got hypertension, then his/her
blood vessels may be obstructed somewhere. That is to say his/her blood vessels may
not be good for blood passage, or communication. In such a case, the scavenger
Safbrain is needed to remove the obstacles (serving as the communication bureau or
the environmental sanitation bureau). If the persons arteries or veins are not good
enough for microcirculation---a case which may be compared to a city with many
lanes blocked for passage of vehicles---then Sanlida is needed to break them through
(as if it were the communication bureau). If the patient of hypertension has a very
high level of cholesterol, a small amount of Gastility might best be used (in the
capacity of the environmental sanitation bureau) to expel as soon as possible from the
body all the rubbish that Safbrain has cleared out. Since the accumulation of
cholesterol and fat in the body is connected with the performance of the digestive
function, it is necessary to upgrade the overall transportation power of the digestive
system (the mayors duty in our allegory).
Administration of Ilextensor is for the purpose of reducing the blood pressure. The
taking of Toniyin in addition during a later stage is aimed at replenishment of energy
in the body and also for regulating spleen and stomach (performing the function of the
grain and food bureau).
What has been said above is no less than the method of treatment and regulation used
by traditional Chinese medicine, which has as its ultimate aim the restoration of
proper functioning to internal organs of the human body.
14. Why do a few individuals feel dizzy in the head and sore in the waist
and legs after taking the product?
Chinese traditional medical practitioners say, "If the channels are free for passage,
there will be no pain; if there is pain, the body channels are blocked." The SANLIDA
product has the effect of making the main and collateral channels of the body free for
passage and facilitating blood circulation. If pain appears in certain parts of the body
after SANLIDA is taken, that means the channels are not free and blood is silting up,
thereby testifying to the fact that the ingredients of the medicine have been absorbed
and are producing effect. It is necessary only to reduce the dosage by taking the
medicine every other day. The symptoms of discomfort will disappear in a week.
From the point of view of biochemistry, SANLIDA, having been taken, will produce
an enzyme in certain parts of the body, such as joints, the waist, and legs. The
organisms of most people can absorb this enzyme. So, there is no feeling of soreness
and pain. On the contrary, if the enzyme is not absorbed, soreness in the waist and
legs may be felt. This reaction, however, is entirely harmless.

TCM Health-care Regulation Program
***I Preservation of Health***
In accordance with the principle of correspondence between human beings and the
natural environment, traditional Chinese medicine holds the view that people, living
in an environment constituted by Nature, must accord well with the seasonal changes
in it, accommodating themselves in good time to such changes so as to keep the yin
and yang of their bodies in equilibrium and to ensure at the same time the harmonious
coexistence of their individual organisms with the external world so as to reach the
aim of preserving themselves in good health, lengthening their lifespans and attaining
longevity.
Disease arises from excessive employment. This is a maxim in the Classic of Internal
Medicine. It expresses an important view in the etiology of traditional Chinese
medicine and also a fundamental principle in the science of health preservation. It
tells us that in order to be healthy and long-lived people must pay attention to the need
of doing work and taking rest both in moderate amounts, because the incidence of a
number of diseases is due to engaging in labor, indulging in drinking and eating or
doing physical or mental exercises in amounts in excess of normal limits.
* Preservation of health in spring and summer
In summer, because of the sweltering hot weather, which is often so oppressive as to
lead to excessive escape of the bodys internal energy reserved for evolvement and
performance of functional activities or, owing to accumulation of pathogenic cold in
the body caused by overindulgence in cold drinks and cold foods for the sake of
lowering the body temperature in order to prevent heat strokes, the energy inside the
body to be used for functional activities will wane and become deficient. Therefore,
one of the principles for preservation of health in traditional Chinese medicine
formulated to suit the needs of different times of the year is conserving energy for
functional activities in spring and summer. For this reason, those people who live or
work in an air-conditioned environment for long hours a day or engage excessively in
outdoor sports will have the need to take Gui Pills and Inwarmer for the sake of their
health.
*Preservation of health in autumn and winter
Preserve nutrients in the body during autumn and winter. This dictum means that as
activities of all living things in the world subside during autumn and winter, people
who want to preserve their health should proceed according to the needs of the time.
They must protect the nutrients in the body by storing them up for the purpose of
nourishing the viscera with their conglomerated essence. Therefore, in autumn and
winter, it would be best to take Gui Pills and Toniyin.
sexual desire or they should take some diet supplement, so as to avoid too heavy a
drain on their strength.
*For men
Sanlida can strengthen the male psychic force and male reproductive system;
conserve the cerebrum, repair and regenerate the brain cells, naturally improve
memory; and radically enhance immunity so as to really attain the goal of nurturing
the kidney and achieving male enhancement, invigorating the brain, enhancing male
sexuality, retarding the aging process, prolonging life and boosting longevity.
People suited for SANLIDA:
1.All male adults who want to keep or improve their male sexuality.
2.Those who are prone to catch cold, to feel tired, to be sleepless, to be lethargic, or to
feel anxiety, which are caused by weakness and health impairment due to lowering of
immunity.
3.Those who suffer from male impotency, premature male ejaculation, degeneration
of sexual function, weakening of sexual desire, dissatisfaction with sexual life, or lack
of male orgastic pleasure.
4. Those who suffer from frequent or painful micturition caused by prostatic
hypertrophy and those who have sore and feeble back and knees and sweating hands
and feet.
