BALANGAY: A PROPOSED FLOOD RESILIENT

HOUSE

QUESTIONS
1.
How can an amphibious house be efficient,
sustainable and cost effective suitable in Philippine
setting?
2.
What are the forms, utilities, mechanism,
construction systems and materials that can be
used as a design solution to the proposal?
3.
How will the effects weights to the structure
will be manage?

3. RESEARCH STRATEGY (OUTLINE)

OBJECTIVES
The main goal of this project proposal is to
have an idea on an architectural design solution for
houses in flood prone areas and to localize the
foreign amphibious designs suitable in the
Philippines. The proposal aims to design a house
where its user can protect their property and
personal belongings from flood and less damage
during typhoons. It aims to give an idea on design
strategies on adapting with flood and typhoons in
Philippine setting.
To achieve the goals of the proposal, here are the
objectives of this project:

To conceptualize a design strategies of

amphibious architecture suitable in Philippine
setting

To
determine
the
forms,
utilities,
mechanism, construction details and materials that
can be used as a design solution to the proposal

To determine a way to manage the effects
