1. Each team must have exactly FIVE players on their roster
2. Every player should be eligible to play in the tournament (Age, ethnicity, etc.) a. Refer to tournament rules to check if player qualifies to play b. IDs may be checked by convenor if any conflicts arise and any player who fails to provide an ID will be disqualified from the tournament 3. Any player belonging to a team that has been disqualified from the tournament may NOT join another team if they are in need of a player a. Violation of this rule will lead to disqualification of the team that has added the ineligible player 4. Each team will receive 10 minutes to warm-up and gather their team before the game starts 5. If a team fails to show up 30 minutes (at least 4 players) after the schedule game time they will be forced to forfeit and receive a loss for that game a. If the incidence occurs again for a second time the team will be disqualified 6. In case of an injury, the team cannot add another player if they are still FOUR players that are able to play a. If the team has less than 4 players available for a game due to injury or another justified reason, they may add another player to their roster that is NOT already part of the tournament b. This player will be added to the official roster in place of the injured player and will be required to play in the remaining games 7. Any inappropriate attitude on the court will lead to an immediate disqualification of the player or team depending on the circumstances. 8. Any other conflicts that come up will be dealt by the event organizers Regulations 1. A bracket style tournament or round robin style tournament may be used depending on the age group and the number of teams (this decision is up to the event organizers) 2. Game length will depend on age group. Generally, a. U13 Two 8 Minute Halves b. U16 Two 10 Minute Halves c. U19 Two 10 Minute Halves, Four 6 Minute Quarters During Finals d. Mens - Two 12 Minute Halves, Four 8 Minute Quarters During Finals 3. All age groups with the exception of U13 will be played full court 4 on 4 with one substitute player per team a. U13 will be a half court 3 on 3 game, with 2 substitute players 4. Any type of foul (shooting or blocking) will result in checking the ball into play (at the middle of the three point line) 5. Any type of violation (travel, charge, etc.) will result in a sideline inbound 6. An Out of Bounds call will result in an inbound from the area it went out 7. If a player commits 5 fouls, they will be ejected from the game a. If a second player commits 5 fouls, the team will forfeit that game
8. A team is able to commit a maximum of 7 fouls per half, without penalty.
a. On the 8th foul, the team that gets fouled will shoot free throws. i. 2 free throw for an on-the-floor foul (reach-in, blocking, etc.) ii. 2 free throws for a shooting foul inside the three-point line iii. 3 free throws for a shooting foul from beyond the three-point line iv. 1 free throw for if the player scores the basket and gets fouled (And-1) 9. A shot clock of 24 seconds may be used in the last 5 minutes of the semi-finals and finals (for Mens and U19 ONLY) depending on the willingness of volunteers to take responsibility 10. Score will be counted by 2s and 3s (1s for free throws) 11. Winner will be decided by the team leading at the point when the time is up 12. Game clock will ONLY stop on the following: a. Foul b. Timeout c. Injury d. Delay of Game (Ex: Interference on the court) e. Every basket in the final 2 minutes of a game 13. Each team has TWO (2) timeouts PER half a. These do not carry over if they are not used b. One timeout is 60 seconds and one is 20 seconds (may be used in any order) 14. If the score is tied at the end of a game, FOUR (4) minutes will be added as Overtime a. Each team receives one extra timeout for Overtime 15. A jump ball will be used to start the game a. OT will have another jump ball to start b. A possession arrow will be used to settle jump balls, which will be switched every time a possession changes 16. If a game is won by 20+ points, the team will receive only 20 points as their win differential a. This is only applicable in the case of a tie Tiebreaker If two teams are tied after the round robin games, the following tiebreaker rules will be used in this respective order until one team excels: 1. Score differential 2. Points Allowed over the round robin games 3. Another full game with the official time length of that specific age group