5. Those who have hypertension, cerebral embolism or who have suffered apoplexy.
*For women
It is the dream of every female of the world to have a young and beautiful appearance
and a pair of full and round breasts.
Femegain is the ideal tonic of females. Speaking theoretically from the point of view
of traditional Chinese medicine, the development of breasts and the question whether
or not they are full and round are connected with the level of sufficiency or
inadequacy of the body's blood and vital energy. The chief merit of Femegain consists
in its ability to make all the channels and collaterals in the chest free for passage, to
replenish the human body with blood and vital energy, and to convey blood, vital
energy and nourishment to the breasts by means of targeting technology. Thus it can
not only promote the development of the common feminine bosom but also restore
substance and firmness to breasts that have fallen flat or even caved in.
Moreover, Femegain can help to regulate and nourish the body, postpone arrival of the
climacteric, resist the aging process and beautify the skin. Femegain also can prevent
catching cold.If a woman takes this product shortly after childbirth, she will have
plentiful freely-flowing milk.
*For Children's Health
From the angle of traditional Chinese medicine, the reason is that the internal organs
of a child is not strong enough, and insubordination of the lung meridian will entail
cough (Note: The term meridian means here the meridian syndrome, which is a
morbid condition), whereas fever is caused by hyperactivity of the ministerial fire and
insubordination of the gallbladder meridian (Note: The term fire is often used to mean
pathological manifestation of intense heat such as flushed face, bloodshot eyes or
acute local inflammation, resulting from excessive functional activities or immoderate
emotional influences, but here it means physiological energy of life; and the term
ministerial fire means the fire which originates in the kidney and is attached to the
liver and gallbladder, in contrast to the monarch fire, which comes from the heart).
Melloey can subdue the lung meridian and foster the generation of vital energy, and
Feales can subdue the ministerial fire and the gallbladder meridian, replenishing at the
same time the hepatic vital enregy on a large scale. Therefore, a child can have cough
and fever prevented and health improved by holding in mouth every day a few pieces
of the palatable Melloey and Feales. You must not belittle such a nibbling food. It is,
as a matter of fact, based on a classic prescription, and it has succeeded in curing
many people of their diseases.
Those people who have children in their homes should give them these products to
nibble between meals. In that case, swallowing bitter drugs and taking intravenous
injections can be dispensed with or rendered much less frequent.
*Reduction of weight
Obesity may be due to some causes connected with metabolism, endocrine disorders
and even habitual constipation. Anyhow, Salubry is the best choice for such
subhealthy people, who yearn for agility and general improvement of health. Gastility
can be taken for a certain period of time with Salubry for better effect.
*Relief from eyestrain
Eyestrain is caused most probably by intent contemplation of the TV screen for long
hours at a sitting each day, a habit which often dominates our life, with the result that
the frequency of blinking of our eyes is reduced and the secretion of tears is
correspondingly decreased in volume. These two generally unnoticed harmful
phenomena are worsened by strong flickering light darting from the TV screen. As the
eyeballs are connected with the liver, and the eyelids with the stomach and spleen,
traditional Chinese medicine resorts to nourishment of liver blood and the stomach
and spleen for relieving eyestrain. After taking Gui Pills and Toniyin for a certain
period of time the person who has constant eye fatigue will feel that he/she has been
perceptibly relieved of this annoying sensation.
*Withdrawal from alcoholism
Habitual excessive alcoholic consumption is extremely harmful. If an alcohol addict
wants to regain his health, he should first stop smoking and withdraw from
alcoholism. If he cannot pin his hope on his own willpower to attain this aim, he may
take Antialcoholic Wonder, Livermend and use Quick-quit Smoking Liquid and rest
assured that they can help him cut out drinking and smoking painlessly. Please visit
www.sldint.com for more details.
stuffed and running nose, sneezing, general aching, and floating and tense pulse.
Moreover, it can suppress a number of harmful bacteria.
*Fever
Fever is caused by hyperactivity of the ministerial fire and insubordination of the
gallbladder meridian. If a person has at first a headache, feels pain all over the body,
fears cold, and then, a little time later, runs a fever, he/she may do well to put a few
pieces of Feales in his/her mouth and drink some tepid water. The fever will naturally
subside with a little perspiration. However, if the person continues feeling cold even
though he/she is in fact febrile, or if he/she feels suppressed in the chest all the while,
he/she needs to keep in the mouth not only Feales but also Melloy simultaneously.
Strange to say, he/she will get the illness cured by so doing.
*Nasosinusitis
Traditional Chinese medicine treats this disease by using the method of activating
blood and resolving stasis, diminishing inflammation, and relieving pain. To achieve
these purposes, Aegiseme and Safbrain may be administered. Moreover, traditional
Chinese medicine also upholds the concept of treating one and the same disease by
different methods. A medical practitioner in addressing nasosinusitis may embrace
this way of treatment and thus implement internal-heat clearance and detoxication if
he finds that the patient has profuse purulent nasal discharges, so the patient should
take Spearlor. The result of treatment is generally highly satisfactory.
*Tonsillitis
The chief pathogenic bacterium of tonsillitis is hemolitic streptococcus Type B. In the
view of traditional Chinese medicine, nevertheless, acute tonsillitis is caused in most
cases by a struggle between wind and heat, resulting in a tie-up at the throat with
stagnation there of qi and blood. Therefore, the treatment should accomplish, as its
main task, heat clearance and detoxication so as to facilitate passage at the pharynx
and make the swelling subside. Melloey and Spearlor may be used for that therapeutic
purpose. If the illness is grave, Aegiseme and Safbrain may be added. As for chronic
tonsillitis of a general nature, all that is necessary is strengthening the patients
constitution, keeping the body comfortably warm and paying due attention to rest and
nutrition, so as to reduce the chances of acute aggravation. In such a case, Salubry
and Melloey may be taken and adequate measures adopted according to the needs of
the season to keep the bodys health well preserved.
*Common cold
Early in The Classic of Internal Medicine it was recognized that the common cold is
principally caused by external wind evil, and the principle of giving support to
healthiness and expelling the evil was put forward. The reader is expected to benefit,
in this respect, from a knowledge of the two principles by which traditional Chinese
medicine treats colds. They are given below.
For treatment of the common cold as well as colds induced by a seasonal epidemic,
traditional Chinese medicine adopts the principle of using exterior-releasing therapy
with pungent-powdered medicinals, by which the external evil factors are banished
and the persons healthiness is made safe and unmolested---to the effect that the cold
is cured. (Note: exterior releasing therapy: a general term for dispelling pathogenic
factors from the exterior of the body, commonly used in the treatment of exterior
syndromes; pungent-powdered medicinals: medicinals pungent in flavor and powder
in form).
People who are aged, who have weak constitutions, who are convalescing, or who are
women feeling weak soon after childbirth or usually frail in constitution may tend to
catch cold repeatedly or may have colds linger on in them as if endlessly. Their colds
seem to be somewhat different from the common cold of people in general. The
principle of treatment of very weak people for their common cold consists in laying
stress on strengthening healthiness and eliminating the pathogenic factors. In cases
where the gastrointestinal tract becomes encroached upon, the complications ought to
be dealt with by supplementary therapies of dampness resolution, stomach
harmonization, and vital-energy regulation.
We are glad to recommend to you here our product Coldcurer, which conforms with
the therapeutic principles described above, being based upon a prescription of
accurate composition for that purpose, and which, therefore, can be used to treat the
common cold of people in general and that variety of the common cold, so to speak,
which afflicts very weak people. In treating the common cold and other colds, it has
been shown to take effect very soon. The common cold (or any other cold) can be
cured in 2-3 days after administration of Coldcurer starts. Recrudescence is very rare,
as has been found.
The method of administration of Coldcurer is very simple:
1. When under attack of any cold, take Coldcurer 3 times a day at 2 pieces a time. If
the cold is complicated by a fever, take Feales in addition.
2. Those who have very weak constitutions need to take Coldcurer for a few more
days after the fit of the cold is over, at 2 times a day and 1-2 pieces a time, in order to
consolidate the therapeutic effect and strengthen their bodies. What is more, if the
person often takes Sanlida or Feales, he/she will not easily catch cold, for the simple
reason that people who are liable to fall prey to the common cold need to make
themselves healthier.
*Bronchitis
Chronic bronchitis is a disease that persists for a long time. As a persistent disease
inevitably causes deficiency in strength and vitality, most patients of chronic
bronchitis have constitutions of the deficiency-cold type, which is reflected by the fact
that their lungs, spleen and kidneys are all deficient in strength and vitality. In order
to make the lungs and kidneys srong again, administration of Kilimend and Melloey
are required; and for reinforcement of stomach and spleen and replenishment of the
body with vitality, Inwarmer is to be taken in addition in the morning and at noon, and
Toniyin to be taken both in the afternoon and in the evening.
*Asthma
Traditional Chinese medicine has a long experience of treating asthma, which dates
back almost two thousand years. It has a method of its own and a theory that forms
an independent system. Dialecticism is advocated. The peculiarity of the method and
of the theory consists in maintaining that during the period of an acute attack the
lungs are to be taken as the center of treatment and the purpose is to alleviate the
symptoms; that during the period of remission, the root cause of the disease is to be
tackled and the purpose is to cure the disease by taking the lungs, the spleen and the
kidneys as the focus of treatment or regulation, and that herbal medicines are to be
used to strengthen the spleen and tonify the kidneys, to stop coughing and calm
panting, to regulate breathing and remove phlegm, so as to reach the aim of sustaining
the healthy force of the body, banishing the evil force of illness, strengthening the
constitution, and raising the resistance of the body.
*Pneumonia
There are quite a number of pathogenic agents that can invade the respiratory tract
and cause pneumonia. Traditional Chinese medicines may be adopted at a later stage
of treatment of the disease as the principal means for regulation to enable the patient
to regain his/her health at an early time. Spearlor may be taken for two weeks to
dispel the heat toxin in the lungs. Kilimend and Toniyin may be used after that for
rehabilitation and for strengthening immunity so as to consolidate the achievements of
treatment.
*Pulmonary tuberculosis
Pulmonary tuberculosis is called lung phthisis, or wasting away of the lungs, in
traditional Chinese medicine. At present, the anti-tuberculosis therapy of Western
medicine is exercising a decisive control over pulmonary tuberculosis. However,
when an ex-patient of pulmonary tuberculosis happens to have his/her immunity
lowered during a certain period, the surviving bacilli in the body are apt to resume
the burning, which is an important cause of the relapse of pulmonary tuberculosis.
Oral administration of some herbal products for regulation purposes can raise the
bodys immunity and play an important role in the prevention of relapse of pulmonary
tuberculosis. It is advisable to take Kilimend and Toniyin first and, for obtaining a
better effect, add to them Safbrain. Safbrain may be replaced by Inwarmer in 1-2
months, but administration of Kilimend and Toniyin is to be continued.
*Emphysema
Emphysema pertains to the realm of dyspnea syndrome in traditional Chinese
medicine, and advice has been offered to tackle the therapy in such a way as to accord
with the individual constitution of each patient and to give priority to the treatment of
those aspects of the disease which are urgent and call for immediate attention so as to
take full advantage of what is still healthy in the patients body and banish as soon as
possible all evil signs of the disease. Spearlor and Toniyin may be administered first,
and when the patients condition has become stable special attention should be paid to
the replenishment of the lung fluid and the kidney fluid, which are the nutrients, but
are usually called yin by the traditional medical profession. By that time, Kilimend
may be added and Spearlor suspended.
*Constipation
In treating constipation, traditional Chinese medicine depends on dialectical reasoning
and analysis to arrive at the correct diagnosis of the disease and on the principle of
seeking for the root cause of the disease to decide on the prescriptions and on the
individual medicinals to be used. The concrete treatment method is generally as
follows:
A .Those patients who have excess-fire (with symptoms shown as headache, fondness
for cold drinks when thirsty, irritability and restlessness, great difficulty in evacuation
of bowels, yellow-colored urine) need to have their bodies cleared of internal heat and
their bowels purged of feces. They should take Gastility first for two weeks, with
Spearlor at the same time. Each time take half caplet of Gastility for child between 13 years old.
B. Those patients who have deficiency-fire should have their body fluids increased to
moisten those parts of the body that are dry. They should be given small doses of
Gastility and requested to take Toniyin at the same time, each according to the
condition of his/her constitution.
A person who is habitually constipated needs to have his/her gastrointestinal
functioning adjusted. Toniyin and Salubry may be taken for a long time at the healthcare dosage. The disease thus cured will not tend to recrudesce for a long time to
come.
*Diarrhea
In traditional Chinese medicine, chronic diarrhea is called long diarrhea and classed
along with the syndrome of spleen insufficiency with damp retention. Administration
of Salubry and Inwarmer will have very good results.
Elderly patients of chronic diarrhea should be persuaded to go to hospital for
colonoscopy so as not to miss the chance of having a more serious disease discovered
and treated in time.
*Gastric ulcer
In order to get the gastric ulcer healed the patient must presevere in taking the proper
medicine for a long time, do his/her best to improve the function of digestive glands
and increase the defensive strength of the stomach mucosa, keep a relaxed state of
mind and observe strict regularity in dietary behavior. All these are of pivotal
importance.
*Colitis
This disease is not a local pathological change of the colon. Its main cause is lack of
vital energy in the spleen, which renders the spleen incapable of performing
vigorously its transporting and transforming function. During the time when the
disease is raging, it is necessary to clear the colon of heat toxin. Spearlor should be
taken for 2-4 weeks. A better effect may be achieved if Safbrain is taken in addition.
This is a method of the utmost efficacy, which combines the treatment of the spleen
resolve the phlegm, which should not be confused with sputum. Other medicines
recommended herein (take Inwarmer in the forenoon and Toniyin in the evening) may
also be given to the patient to adjust his vital energy and blood, to restore yin and
yang to equilibrium, and to strengthen his immunity.
*Senile dementia
Traditional Chinese medicine holds the view that senile dementia is closely connected
with abatement of the functional capability of the brains as well as with that of the
ability of the viscera to generate vital energy and blood through transformations.
What is more important in this respect is whether the kidneys are functioning
normally or not, for only when the kidneys abound with nutrient essence can they
generate brains by biochemical transformations, which depend for their success on the
quality of performance of the digestive function besides.
*Dizziness
In traditional Chinese medicine this disease is generally considered to be no less than
vertigo. It is in most cases due to deficiency in vital energy and blood, inadequacy of
renal essence, or insufficient nourishment of the brains, though in some cases it may
also be ascribed to weakness of the stomach or intestines. The symptoms of vertigo
can be improved remarkably in a short time by taking Inwarmer and Salubry.
*Multiple sclerosis
Traditional Chinese medicine views multiple, or disseminated, sclerosis as a type of
atrophy-flaccidity syndrome, for treatment of which herbal medicines targeted on its
cause should be used to enrich vital energy and break through the blocked collaterals
of the human meridian system ( Acherid and Coldcurer ) and to strengthen the spleen
and nourish the kidneys ( Inwarmer ). It is particularly important to enlist such herbal
medicines for use during the period of a remission, because recrudescence of the
disease can be prevented and a lot of labor and trouble in the future may be avoided
by incurring a small cost at present.
*Polyneuritis
Polyneuritis is equivalent in traditional Chinese medicine to what is called the
blockage disease, which is a diseased state characterized by invasion of pathogenic
factors that cause stagnation of the flow of vital energy and blood and blockage of the
meridian collaterals, and is, moreover, akin to the atrophy-flaccidity disease, which is
a diseased condition characterized by flaccid paralysis with muscular atrophy of a
limb. It has various causes, such as malnutrition, obstacles in metabolism, infection,
and hypersensitivity. The lesions are generally at the endings of peripheral nerves,
causing difficulties to distal portions of the extremities in making symmetrical and
asymmetrical movements. Thus, this disease consists in functional impairment and
injury to the autonomous nerve system. Polyneuritis with numbness and pain in the
distal portions of the extremities, for cure of which this prescription, i.e. Acherid, can
be used in all cases, but medication has to be stopped as soon as recovery is seen to
It is common knowledge that a cataract is lens opacity. Many people over 60 have
some degree of lens opacity. Although the mechanism of senile cataract is still not
clear, it will not be much wrong to say that in the case of old people the cause of the
opacity may be traced to lack of vital energy and blood, which results from aging and
physical deterioration. Anyhow, medical treatment is suitable only at the early stage
of the disease and a little time later.
*Nosebleed
There are many diseases which entail this symptom. From the standpoint of
traditional Chinese medicine, the causes of nosebleed fall into two categories, which
are dryness-heat and deficiency-cold. The majority of people whose noses frequently
bleed show symptoms of both categories. They belong to what traditional Chinese
medical scholars call the yin deficiency with up-flaming fire type. (They have such
symptoms as flushed cheeks, irritability, sore throat or increased libido.) As for those
people who suffer from nosebleed only of either of the two categories mentioned
above, their symptoms are as follows:
* Those who have the dryness-heat in their bodies show red eyes, swollen gums, sore
throat, and constipation. They should take Gui Pills and Toniyin.
* Those who have the deficiency-cold in their bodies show poor appetite, languor,
aptness to be tired and lack of strength, cold hands and feet, and shapeless or even
watery stool. They should take Gui Pills and Inwarmer.
*Stomatitis
Ulcerative stomatitis, or aphthous ulcer, a recurrent oral disease, is ascribed by
traditional Chinese medicine to exuberance of deficiency-fire in the human body. It is
necessary to pay special attention to oral hygiene and the regulation of spleen and
stomach. A comparatively good therapeutic effect can be achieved by adopting a
method which combines external treatment with internal treatment.
the
complications.
Safbrain may be taken for a period of time to clear the blood vessels of fat and
stagnant blood; Ilextesor may be used to reduce the blood pressure and blood fat; and
Sanlida may be used to break through the veins and arteries for promotion of
microcirculation to stabilize and steady the blood pressure. For regulation of the
illness during a later period Salubry, Ilextesor and Inwarmer may be taken for a
considerable length of time.
*Hypercholesterolemia
No method is better than that of using traditional Chinese medicine in the treatment of
hypercholesterolemia. Hypercholesterolemia is detrimental to a persons body, but a
level of cholesterol in the blood which is lower than normal is bad all the same for the
persons health. There are quite a number of Chinese herbal drugs which can lower
the level of cholesterol in the blood and prevent atherosclerosis at the same time.
What you need to do for this purpose is take Safbrain and simultaneously take a small
dose of Gastility for a certain length of time in order to expel cholesterol from the
body for achieving the effect of lowering the hypercholesterolemia. Salubry may be
taken for a long time for the purpose of regulation.
*Angina pectoris
Angina pectoris, which is due to a discrepancy between the myocardial demands for
oxygen and the amount delivered through the coronary arteries, pertains to the realm
of chest qi-blockage and heartache in traditional Chinese medicine, by which is
meant that although the illness is in the heart it is connected with three viscera---the
spleen, the liver and the kidneys. In the view of traditional medical scholars, there is
not enough force in the body to urge blood to flow through the vessels, with the result
that the blood begins flowing slowly, stagnates and has difficulty in passing through.
This is the premise and basis of incidence of this disease.
Therefore, the treatment of angina pectoris should start from strengthening the spleen
and resolving the phlegm; activating blood and resolving stasis. Safbrain, Aegiseme
and Holisticare should be taken first, for a certain period of time, and then Holisticare
ought to be taken continually for regulation.
*Arteriosclerosis
In treating coronary arteriosclerosis, or atherosclerosis, traditional Chinese medicine
relies chiefly on activating the blood, resolving the phlegm and breaking through the
meridian collaterals In this case, Safbrain may be administered. However, both
traditional Chinese medicine and Western medicine find it difficult to make a
fundamental cure of the disease. They only ameliorate the symptoms, lower the level
of blood fat and try to reverse the development of the light-yellow patch of sclerosis
on the artery that has already been formed. In order to prevent further development of
artherosclerosis, regulation needs to be carried out by long-term administration of
in the evening.
*Varicose veins
For treating varicose veins in the lower limbs, traditional Chinese medicine adopts the
method of breaking through the venous microcirculations, activating blood and
resolving blood stasis. Sanlida and Safbrain may be administered in order to facilitate
dissolution of the thrombi, removing obstacles from the blood vessels, clearing the
blood vessels of waste, and eliminating swelling, aching and itching. In daily life, the
patient should further reduce the intensity of his/her labor and lay more stress on
physical exercise.
but is spread all over the internal environment of the entire organism, albeit the
regulation made is not of the same degree at different parts of the body.
*Chronic nephritis
Patients of chronic nephritis generally show in urinalysis: proteinuria, occult
hematuria, and signs associated with tubular defects; and in clinical manifestations
show: palpitation, fatigability, sallow cheeks, and wakefulness in the night. From the
point of view of traditional Chinese medicine, this is a demonstration of the typical
heart-spleen dual deficiency. Treatment of this disease by means of herbal medicinals
should be conducted in adherence to the principle of having the heart and the spleen
regulated and tonified at the same time as having the turbidity and stasis in the body
resolved. A patient is suggested to take Inwarmer, Kilimend, and Aegiseme. If
Sanlida is taken simultaneously, the therapeutic effect will be better.
*Chronic renal failure
In the view of traditional Chinese medicine, a renal disease, no matter which, will
cause serious damage to the functioning of various viscera of the body, if it is
protracted. The main objects damaged are the spleen and the very kidneys
themselves, on which deficiency and injuries will be inflicted, and the illness will
become more and more serious with the elapse of time until, at last, the bodys
healthiness is exhausted and chronic renal failure ensues. However, experts of renal
diseases in traditional Chinese medicine have accumulated rich experience in the
treatment of chronic renal failure. They emphasize upholding healthiness by
banishing stases in the body, by regulating the spleen and the stomach, and also by
nourishing the kidneys and the blood.
*Diabetic nephropathy
There is an adage in traditional Chinese medicine, which says, Chronic diseases
enter the meridian collaterals. As the kidneys are the places where the collaterals
congregate, diabetic nephropathy arises, as a matter of fact, from long protraction of
diabetes mellitus and presents itself on the patient chiefly in the form of edema of
limbs. In the view of traditional Chinese medical scholars, this disease is the
consequence of decline in strength of the spleen and the kidneys; so, in treatment,
stress should be laid on blood being activated, stases being resolved, body fluids
being nourished, and collaterals being made free for passage. The effect will be very
good if Kilimend is used for administration over and above customary treatment.
*Urinary-tract infection
Traditional Chinese medicine assigns urinary-tract infection to the category of strain
strainguria( i.e. strainguria as a result of overstrain, marked by dripping of urine with
dull pain) and describes its etiology as having been affected by external evil so that
the bodys resistance is much lower than usual. In conformity with the above
statement, a method of treatment which clears the body of damp heat and nourishes
the spleen and the kidneys has come into being with, good clinical results, as a rule.
*Andropathy*
*Impotence
At present, there are quite a number of methods for treating impotence. A choice can
be made from among them according to personal requirement. Either of the following
two ways can achieve the aim and additionally fortify the mans constitution and
prolong his lifespan---so significantly that he may be assured of longevity: 1. By
taking Sanlida, which shows a quick result. You should take both Sanlida and
Inwarmer, if you want to take Sanlida for a long time, the effect will be better and
without any side effect. 2. By taking Holisticare and Kilimend, which has a slower
but steady effect.
* Prostatic hyperplasia
According to traditional Chinese medicine, prostatitis and prostatic hyperplasia have
their seats in the urinary bladder, but they are linked to kidneys, lungs, spleen and the
triple energizer (a collective term in traditional Chinese medicine for the three
portions of the body cavity, through which qi and fluids are transmitted). The method
used for treatment consists in softening and dissolving the hard nodule and breaking
through the impeded channels and collaterals. Clinical practice has shown that the
administration of Sanlida and Aegiseme has such good effects on prostatic
hyperplasia and prostatitis as to be beyond the patients expectation.
*Gynecologic diseases*
*Leukorrhagia
If leukorrhea (white vaginal discharge) is discovered to have abnormally increased,
the best policy is to go to hospital in good time to have a relevant examination made,
so as to exclude the possibility of having contracted a disease and to be sure of ones
good health. If certain microbes have been found to be involved, Aegiseme needs to
be taken. However, if routine examination of leukorrhea fails to find the probable
pathogenic microbe, attention should be paid to any advice which might be given by
traditional Chinese medical scholars, because they would likely say that the main
cause of the symptom is weakness of spleen and kidneys and that Inwarmer ought to
be taken for regulation of spleen and stomach and for nourishment of the kidneys,
which are suffering from insufficiency.
*Candidiasis
Scholars of traditional Chinese medicine would likely consider candidiasis in the
lower reproductive tract to be the outcome of a tangle of damp heat in the body,
aggravated by some external pathogenic evil. Damp heat is what is called the
endogenous factor in traditional Chinese medicine, and the pathogenic evil the
exogenous factor. The endogenous and the exogenous factors interact on each other,
causing the disease to linger on for a long time. In the course of treatment,
preparations used in traditional Chinese medicine may be adopted by selection on the
basis of the disease manifestations, for application either to the entire body or to a
locality. The ultimate criterion for judging success of the treatment of the vaginitis is
elimination of inflammation, strengthening of the organisms immunity, and
maintenance of an environment of acid-base balance in the vagina.
*Premenstrual syndrome
Menstruation is connected with heart, liver, spleen and kidneys---four of what
Chinese people popularly call the five internal organs. Therefore, the premenstrual
syndrome, which often comes in company with the menses, has manifestations which
are also connected with the four internal organs. If the connection is with heart and
liver, the manifestations will be being in a bad mood, being apt to get angry,
having a headache or suffering from insomnia. If the connection is with spleen
insufficiency or renal insufficiency, the manifestations will be diarrhea, edema, and in
very few individuals red itching rubella, oral ulceration, joint pain, or simple fever.
The ready-made traditional Chinese medicines recommended by us may be taken for
regulation of the body.
*Dysmenorrhea
Dysmenorrhea was divided by scholars of traditional Chinese medicine dialectically
into five syndrome patterns, of which the first pattern broke up later into two. The six
patterns are described below.
qi-stagnation dysmenorrhea: a type of dysmenorrhea caused by emotional depression
and marked by distending pain in the lower abdomen accompanied by discomfort and
distention in the chest and breasts before or during menstruation.
Blood-stasis dysmenorrhea: a type of dysmenorrhea characterized by a stabbing pain
in the lower abdomen (which becomes tender) before or during menstruation with
little menstrual discharge, the pain being usually alleviated by a discharge of blood
clots.
Cold-congealing dysmenorrhea: a type of dysmenorrhea marked by sluggish
menstrual flow with a cold feeling and pain in the lower abdomen, which can be
alleviated by warmth.
Damp-heat dysmenorrhea: a type of dysmenorrhea accompanied by leukorrhagia with
yellowish discharge.
qi-blood-deficiency dysmenorrhea: a type of dysmenorrhea marked by a negligible
amount of thin and pink-colored menstrual flow associated with persistent dull pain in
the lower abdomen, which usually occurs during the late period of menstruation and
can be alleviated by pressing.
Kidney-insufficiency dysmenorrhea: a type of dysmenorrhea caused by a congenital
defect, early marriage, intemperate sexual life or multiple deliveries, and usually
accompanied by dizziness, aching in the loins and weakness of legs.
Administration of Aegiseme and Inwarmer can produce a good effect.
*Pelvic inflammation
Pelvic inflammation is a gynecologic disease which is often encountered. Traditional
Chinese medicine divides it into five syndrome patterns, two of which are described
below.
Damp-heat down-pouring syndrome: a syndrome marked by frequent and painful
urination, a yellow fetid discharge from the vagina, and/or morbid leukorrhea in
pelvic infections.
Stagnant-blood retention syndrome: a syndrome in which the chief role belongs to
blood stasis, which is a pathological product of blood stagnation, but this syndrome
includes in its scope extravasated blood and blood moving sluggishly in circulation or
congested at a part in the lower reproductive tract, all of which may turn into
pathogenic factors.
For the damp-heat down-pouring syndrome, Aegiseme and Toniyin may be taken with
benefit; and for the stagnant-blood retention syndrome, Safbrain may be taken in
addition. These herbal products can be taken in cordination with Western medicines
so as to achieve both a temporary solution and a permanent cure.
*Endometriosis
Scholars of traditional Chinese medicine are of the opinion that this disease is closely
connected with the menstrual cycle and that the principal method of treatment should
be by activating the blood, resolving the stases already formed, regulating the flow of
vital energy, and alleviating pain. In order to achieve these purposes, the patient
needs to take Aegiseme and Safbrain. Besides, regulation of spleen and stomach is
also indispensable.
*Habitual abortion
If a miscarriage has already happened, Aegiseme and Safbrain need to be taken to
clear the body of extravasated blood. If it is still early enough to prevent the
miscarriage and save the fetus, Gui Pills, Holisticare and Salubry may be used to
replenish blood and vital energy and reinforce life power.
*Bleeding after artificial abortion
In order to stop bleeding and relieve pain, the woman should take Aegiseme and
Safbrain first to clear the body of extravasated blood, then take Holisticare and
Salubry to replenish vitality and reinforce life power.
*Infertility
If the infertility is due to obstruction of the Fallopian tube, Aegiseme and Safbrain
may be taken, and that will produce a good effect.
If the case is one of primary infertility, then Sanlida needs to be taken to promote
microcirculations in the reproductive system, and Gui Pills, Kilimend and Salubry
may be taken to replenish blood and tonify kidneys so as to strengthen and rectify the
function of sex hormones.
*Mastofibroma
From the point of view of traditional Chinese medicine, besides hormonal imbalance,
it is the dual deficiency of blood and vital energy in women which entails disorder of
blood and vital energy in breasts that eventually causes the formation of
mastofibromas. If herbal medicines which are capable of warming phlegm-damp as
well as qi and blood, such as Aegiseme and Inwarmer, are used, they ought to be able
to cure this disease, i.e. mastofibroma. By the same token, because traditional
Chinese medical scholars say that harmony in internal organs, the thriving of
healthiness, and the equilibrium of yin and yang are the basic guarantee of the human
bodys physical well-being, Salubry should also be taken.
*Involutional syndrome
Traditional Chinese medicine treats diseases connected with the climacteric by
disentangling first of all the knot in the heart, which means helping a patient get rid
of all nonsensical misgivings and fears and keep an optimitic frame of mind. The next
step is to make the patient regulate his/her body by the principle of nourishing the
liver and kidneys and enhancing vitality and tonifying blood, according to his/her
economic circumstances, and engage in appropriate physical exercises.
*Cancer*
*Cancer
Cancer that occurs in the form of one or more tumors usually grows at a certain part
of the body, but it is actually a systemic disease. For a great number of cancer
patients, local treatment or even excision cannot solve the problem radically. The
dominant view in traditional Chinese medicine concerning the treatment of cancer is
that cancer is caused by toxic substances running rampant in the blood and treatment
should be conducted first by cooling the blood to get rid of the heat toxin, next by
reinforcing the vitality of spleen and stomach so as to strengthen the life power of the
patient, and finally by providing the patient with proper regulation including rich
nourishment.
This view is convincing in that it agrees with the findings of modern science,
especially in respect to the existence of toxic substances as the cause of the growth of
cancer. This can be seen from Science Desk Reference (1995) of the New York
Public Library, in which it is stated on page 192 that When normal cells suddenly
become abnormal, grow too quickly, consume large amounts of the bodys energy,
and produce toxic substances, they are often referred to as cancer cells. Thus, it may
be deduced that elimination of toxic substances in the blood is an important step in the
cure of cancer. If a person happens to have an inexplicable pain somewhere in his/her
body that has persisted for a considerable time in spite of all the efforts made to cure
the body of it or if he/she has got inexplicably a sensation similar to that of
osteoporosis but worsening at a higher speed, he/she may well take some tonic of
good standing, such as Salubry and Feales, continually or intermittently, for no other
purpose than that of doing an experiment in connection with cancer treatment. During
and after radiotherapy Holisticare and Gui Pills should be taken.

Table of Regulated Prescriptions
In the Table of Regulated Prescriptions, the products of the Company are arranged
according to their drug properties from the left side to the right, with those having the
hot property placed on the left side, those having the intermediate property in the
middle, and those having the cool property on the right side, the background color
being used to serve as a hint. Red color represents the medicine being warm or hot;
absence of color represents the medicine being intermediate in regard to drug
property; and blue color represents the medicine being cool in drug property. If a
product having a very hot or very cold property is taken alone, all by itself, for a very
long time, the bodys yin and yang equilibrium will be subjected to a bad influence.
For this reason, in taking traditional Chinese medicines you need to observe the
instructions of the said pamphlet so as to keep a proper balance between yin and yang
during a long period of administration. As for drugs which are intermediate or nearly
intermediate between hot and cool they can be taken all by themselves.
When you are taking any of these Chinese herbal medicines, you must control your
alcohol drinking. Otherwise, the therapeutic effect will be adversely affected. Those
who are weak in constitution must refrain from indulgence in sex, so that their
diseases might not be aggravated.
When consulting the Table of Regulated Prescriptions please note the meanings of the
following symbols:
A: Amount of treatment
B: Amount of health care

A Momentous Development in TCM
*Advent of the System of Disease-entity Identification
The idea of conducting treatment of a disease on the basis of overall analysis of
symptoms and signs, including the cause, nature and location of the illness and the
patients physical condition, is the crystallization of thousands of years of medical
practice in China and has served for centuries as the guiding theoretical principle of
traditional Chinese medicine in both prophylaxis and disease treatment.
This type of treatment, which is based on initial identification of the pattern of the
disease being treated and which stresses that the diagnosis be made by observing the
organisms reflection in its entirety, embodies a mode of clinical thinking that
advocates individualization in diagnosis and treatment.
People of the modern era adore precise and objective data. They think that diagnoses
and treatments in traditional Chinese medicine are vague, abstract and replete with
subjectivities. For this reason, the Public Health Ministry of China has long since
included in the State Plan of Subjects for Priority Research the topic of How to
raise the precision of Disease Pattern Identification in traditional Chinese medicine.
From qualitative description to quantitative analysis is universally acknowledged as
the path along which a science must travel in its development. On the premise of
strict conformity with the theoretical system of traditional Chinese medicine and the
paramount rule of giving treatment on the basis of disease pattern identification,
experts in traditional Chinese medicine arranged and studied information from three
sources: the immense ancient and contemporary Chinese medical literature; the
summing-up records and reports of famous traditional Chinese medical scholars
experience in disease pattern identification and cases of their successful treatments;
and the records of epidemiologic investigations. Information processing technology
was employed to combine and quantify the information from these sources, whereby
quantified data, the parameters of disease pattern identification, were obtained and
used in compilation of the Quantitative Syndrome Differentiation Table.
After many years of hard work, the experts in traditional Chinese medicine were able
to establish the Disease-entity Identification Research Platform supported technically
by a databank. They created the disease-entity identification system.
What after all is the disease-entity identification system? The symptoms and bodily
signs which a patient presents are what differentiation and identification depend on
for diagnostic work. They are called syndrome manifestation. The essential
pathological character of the disease ascertained through differentiation and
identification carried out on the syndrome manifestation is called the disease-entity.
The name used in diagnoses formed by combining the designation of the location of
the disease with the disease-entity is termed the disease name. Recognition of the
disease-entity by differentiation of it from other items is the key to the success of
identification, whereas determination of the disease name is the object striven for.
The syndrome manifestation, the disease-entity and the disease name form a complex
structure and constitute together the disease-entity identification system, which
reveals the natural law that governs it and the substance and characteristics of the
differentiation and identification work. It is a significant academic development in
the science of traditional Chinese medicine.
*TCM Intelligent Diagnostic-therapeutic Software
On the basis of the Quantitative Syndrome Differentiation Table and the principle of
disease-entity identification, a databank has been established containing the
knowledge of TCM syndrome differentiation and treatment; a computer operation
program has been compiled according to the rules of logical thinking; and an
intelligent computer-operated TCM diagnostic-therapeutic system has been brought
into being. It is a huge system covering the entire area of traditional Chinese medical
care, including fields, such as internal diseases, gynecology and pediatrics, for the
purpose of helping traditional Chinese medical practitioners make diagnoses and carry
out treatments.
The system has been so compiled as to contain 1,000 symptoms, 460 diseases, 60
disease-entities, 1,700 normative disease pattern models, 720 often-used traditional
Chinese medicinals, and 670 traditional Chinese medicinal prescriptions. For the
diagnosis and treatment of diseases and disease-entities, this intelligent system can
provide 10 therapeutic projects to each applicant for diagnosis and treatment, so as to
help doctors make the optimum diagnostic and therapeutic decisions.
*TCM Telemedicine
Taking into consideration the fact that the diagnoses and therapeutic plans provided
by the TCM Intelligent Diagnostic-Therapeutic System are high in accuracy and
normative in contents, this Company is planning to adopt it ( the Intelligent
Diagnostic-Therapeutic System ) as the Companys supplementary diagnostic and
therapeutic instrument in TCM Telemedicine, so as to provide the broad masses of
patients and subhealthy people with service which is more individualized.
